I've gone to many other boutique/ studios for classes and I've enjoyed The Sweat Lab classes the most. Their front staff are very nice and helpful, the studio is nice, clean and always a good temperature. Their spin classes are not intimidating like others can be - if you can't get the beat you are encouraged to give it your all rather then discouraged because you can't. The circuit classes are amazing and go by so fast - always feel these classes a day or two after which is amazing! This is the first place I've done barre at and I enjoy the class structure and instructor. I think the monthly price and drop in are reasonable when compared to others. Plus you get variety rather than needing to go to several studios. Highly recommend!!

HORRIBLE treatment by staff today, NOT luxury service, AVOID…read more I had asked to be connected to the manager of the club during the phone call to Adress the situation privately but Raeann said over the phone he (manager?) was on vacation for a long time and refused. I wanted to address the horrible treatment i received today not only from Raeann, but from the front desk girl as well as the one that called me in to the office upon arrival. I signed up through the mind body app, and scheduled my yoga class through there. I got to the desk 10 mins before the class as that is what the class description said. I was then told to wait and have some other girl frantically tell me shes so rushed now to get me registered, which i thought was done already through the app. This meeting she all but blamed me and made me feel as though i was a burden to her, and that this was not how it was supposed to be. Again, nowhere does this say this when booking through mind body that there needs to be a tour and such prior to me scheduling anything. After class, i left, and checked if i had a phone number for the facility, i only had a text from Raeann, which i have attached here, again, no mention of a 1 hr needed for tour and processing etc. In her text, i will note however, in the berating phone call after, she did lie and say she had called so many times and explained over voicemail, which did not happen. I texted Raeann back as attached below, to which she berated me (in her calm, soft spoken voice as she continued to say, while talking down to me) talk over me, and say she didn't want me in her club when i asked to speak to a manager because her behaviour was an insane way to treat anyone, let alone a new member. She then back peddled and again, blamed me for having a bad day and was taking it out on her (when she called me to seemingly blame a new member with a valid concern that i calmly, privately tried to address ?) She lied saying she called multiple times, when she called once and texted me. She also lied about her manager being on vacation, as when i called the front desk, they said he would be in on Monday. Her attitude over the phone was horrible, her condescending way of speaking was uncalled for and her threats of telling everyone about me, and not letting anyone else speak to me, is absolutely insane. I would like to speak to anyone above her as soon as possible. Thanks. If this is how this place is run, DO NOT GO HERE.

What really sets this place apart, though, is the kids club. As a parent, it's such a game changer to know my kids are happy, safe, and well cared for while I take time for myself. It makes working out feel easy and enjoyable instead of stressful. On top of all that, the people are amazing both staff and members. There's such a welcoming, friendly vibe that makes it feel more like a community than just a gym. And the location couldn't be better. The second time I went back, I attended the Basics class and it was great. They started with low weight to help me "feel" my form and then built up from there. What I like about it: - A great range of equipment, - energetic classmates and instructors, - it's half way between my place and my boyfriends so it's convenient for both of us - there's parking and I don't have to pay to park there - I like that workouts get switched up daily and I feel like I'll be fitter and stronger two weeks from now. What I don't like about it: - I still sort of want the mirrors but this is a big no=no in cross fit - it was a tiny bit intimidating at first but I think that's the case with every new gym I've ever tried. Seriously. I just need to get over that.

I've been meaning to write this review for quite sometime but it slipped my mind. I started at RCR…read morein 2013 after being introduced to the gym through a friend who coached at the gym at the time Ben. Immediately I felt welcomed by the coaching staff who spent much more time with me then they had to. I remember one instance within my first two months where coaches and owners Ken and Bryan spent over an hour after class working with me on my snatch, I must have gone through over 100 reps in that hour and I learned so much about positioning and speed. Coach Dylan did the same thing for me with muscle ups the following month and eventually I got one. It's hard to remember all the times that coaches spent extra time with me after or before class(and we would be here all day if I told you), but I can tell you that had to be hundreds during my nearly 3 years at Ramsay. The Classes at Ramsay are a hour long each but often you'll find people show up quite early to stretch and socialize with other members. The format generally consists of a warm up then a strength or skill portion followed by a Metcon. The strength portion and metcons are almost always programmed as a part of a bigger picture with a focus on certain skills whether it be Olympic lifting, Gymnastics, Conditioning or any combination of those and I saw very consistent and steady improvements during my time at Ramsay. If your looking to get into Olympic weightlifting RCR also has a barbell club which is fantastic. I spent the majority of my last year with RCR working on Olympic lifting with coach Geoff. He also led me through my first weightlifting competition which was a blast. The barbell club has to be one of the funnest group I've ever had the pleasure to train with and I've made some great friends through the club. If I had one final thing to say about RCR I would say that most people walk through the doors hoping to get fit but the reason most people stick around is because of the community, I made a lot of great friends during my time at RCR and had some great experience as a result of my time there.

I am beyond impressed with this place!…read more I moved to Calgary from Vancouver looking for a gym with flexible hours. This place offers 24hr FITNESS and TANNING. It is staffed during the day and early evenings which means you can make an appointment with a trainer, or have questions answered. Rob, the owner, is AMAZING. He really makes an effort to get to know all of the members, and is incredible at building rapport. ALL business owners could learn from him! Also, the staff is incredible. All very friendly and nonjudgmental, ready to answer questions pertaining to health at anytime. The other patrons of the gym are also very friendly. Ages range from late teens to early 70s- I never feel out of place or uncomfortable. This gym offers a variety of cardio equipment (you NEVER have to wait for a machine), has a weight circuit, a large free weight area, and a mid-size 'studio' area. Also, for those who tan, it offers one tanning bed which is NEW and LARGE. I work shift work and tend to be a night owl, sometimes THE ONLY time I have to get a work out/tan in is at 3am- this place TOTALLY meet my needs. For UNLIMITED tanning and Gym access I pay around $63.00, without the tanning it would be about $18 less- VERY REASONABLE. Also, they offer month to month plans so you don't have to sign a contract if it's not for you. I urge anyone who is considering joining a gym in the SW to stop in and take a look around, if you awesome fitness amenities don't win you over the friendly staff totally will.

If this gym were not so inconveniently located for those coming from downtown after work, I'd…read moreprobably still be going. I've only tried the CrossFit classes here, but they also offer various martial arts such as Muay Thai and Brazilian Jujitsu. The facility is divided between a very large floor mat sparring area, a full sized fighting octagon, and a functional fitness area for CrossFit (pull up bars, barbell racks, jumping boxes, etc.). The men's "change room" consists of a small semi-closed off cluster of lockers in the main gym area. The women have an actual room. Being located in an industrial park, there is plenty for parking. The CrossFit classes at this location differ from the others I have tried insofar as they tend to be consistently focused on constant high rep, high intensity intuitive exercises (e.g. box jumps, kipping pull ups, push up pyramids, crunches) and a few barbell moves. This is in contrast to some other CrossFits where you can spend a significant portion of a class working on developing a particular "functional" movement like a headstand, barbell combos, or some kettle bell manoeuvre. If you're looking for an efficient calorie burning, stamina building workout class you can dive into without much of a learning curve, try this place.
