He never showed up. Didn't answer his phone. Seven of us sat around for over an hour. Don't waste your time with this douche.

Unfortunately, I did not heed the warning of the previous review, giving him the benefit of the doubt. We had a date booked for him to come and do the gun safety course and had emailed back and forth quite a bit to get it all set up. I had a babysitter coming to the house and everything while I did this course as I can't be away from my child the whole day to go take the course elsewhere. I emailed 3 days before to confirm, the day before, AND phoned him the evening before to confirm and all were not answered and he did not show up or reply with an explanation as to why he did not show up. I am very disappointed as I took a number of hours out of my weekend to review the manual and prepare for the course and had to cancel my babysitter and the other people that were coming to take the course last minute. Very very poorly run business. Do not bother with this guy. read more

Mr. Nelson taught me restricted and non restricted. I was worried it would be a joke (like Alberta driver licence tests), but he actually taught us something and seemed to actually care. Very funny guy, but doesn't suffer fools. I've seen him at firearm events since and he even remembered me. Great guy. I've sent a dozen friends through him. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Dustin N.

Dustin Nelson has been involved with firearms his entire life. Growing up on a farm just east of Calgary spending time with his grandfather in the fields has given him the opportunity to connect with nature. Once he was old enough to take hunter training he did and then during hunting season you could find him in the field pursuing Geese, Ducks and many different upland game birds. From the age of 18 on he has been involved with the Canadian Firearms program. It was also this time he began competing in handgun shooting, a sport he still enjoys to this day. After working for the Shooting Edge and as a Correctional Officer for the province, he took on an instructor position with Alberta Hunter Education. Teaching both firearms safety and hunter education has been a passion of Dustin's for many years. We look forward to instructing you and passing on some of the many years of experience from Nelson Firearms Training.

She was very supportive and understanding with our family and my daughter passed proudly the first time and in a strange city because driving tests were hard to get at that time. She is a terrific and confident driver passing her Advanced Class 5 the first time as well, and currently drives as part of her work. I recommend Carrie at Able Driving hands down!

It is kind of sad that I can only see one Yelp review of this guy. I went ahead and booked with him after talking to a buddy that did the training with him and speaking to him personally. All i can say is he is a great instructor. Extremely knowledgeable about what he is teaching. We booked a group session with him at our office in the SE, myself and 6 other guys. We are all new to shooting and he made it very easy and fun to learn. I have recommended him to all of my friends and they have had the same experiences as well. Thanks a million Dustin!! read more

I have to say that this was some of the best training I could have received. My schedule is crazy and it can be hard for me to accommodate classes. When i contacted Dustin he told me that he does mostly private training and would be happy to work with me and around my schedule. We set up a day during the week that worked for me and he trained me one on one. I can't think that anyone else would jump through such hoops to get me my PAL. A BIG thank you to NFT for helping me get my licence on my time with my schedule. read more

a few months ago I needed to get a firearms license as I wanted to work for Brinks. On the word from a friend I booked Dustin to come to our home and do a private course. I can tell you that it was a very good experience. He brought everything we needed to do the course and then he did the testing. He is a really good instructor and I could tell he had been doing this for a while. Thanks again! read more

I used this company for my restricted firearms licence and it went great. He showed up when expected and the price for the second course seemed fair from what i could see what was comparable around town. Would suggest to a friend. Looking at the other review he is very clear about if you do not confirm 24hrs prior he will not just come to your house (makes sense to me) read more

Nelson firearms training makes the whole process pretty easy. I have also asked for advise and help with a lot of fire arms questions after the fact and he has been more than willing to help me with anything i have had a whim for. If you are going to be into firearms for awhile he is the perfect person to know because it is not just about the training course and out. read more

Total NO SHOW for our 3rd appointment ,people just left my house with nothing to show for it ...AGAIN...doesn't answer his phone or text. and has obviously has no respect for anyone but himself. lf you dont offer him $2000.00 for his guarantee passing grade he will never show. Dont deal with this company,what a joke!!! read more

He was very flexible with his course dates to accommodate my groups sceduals. He was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions. it was also a comfortable and friendly atmosphere for a training course. i would highly recommend him to anyone looking to complete this program. read more

I got my training for Canadian Restricted and Non-Restricted Firearms from Dustin Nelson. I passed with a score of 198/200 and 198/200 respectively. I would say that he is the best and highly recommend it to anyone out there who is looking forward to take firearms courses. read more
