The salad was loaded with nuts and cheese and the tenderloin was cooked perfectly. The salad had so much "stuff" in it that you could hardly even tell that there were any greens under it all. I also loved the dressing. The service was meh. There wasn't anything they did wrong, but for a higher end golf course I would have expected things to be a little more polished. I felt like I was at a Swiss Chalet for the level of service I received.

Once in the summer and once in October. The place is maintained well, no real rushy rushy marshalls and a beautiful easy spot to get to for those from Calgary or Bragg Creek. Prior to this visit I hadn't played on a golf course for around 3 years, so I was a bit apprehensive about my first return game. I'm a capable golfer; usually I can get a bogey here and there, maybe even a par, but then there are holes where everything goes wrong and I max out my strokes to 10+... Not a big deal with the right group, but it can pretty nerve racking when you're surrounded by other people on the course who are seemingly judging you and getting annoyed by your lack of skill. With that in mind I was a bit nervous for my return game. Upon checking in at the counter for our Tee time the lady working the cashier ensured us that it was a very beginner friendly course and if people don't like that, then they shouldn't be golfing here. Music to my ears :). We were paired with a senior couple and we set off. Sure enough it was a very beginner friendly course! The first 3 holes are their longer par 4 holes, and the remaining 6 are par 3s. There are no sand traps or water traps (unless you really hammer it out of bounds on a couple holes, you may end up in the reservoir lol) and minimal sloping. The trees also did a good job stopping the ball from going too far out of bounds most of the time, although on one hole I proved it possible to make it onto the fairway of an adjacent hole lol :D. I've golfed 7 or 8 different courses (mostly around Lethbridge where I grew up) and this was by far the easiest and most basic I've played. The greens are pretty flat and are a bit slow, but overall they looked well maintained as was the rest of the course. This course was definitely better maintained than at least one of the other courses I've played. As another reviewer mentioned, they do have power lines that are pretty prevalent on a couple holes with an audible humming. You do get some solid views on the reservoir on a couple holes and near the club house though! The couple we were paired with were definitely of beginner level as well, so it made for a highly enjoyable experience as we all played on a level playing field free on judgement and full on fun :). The course is very walkable, we opted for no cart and still did it in under 2 hours. You could do it in under 1.5 hours with the right group. I recommend booking ahead of time rather than trying to walk-in, they were quite busy! There's also a phone and online booking system. Their green fees were extremely affordable: $23 on weekend, $21 on weekdays, you can also rent clubs for $7 if you don't have your own! There is a putting green near the club house, no chipping green or driving range. Also cash and credit only, no credit! Overall great course all around for beginners, I'll definitely golf here again! Don't expect to use your driver much, you can probably get away with playing this entire course with a 3 wood, pitching wedge and a putter quite reasonably. Especially on the latter half I was able to primarily use my pitching wedge and putter. So if you're not a fan of the short game and like some additional course challenges this course may not be for you, but if you like a casual paced game that's free of judgement then it's a solid course!

Other than that, it's a great course. Being a newer golfer I enjoy this course, 4 of us can do it in under 2 hours. The holes are relatively short, so you can get a couple good shots in, and it's easy to improve or try different shots etc. The greens are well maintained, the offer power carts and are very reasonably priced. For the hubs and I to golf with a power cart is around $50. If you are a newer golfer, looking for a fun course or just a quick round, I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

The light display has really expanded over the years and is a good amount of walking around with your family. At one of the gates there's a no dogs sign but there were quite a few dogs wandering around on leashes the other night. Maybe it's not a big deal in the winter. For parking I suggest going on the east side of 14th street along Confederation Park. There was tons of space there compared to across the street on the west side of 14th.

It attracts people from all over and is a lot more spectacular than the Zoo Lights and the best part is that it's free. You can see some of it from 14th St. NW, but the whole thing is worth stopping for. Kids are tobogganing, people are walking around laughing, it's a great display. If you see it this winter on your way to or from downtown, stop in and take the kids.....

Scenery 4.5. I Admit to being biased toward mountain golf courses. Glen eagles remains a favorite…read more The sweeping vistas of the Canadian Rockies makes this a picturesque setting. There are two downhill par three holes with dramatic elevation changes overlooking a gorgeous river with the Rockies in the distance. Since the sand oil business seems to be set up at the base of this course it has marred the view but this is easily overlooked and ignored. 0.5 deduction. Routing and shot values 4.5: I walked the front nine. This is very doable. The shot values and aim lines are very good to generous fairways on the front nine. This is where you want to score. The par 5 2nd is reachable and the elevation changes aren't overly taxing for walkers. The back nine is NOT walkable. The pro-staff was helpful and made sure we took a cart for the back nine. Long walks between holes and Steep terrain make the back nine cart necessary. Golf carts are gas powered as necessary on hilly courses. The back nine plays down into a valley for several holes and you lose the majesty of the Rockies during that time. The houses that border the course come into play more than I like. The back is much more demanding and narrow so be prepared and avoid the big number. 0.5 deduction for the houses. Staff 4.5: friendly in the pro shop and cafe. Cart guys look exhausted and were just helpful enough; Very perfunctory. 0.5 deduction. Also the pull carts they have are the giant wheel type that too over with regularity on hilly terrain. They would be best served by having 4 wheeled push carts by Clicgear of Sun Mountain. Greens 4.0: they were in good shape but starting to get overrun by poana grass. Hence several putts were knocked offline by flowering poana; a weed that is a curse to all golf courses. I'm a 6 handicap and had played banff springs and heritage pointe on this trip. Perfect greens in both instances with heritage taking the prize. Pace of play 5: played in 4:25. No rangers on this go around but no issues either. The foursomes in front of us kept pulling away, playing fast. Much appreciated!! Overall, this course deserves 5 stars because it was a joy to play. My advice is to walk the front and ride the back nine. Enjoy the scenery and play for the spectacular shot!

It's definitely an old building, could use some renos, but it's pretty cool to see! They do extensive indoor training here. Quite a few golf simulators as well. You pay by how long you hit balls. So if you're fast, you will get a better bang for your buck. We had a beer, hit some balls, worked on our swing...nice outing (need to remember this place in the winter!). Just needs a bit of an overhaul. Oh! And really nice guy running the front!
