Hard to imagine a more successful moving experience. My move from upper Manhattan to southern…read morePutnam County this weekend was nearly perfect. Fantastic crew of 4 led by the highly capable Matthias was prompt, diligent and professional. They handled everything with aplomb and style. Not a small move by any stretch, and with a number of big items (King Mattress, oversize wood mirror and some furniture) - everything was packed and unpacked with care. One of the best business experiences I've had in a long while. Highly recommended...

I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. These guys provide excellent customer service and I was very impressed by them.

As detailed as this review will be, there was even more at play which couldn't be summarized, but here are the highlights. The job was to move most of the contents of a 3000 square foot home to a local storage facility with a small amount going to a temporary local rental. In the beginning of the relationship, the sales person was so helpful, visiting my home, inspecting the contents, estimating the packing and storage needs. He recommended a local storage facility and even told me how many square feet of storage would be needed. Out of an abundance of caution, I doubled that. The day before the move, packers came and did some of the last minute stuff. So far all was good. Then came moving day and that's when it all fell apart. The team worked hard but the supervisor was just impossible. If I spoke directly to any of the team (or even responded to direct questions) he advised me not to do so and informed me that he was the boss and I should only speak to him because he made all the decisions. My response was that if he wanted all communication to be through him then he should advise his team. Regardless, the movers were treated well... coffee and donuts for breakfast, pizza and soda for lunch and Wendy's and snacks for dinner over the course of what turned out to be a 14 hour day. More on that later. All day long I reminded the supervisor that certain items would need to be loaded into the storage facility first but his answer was consistently "I'm not worried about that". Finally the vans are packed, first load is dropped off at the temporary rental and we head to the storage facility but when we arrived we're shocked to learn that the vans would not fit in the loading zone (under the building) so they have to be parked next door and travel a busy street by foot with all of my belongings. No other option because at this point it's 7pm and the facility is closed with no representative onsite. I had relied on molloy's salesperson since he recommended the storage facility and this should have been investigated prior to his recommendation since he knew the size of his vans and I did not. All of the extra time spent during the move was due to this hardship. At this point none of the team, including the supervisor, were even remotely happy. Attitudes changed, moving slowed to a crawl. Around 8:30 pm I reminded the supervisor that we'd no longer have access to the facility after 10 pm and he told the team, in Spanish, thinking I wouldn't understand, that it was time to start moving faster. Due to careless packing (with zero regard to my pleas that certain items had to go in last to be accessible), the storage lockers filled up quickly. Back to the rental we go to pack the overflow and wow all of a sudden everyone was moving with lightning speed. All is finally said and done and the supervisor completes his paperwork and I offer him a generous stack of cash as a gratuity despite the fact that I was far less than satisfied, but the men did work hard all day and even though I paid for meals, etc. throughout the day. His response was "is this just for me? What about the rest of the guys" to which I replied "you're the boss that's for everyone please distribute it". Well how much is it he says and when I told him .... He just said ok and turned around and left. Not even a thank you. Regardless the very next business day I explained all of the circumstances to my moving coordinator and the salesperson and they couldn't have been more apologetic saying that they frequently receive complaints about this particular supervisor because he is not a "people person". My salesperson assured me he'd make it right and make me a satisfied customer. But... a week or two later all I received was an invoice for additional charges! To the tune of $1300!!! I immediately messaged him and ask him to call me and his answer was "I can't talk right now please message me your concerns", to which he replied that his hands were tied and there's nothing he can do. I received one long winded semi apology stating that if I could give molloy another chance he'd make it right and make sure that supervisor was not assigned to my storage move out. My reply was that I couldn't in good conscience do so and I still would like to hear from him with some curative regarding the overtime expenses which were his liability due to poor estimating and lack of properly researching the storage facility. To date, almost a month later, he still has not replied. Certainly not the way to satisfy an alienated customer. Please use a company that cares about their business and reputation because this one clearly does not.

I used Thomas from TKJ Express, located in Farmingdale. This is a company I used before when I moved from my apartment to a storage facility. They did a great job and we oversaw everything that occurred during the move. Knowing that I'd be moving within a years time, I wanted to use them again because of the great experience. Booking went smoothly and he required cash the day of the move in New York. I did not have a contract, like I did the first time, but I thought nothing of it, and I recognized that was my fault initially. The day of the move, they stopped at my moms house first to gather my things there, then went to my storage facility and unloaded all items into a white moving truck. Things seemed to go smoothly and they would be on their way to Florida with all my belongings and furniture. Thursday morning I arrived at my new home to wait for the movers, and an uncovered uhaul (only shrink wrap) showed up hitched to the back of an Explorer. One guy gets out of the car. Only one, when I was told 3 guys would be doing the move. I immediately freaked out and started to cry because I see how my stuff was already handled, we just had a horrible tropical storm (just shy of a category 1 hurricane) and, knowing I have a flight of stairs with no capability to help this mover. My friend saw me cry instantly and tried to calm me down. The mover had no door stopper and continuously kicked my door open while unloading, making scuff marks all over, and without any care or consideration. All of my boxes and tubs were carefully labeled to what room it was going in, along with "fragile" where applicable. This man basically put my stuff scattered in random rooms, thus making it harder to go through. The table and bed were not put back together, as it was supposed to be. The table (which was not even a year old) is now missing a chair. As I have been unpacking, there is an enormous amount of stuff that is gone. STOLEN. Electronics, house wear, decor, name brand purses, etc. I'm not talking about one box or one chair. New items. A few year old items. Sentimental items. Things that I worked very hard for and things that meant something to me. Some items have been broken. Boxes have been RETAPED as if they were opened then taped up again . I tried contacting the business Owner, and was only able to reach him when the mover was here that day. I knew at this time there was something wrong based on the tone he took with me. He told me he was doing me a favor by moving during a pandemic and how he's putting his worker at risk because of FL being a high risk state (ironically, his worker didn't even wear a mask for safety). Thereafter, he would not respond to my calls or texts. I had my own mom now involved, to somehow get through to this man ... with no luck. No response. No acknowledgement. Nothing. The guy has continued still at the time I write this to not respond to us. I know people say things can replaced... but this guy took $2600 of my money, was careless with all my items, lied about the delivery and stole my stuff! At this point, I know I'm not getting my money back. I just want my stuff back. I want to warn anyone in the area not to use this company as I don't want to see what happened to ME happen to anyone of you. I am completely appalled at what transpired and sick to my stomach over it. So much is gone. I will be doing everything I can to get the word out because I would never wish this on anyone. This is supposed to be an exciting time, and to see how this was handled, and to have to go through this is heartbreaking. anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my stuff and how hard I worked for, how the littlest things were the simplest to me. I loved my stuff and I just want it back at this point... Even if it shows up at my New York address. I'm not hopeful. But please.. if you're reading this, do not use this company or if you hear someone that's using this company, stop them! I can't imagine someone else having to go through this!!!!!

DO NOT USE MEN ON THE MOVE…read more If I could give negative stars, I would. Our experience with this company was awful from start to finish, and the management somehow made it worse. On the day of our move, the crew arrived clearly high, reeking of weed-- and the smell lingered the entire day. They moved painfully slow; what should have been a 4-hour job turned into 7. They even disappeared for an hour between leaving our old home and arriving at the new one. When they finally showed up, the smell was overwhelming. They left dirty handprints all over our walls, broke several items without saying a word, and showed zero professionalism. When I contacted the company to file a complaint, the general manager was rude, dismissive, argumentative and unprofessional. He accused me of "trying to squeeze him for money" -- even though I only mentioned reimbursement for the broken item. He spoke to me condescendingly and wouldn't even let me finish a sentence. If I were the owner, I'd be embarrassed to have someone like that representing my business. The manager offered a $150 refund (out of a nearly $1,800 bill), claiming it was "out of the kindness of his heart." When the paperwork arrived, it was for less than what he promised. I called to correct it and never heard back. This company is unreliable, unprofessional, and dishonest. Save yourself the stress and choose a reputable moving company.
