This was quite different from any school I've dealt with before but because of what they teach it's actually an excellent venue. They have multiple parts to their building, including a small theater where they put on performances. We were here for a couple of hours while the one cofounder talked us through everything the school does. We got a full tour and quite the education on how things will work. We also got to introduce to several of the existing students who came to help answer questions from the potential students and their guests. I can definitely see where pretty much anyone could benefit from going to school here.

I didn't expect it to change my entire thinking on humans, emotions and life in general- and all for the better! I had been acting for years, but always felt a little wobbly in my process and authenticity- Marco and Robb helped me transform my ways and I feel like I can deliver more substantive performances now. Plus, I have started booking roles other than just commercials! The curriculum is well-structured, thoughtful and challenging. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, offering clear explanations and helpful strategies to approaching roles using the Meisner technique. One of the most valuable aspects of the course of course is meeting the other students and finding a safe inclusive environment. Encouragement to be ourselves, commitment to being present helps even the shyest among us shine. Positive immediate feedback helps us progress while homework and serious study leads to success. This is not a passive education- this is a hands on, what you put in is what you get out type conservatory, In addition to Meisner acting, the school provides useful resources and information like job boards, how to audition, write a resume, headshots, find an agent and more. Marco and Robb and Sam are the most gracious and open people so no question is denied. I am looking forward to continuing my studies with Truthful as the courses are always progressing with changes in the industry. Do yourself a favor and attend an open house at least and feel the welcome. I bet you will meet alumni and current student who show up just to hang out- because Truthful is their home away from home- where we feel our true selves.

I wish the membership was a tab bit more economical or even more had some better incentives for returning members. But I do I like that they allow the students to push for what they want to learn and that they hold workshops for learning. It's exactly the flexibility I feel like public schools are desperately lacking. Those are my personal positives and negatives.

Having tried other programs where we had to practically bribe our student to participate, Meta Humans has been a breath of fresh air. Our child genuinely loves going -- he'd happily attend seven days a week if they were open on weekends! We currently attend three times a week, and we've found that Meta Humans not only meets the socialization needs that homeschoolers sometimes struggle with, but it also helps fill in educational gaps in an engaging and effective way. For example, they offer typing -- a subject that would've been a major battle if I had introduced it at home. But because it's part of the Meta Humans curriculum, my child now asks to practice typing on weekends -- just for fun! That's the kind of magic they create: turning new skills into something enjoyable and self-motivated. The staff is absolutely wonderful. In particular, Glouie (aka Louie) takes the time to individualize care and support for each student. He has a deep understanding of the unique quirks and personalities of the kids and manages those differences with kindness, attentiveness, and real compassion. If I had one small wish, it would be for a French immersion option! With so many native French speakers on staff at this location, my son has become increasingly curious about the language -- and I'd love to take advantage of that exposure, especially since immersion is such a powerful way to learn. All in all, Meta Humans has been an incredible addition to our homeschool journey, and we're so grateful for the joy and growth it brings our family.

I understand I'm paying for the food and entertainment. But I've had better tasting fast food. Maybe it was an off night for them? Maybe they ran out of potatoes and had to use instant grainy tasting mashed potatoes? I don't know. The salad looked and tasted sad. It was servered on a warm plate. The lettuce was hot like it had been boiled. The crotons were stale and flavorless. No idea what sort of dressing they put on it. It was clear like water ( which at first I really thought maybe they had boiled the lettuce because of the tasteless clear fluids on my plate) I didn't upgrade my meal because I enjoy herb chicken, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. But my chicken was super dry. So dry I couldn't chew it and swallow. So I couldn't eat that. My chicken also still had some of it's feathers left behind on its drum leg. Already spoke about the grainy mashed potatoes. Which is just sad. Who chargers that price and serves box instant potatoes and then can't make them correctly enough to cook it until the grainy texture is out? Did they not taste their cooking before serving it? The mixed veggies were so salty that I would have had a heart attack if I had eaten them. I did do the $20 meat upgrade for my husband of the Filet Mignon. I put down medium rare. They confirmed medium rare at check him. He got well done and beyond. Pink? No where on the steak. Gray? The very center was a little gray in color. The outer edges were a brownish black. He could barely chew it. His mashed potatoes were just as mine were and so were his vegetables. We got the cheesecake for dessert. I should say we got the box cheesecake for dessert. You know the kind you buy frozen at the grocery store. It was the only thing edible. Thank goodness staff were friendly and the show nice. Will we do it again? No. Which I hate because we really love stuff like this. And we go to stuff like this often. But this was the worst in food we've been served and not the best in entertainment we've seen. It's also not the most we've spent on entertainment but its the most we've wasted on it. So even though the staff and performers were lovely people. They can't make up for the price in what the kitchen put out. Poor quality in pictures, sorry. The room was dem and dark with color lighting for the show and foggy for the time period. PechaKucha (pronounced puh-CHAW keh-SHAW), according to their website, "was devised in Tokyo, as a chance for creative people to meet, network, and share their work. Since its debut in 2003, it has turned into a massive celebration, with events in hundreds of cities around the world and audiences in the thousands." Orlando has had it's own night since 2010 and it has grown such a following that it fills up the Orange Studio in Mills50 and sells out every time! The concept is presenter talk about their favorite subject, 20 slides, 20 seconds a slide. It leads to very fluid, thoughtful, and yet tight presentation. This isn't death by powerpoint either! Slides are usually of stunning visuals that just happen to accompany the storyteller. So far I've been to PechaKucha Night in Orlando three times and each time has been so different. My favorite presentations are those which seem totally random and niche. Examples include the president of the Orlando Zoo presenting on how different animals have sex (LOL), to a sanitation expert explaining his life in relation to poop. There are always beer and wine available for a donation and usually the Tamale Food Truck and some desserts for purchase. Do yourself a favor and get tickets right away next time they become available. You WON'T regret it! And there's no doubt you'll leave the evening feeling inspired and even more in love with this city and it's inhabitants!

She had presented at…read morean event long before we became friends and when the event in February 2014 was coming up she mentioned it to a few of us and we made it a night out. I couldn't believe I had never heard about it. It almost seems like some sort of secret society thing but it keeps getting bigger and bigger due to word of mouth. And I am not surprised. The concept is simple: A presenter speaks on any topic of his/her choosing with 20 images appearing behind him, each for 20 seconds. This keeps the speaker focused and they don't venture off topic which is ideal for this event. They have Pechakucha all around the world and before the event begins, the screen flashes with the names of different cities that host the event. In February, there were several speakers speaking on the topic of love and I was blown away by all of them. There were a few where, yes, tears were shed as it seemed very relatable. And what really blew me away was that most of these individuals were just every day people like you and I speaking on something near and dear to their heart in front of several hundred strangers! To me, that takes guts! Since February, I have attended another event in October and look forward to the next one in February 2015. They are always looking for speakers so if you want to cross this off your bucket list, just do it! Just a few tips: --Tickets sell out fast! So when they become available, snag them! --Get there early. Lines form early for good seating. Not to mention having to park. They usually post a map on their event page with lots that are free to park in. ---Alcohol is served during the event. And there is usually a food truck of some sort in the lot to satisfy your hunger needs. In addition to the event itself, this is a great way to socialize afterwards and meet others with similar interests. I'll definitely be back!

We have been so impressed with our experiences at Synapse. First, the environment is warm and welcoming with a sense of family. It is obvious that the center truly cares about the children and families. Second, the management and staff are very responsive to all concerns and needs. Early on, I was impressed when my 6 year old daughter was soldering electronic components and using a 3-D laser printer.... Synapse responded to the COVID crisis by offering Virtual Summer Camps which were a life saver for this working mom. The virtual camp was well organized, planned and executed. My daughter loved the classes! And I was so impressed to see the results of her coding and Microsoft Office camps. She actually presented her PowerPoint presentation to my team. All were incredibly impressed. My Senior Director's response was "Soon, I will be working for a 12 year old!" This is especially awesome because this reaction is coming from a Senior Director of a huge, global technology company. Senior managers were impressed that she actually used elements that we rarely see in presentations and that employees could learn from this child. The Synapse Team is doing an amazing job in establishing an impressive foundation of skills for children's future!

From 3D printing to laser cutting they have a little bit of everything if you are a crafter. The instructors are there to help you and guide you through understanding all the library has to offer. Everyone there has been so incredibly nice and helpful I always learn so much when I visit. Definitely grateful to have something like this offer to Orange county residents. It does take a little bit of time to take all of the orientations and then take the assessments to use the machines but it's well worth it. They do have time limits on the machines but You're able to get quite a few projects done in a day. (Granted I've done 3D prints that have taken over 5 hours) So be prepared to potentially spend a lot of time here depending on what you're doing. If you're an Orange county resident I do recommend checking this place out. Even if you're not that crafty They offer other services that can help build your business or add to your hobbies.

Wow- This is seriously one of the coolest places in town!…read more For what? Well, the Melrose Center (MC) houses audio, visual, photo, simulation, 3D printing, tech work spaces, and so much more. I took a tour today of the center after having heard tons of buzz (and being a bit embarrassed to say that I hadn't visited it yet. I looked online and realized that they hold orientations and tours daily- and today they were at 2pm. I was right on time (parked right across the street in the lot on Central) and met Ben at the desk. We started with one of the classroom spaces that has some great simulation gear, but he then led me to the Simulation Lab, a room with crazy-cool driving, flight, and construction vehicle simulators! We're talking multi-screen seating with all of the controls you'd use in those real machines. VERY good start! We walked over to a section of the MC, called Tech Central, which was set up with presentation seating. They have a drop down screen and projector connected to an iPad for this area and they don't charge you to use it and hold meetings (you have to schedule it ahead of time though). I was geeking out hard core when we went by the various workspaces around the center. It's mostly open-plan with movable desks and spaces that you can adjust as your group needs. They had brand new MacPros with dual screens that anyone can use (with all of the Adobe and creative suites you can think of). Then came the real crazy stuff. An audio production studio; video production studio; sound boxes for recording podcasts, voice overs, your pretty voice, etc; photo studio with light boxes for photographing products; editing bays; conference room; etc. HOLY FREAKING MOLEY. The photo studio and Sound Booths can be reserved for FREE for 2 hours a day, any 3 days a week and the audio and video studios can be booked for 4 hours a day, 3 days a week. That means that we all have full access to professional studios and equipment for between 6 and 12 hours a week for free. I'm kind of freaking out right now, guys. If you have some time, take a walk over to the Melrose Center and check out the space. You will likely see me as I will be working from there at least twice a week from now on! ~sigh~ Places like this remind me why I love this city!!

The sound track to the, almost, 2 hour show was heavy on Dubstep and some of the artists represented are Bassnectar, Magnetic Man, Taio Cruz and Skrillex. Now for the not so positive... The AntiGravity Orlando is being housed in the old Movie Rider building off of 1-92. The facade of the building is dark and when we walked up, we weren't even sure they were actually open. There was no clear box office or person manning the booth and although we were welcomed by a gentleman, I wasn't sure if he were associated with the theatre or just an inebriated patron. There is a cash bar area over to the left of the theatre serving beer, wine and a few cocktails. Also available are 4 types of hot hors d'oeuvres for around the $4. mark each. I found out that the bar and food is catered by Houlihan's. The smell of the hors d'oeuvres was really cloying as the evening progressed and by mid show I was wishing for the smell to disappear. The show's acts of "anti-gravity" are woven together with a schmaltzy story and narrator. I do not blame the actor, but the script itself made the boyfriend and I roll our eyes and wish for the mic system to fail. It was a "clean" show, however several comments were made to audience members that were out of line. The theatre itself is too small to house the performers and to really see what they were doing I had to crane my neck. There is really no good seat in the house. The surroundings feel grimy, mirrors are cracked and low lighting just adds to the derelict feel. Although I can tell what the designer was aiming for, it just feels poorly executed. Full priced tickets are right at the $40 dollar mark for adults and $25 for children. Thankfully, we were invited to see the show free of charge, as to have been out of pocket for $80 bucks would have been upsetting. If you've never seen aerial acrobatics anywhere else, and you will never be able to see one of the other large and well known troupes, then by all means see this show. Just be prepared for a slightly grungier experience than you were expecting, and I wouldn't buy tickets for too far in the future.
