I would sleep on the floor for Jeanette's breakfasts. And plan to order their homemade pizza and salad one night. It could be the best dinner of your trip. The house faces a gorgeous view of Lake Kueka, the Luna suite was spacious and comfortable, the bed was great, and each room has an en-suite bathroom. The whole house was spotless. We also took advantage of Steven's wine tour, letting him choose the destinations (excellent and varied) and drive so we could enjoy the tastings. He delivered a beautiful charcuterie board at our third stop. After a hard day of vineyard visits, we played pool, darts, and cornhole in Moonshadow's well stocked game room. Away from our temporary home, we visited the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, hiked to several waterfalls around Ithaca (Buttermilk Falls was our favorite), and enjoyed the Corning Museum of Glass. On Jeanette and Steven's recommendation, we stopped by the Muranda dairy farm in Waterloo for a cheese tasting. It was fabulous! Watkins Glen State Park is less than an hour away and you could even add a day trip to Niagara Falls. Whatever you do during the days, plan to start and end them at Moonshadow!

The location on Keuka Lake is serene and picturesque, with a small waterfall on the property. It is close to the Azure Hill, Dr. Franck, Heron Hill and Keuka Lake wineries. My wife and I stayed for four nights. The newly renovated rooms were large and comfortable. The coffee was ready early. The breakfasts were delicious. Whether we had eggs, bagels and lox, pancakes, or muffins, everything was well prepared and expertly presented. If wineries is your thing, Steven will chauffeur you around to some really nice ones, and throw in a brewery to boot. In the evenings, Jeanette and Steven are engaging to talk to and fun to be with. Prior to arrival you are provided with a door code to enter the B&B. Upon entering envelopes with guests last names are waiting by the door. Inside are instructions for your stay. When in the public areas of the B&B masks and social distancing are required. The large wraparound porch is big enough that for the most part masks would not be required to enjoy the view. There are several rooms to choose from. Each has a private bathroom, some en-suite and some located near your room. When booking your choice of room the type of bathroom accommodation is clearly listed. My wife prefers having the bathroom en-suite so no surprises is important. Our room was tastefully decorated, very clean, neat and comfortable. I was concerned that social distancing would limit the quality of the breakfast. I need not have worried. Magnolia Place has a large breakfast room with several socially distanced tables. Included in our stay instructions was a breakfast time. This allowed for breakfast to be served without all of the guests being present at the same time. As for breakfast, both days Ron served an amazing gourmet meal. It is obvious that Ron puts a lot of thought into the meals he prepares. The items served all complement each other and change daily. These meals are delicious and home cooked. Nothing frozen or store prepared here. If your diet requires something special, just let Ron know ahead of time. For those who need their morning coffee there is no need to wait for your breakfast time. Coffee and a multitude of tea choices were available at 7:00 AM. Magnolia Place is conveniently located around 10 minutes north of Watkins Glen. There are several restaurants in Watkins Glen and nearby to choose from for dinner. During the day there are several wineries close by to tour. The local scenery is beautiful. Another in our party was told that there is a trail behind the B&B for hiking. I did not see this so other than knowing of it I cannot speak to it. I highly recommend Magnolia Place B&B. We are very particular about accommodations when traveling and would not have made this our second visit with plans for future visits if they had not met our expectations.

The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests each morning. We found that other than us, everyone we talked to had stayed at the B&B prior and were return/frequent visitors which is a huge testament to the quality of this inn. A great location for hiking Watkins Glen or visiting the many wineries in the area. We will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to visit this area again.

If you are extra lucky, they might even serenade you. I have been here twice, and both times stayed in the room with the bath that is disconnected from the room. It is NOT a shared bath, it is just a few steps outside the room. Not a big deal at all and it's HUGE. Paradise on the Lake is a great home base when exploring the gorgeous Finger Lakes. So be assured whatever they come up with for breakfast you will be extremely happy. Every morning it was fun to get to the dining room to see how beautifully Tami had set the table. Every day was a different display of beautiful flatware and dishes etc. The Inn is also a short walk from the lake, and marina. It was great to walk down and watch people launch and recover their boats, you can also rent boats and other water sport items there as well. Dining was within walking distance or short drives. Not to mention all the wonderful wineries located nearby. This is wine country after all, I didn't realize how far NY wines had come. Lots to see and do and when the day is over come back to the Inn with one of those bottles of wine , grab a glass from the selection in the hallway outside the small common area upstairs, (where early morning coffee is available), then take yourself off to the porch and enjoy the evening . Quaint and charming, yes but also spacious and luxurious at the same time. The common areas are beautiful and huge. The front room has two fireplaces (one at each end). Perfect for sitting and relaxing with a coffee or tea if you happen to be there in the fall or winter. The rooms are spacious as well. But what really sets the place apart is the friendly and accommodating atmosphere provide by owners Joe and Kathy and THE FOOD! This is no basic eggs, bacon and pancake place in the morning. Breakfast usually consist of 3 to 4 courses, everyone of which is a delight to all the senses. Some of my favorites are the candied bacon, ham & cheese sliders and the pan-shake (a pancake and syrup flavored milkshake made with real pancakes, syrup, ice cream and milk)...YUM.
