Well guys....someone had to take one for the team! I took the plunge and delved into unknown territory last night checking out this fairly new Thai restaurant in my neighborhood. No reviews yet on Yelp? I saw that as a mission.
Hmm where to even start?? I was severely disappointed by this place. Even though the staff is all smiles and friendly, geez I wonder if they have never been to a restaurant before because they are so clueless. And the food was majorly disappointing. To begin, we arrive and are given the menu and I kid you not, literally not even a full minute later, our waitress asks us if we are ready to order. Umm the menu was several pages long - I barely had time to look over page 1 so no. Give me a hot minute. Geez. Then she comes back again 2 minutes later. Damn. Chill please! I don't take forever to pick, but seriously stop stressing me out and give me a freaking minute to breathe!
Then I look over At the table next to us and see that the waiter is literally removing an appetizer dish from a girl that is still eating! Say what??! He continues to take it away so she picks up the rest of the spring roll and the sauce and spares them while the whole table looks on in horror. Wow major faux pas.
The whole time I'm here im just observing and I see something similar happen at the table across from me. Like the dude is just finishing his appetizer and barely puts the spoon down when it is taken away and within a minute, his main course arrives. Like freaking lightening speed! Barely a minute passed between the moment when the guy finished his starter and the waiter took it away when suddenly he had his main course in front of him. Ur supposed to give people a second to breathe and digest and build up an appetite in between courses. I mean damn. Even in America where service is quick and people are in and out of restaurants, at least ur given time to enjoy ur meal. No one is in a rush here!
So anywho we order a nice bottle of wine and the dude doesn't ask who wants to taste it - he just automatically pours a bit for my BF - hello sexist much? Maybe I wanted to be the taster. I'll let that slide but the next part I won't. The waiter didn't do such a clean job pouring the wine and some drops of wine I guess were coming down at the top of the bottle so the waiter wipes down the bottle SEVERAL TIMES (after each time he poured - aka 3 times) with HIS FINGER! I don't know where your finger has been and that is a MAJOR faux pas if I ever saw one! Like since when is it ok to rub ur possibly dirty fingers all up near the opening of a wine bottle for customers??? Gross.
So back to our meal - our appetizers come out within literally about 2 minutes of having placed the order. So much for freshness! But I'll let that slide, since they were Thai sausages and maybe don't require much prep. The second our forks hit the plate, bam! Our dish was immediately removed and I made a bet that our main course would arrive within a minute. Sure enough! Out it comes. Wtf. We both ordered noodle dishes and u know that couldn't have been cooked fresh in the 5 minutes since we arrived and placed our order. Ugh. 15 euro pad Thai at that!! Not exactly cheap.
Let's talk about that pad Thai tho. It had NO FLAVOR. Seriously none. I was so sad eating it and kept thinking to myself "if I made myself noodles or even just plain old pasta at home, it would have had more flavor than this." The chicken in it was super dry and overall just sad.
I felt rushed to eat cuz I didn't want the server coming over and taking my food away while I was still eating, like I saw him do to others.
While I was eating, I also observed what was going on around me, and literally they were in such a rush to get people in and out. (Despite the fact that there were tons of free tables everywhere and it's not like anyone was lined up waiting.) I saw several tables be rushed through their meals and new tables come and replace them. Crazy! All within the 35 minutes that our restaurant experience lasted. Can u believe that? 35 minutes in an out. It was a chill Saturday night, not a Tuesday lunch break where I'm in a rush to get back to work and need to eat in a pinch. Like literally from the time we arrived, were sat down, given the menu, placed our orders, had a starter and a main course, and then left and paid, the whole thing was only 35 minutes. And we were purposely trying to take our time. Like we slowly finished up the wine, and when asked if we wanted dessert, even tho we knew we didn't we still asked for the dessert menu "just to buy ourselves an extra minute". LOL.
Oh yes forgot to add, I witnessed another major faux pas at one point. This dude ordered a beer and the server poured 75% foam!!! Like literally 3/4 were foam. lol. The dude was gonna be nice and roll with it, but eventually he asked for another beer. LOL.
Overall, I think the staff mean well and are certainly friendly and smile a lot, but I just think they are completely clueless. read more
