We were able to sit where we liked and we chose the terrace. Nice area with a breeze and able to see the people walking by on the busy street. Unfortunately the service and food were not up to par. The waitress was extremely inattentive, glued to her phone the entire time we were there, greeting a friend mid-sentence while speaking to us (we were asking for fresh water because the pitcher she gave to us had bugs and hairs floating on the top) and also smoking a cigarette when we asked for to go boxes (she told us to wait for her to finish). The food was lackluster - my curry was sweet, lacking any depth of flavor, the sauce watery and the vegetables barely cooked. My sister did enjoy her Thai basil and this was the only outright positive of our visit. Would not come again. read more

Food was great. Like really good. The woman who was one of the hostesses should be happy that I was zen'd out from just having had a wonderful massage otherwise our interaction would not have ended as well as it did. This isn't a case of what people call French rudeness (not a real thing). She just seems to be an unhappy, unpleasant person who shouldn't interact with the public. I hope someone from the restaurant sees this as it may be the reason they don't have a 5 star rating, which they could (easily) based on the rest of the staff and the food quality. read more

On February 27th 2024 around 6:15 pm, I accidentally bumped into this tourist trap. The waitress is rude beyond words, the boss is greedy, the food is like overly boiled chopped veggies mixed with lard. I simply asked for some hot water and the waitress even had to ask the boss for permission to give me hot water!!! Permission granted but the bill came out to be tea and I was charged!!!! The waitress told me her restaurant did not give hot water to customer who is eating there she claimed the charge is automatic! I asked for permission to get hot water and I was charged for tea! The waitress was unapologetic and confrontational. Please check for rating under Yelp and not under their website. There is a huge difference in rating! I know...I know...my first meal in Paris was Thai food but my stomach was feeling queasy after my redeye flight and like the good Asian I am, I needed some rice to settle my stomach. MonThai was like a beacon of light in the pouring rain. This small, hip shop had lots of office workers enjoying their meals so we decided to stop on by. My two friends ordered the pad thai poulet while I went with a beef red curry. The counter chic was super nice and was able to explain some of the dishes I could not recognize in French. Our to go order was ready in less than 10 minutes and we happily brought it back to our apt and dug in. Amazing flavors awaited us. Huge portions at a great price. As noted, the paper containers are a little bit awkward to eat out of...my curry was about to sweat a burning hole at the bottom but luckily I helped it disappear! This new Thai "street food" restaurant has a panoply of delicious sounding dishes that are cooked up in front of your eyes by two (Thai?) women in the open kitchen in the back. They also sell premade Thaï sandwiches, salads and desserts that look yummy too. Though I really like the concept of AHQFF (authentic, high quality fast food) and the look and feel of the space, but my chicken with thai basil (9.30E) that I ordered to go was swimming in sauce and too sweet for my taste. Plus the take-away boxes were awkward to eat out of. I'm not giving up on Monthai though since I like a lot of things about it (name, design, originality, friendly service) and plan on eating sur place to see if the quality is any different. read more

Street food , restaurant price In love with thai food since my last trip over there, I am always happy to eat some pad thai or sticky rice. What a pleasure to discover a "new" restaurant serving this kind of food and selling it as being a "street food" shop. I already went few times there The food is good. The service is fast. You can take away ; i even wonder if the take away portions are not bigger They deliver. BUT - the price is a bit high for "street food" 9.50 euros for a pad thai if you take beef with curry and sticky rice it will cost you around 12 euros (almost the same than in another thai restaurant) - too much oil , sure it makes the food great but me fat too :p - the service is not the most friendly and warm I would give a 3.5 cause after all it s not all bad and I often go there ;) read more

I was disappointed. The service was fast but the food lacked flavour. My spring rolls had very little filling in them & the prawn Thai green curry was swimming in sauce and it lacked a balance of flavours. The vegetables were lukewarm, as though they just been thrown in to warm through before it was served. I'm sure it wouldn't take much effort to improve the standard. Not only was the food not tasty, but the service was one of the worst I have ever witnessed. I came with a party of 4, and after reading other Yelp reviews, it seemed like they served very large portions. Thus my party of 4 ordered 2 dishes with the intent to share, just as we do frequently in other restaurants. While other restaurants do not mind and are understanding, the owner of Monthai was extremely rude. Not only did he yell at us but he refused to offer us extra plates to eat our food. The waitress with red hair was equally rude and rolled her eyes so often that I thought maybe something was wrong with her. I would never eat here if I were you. Is it authentic? not really. Does it taste good? yes. Last week was a crazy week, so my boyfriend and I made good use of the various delivery companies competing against each other in Paris. We ordered in twice from Monthai, both times getting pad thais (I got veggie each time, he tried the chicken and then the shrimp). The portions are huge (so big that I was stuffed afterwards), it is super fast, and arrived to us both times still too hot to eat. It definitely isn't the most "authentic" of Thai options in Paris, but it really does taste good and is super filling, for about 10 euros for a Pad Thai, so is a good option if you're too busy/lazy/tired to cook. The only issue I took is that one night we ordered a mango sticky rice as well as our pad thai, and it was packed in the bag on its side so leaked all over the bag and we lost a lot of the coconut milk (also it's not the best sticky rice, I don't know if I'd get it again). read more

It's not street food and not really authentic. But I was really happy to find this spot on Montorgueil, a street which I feel doesn't have much choice when you don't want a full on lunch and you're not feeling like pizza or a turkish sandwich. We wanted something light and ordered the two salads (de boeuf and salmon mi-cuit). Because they salad prices were cheap (6, 50€) we expected something tiny and supplemented our order with nems and a tuna tartare. The salads were way bigger than expected. They had been pre-prepared and were served in takeaway plastic bowls, same with the tuna tartare. For the price I had no complaints. The ingredients were fresh and delicious if not truly thai. Our shrimp and banane nems were prepared to order. The flavor rift on nems was interesting in a good way. Food came out quickly (since most of it was pre-prepared) and our waitress was very attentive and helpful. For the price, quality and service, I definitely recommend this place if you just need a quick bite. read more

My family and I stopped here on a whim, and couldn't of made a better choice for dinner! I had the opportunity to go to Thailand last summer, and our meal was so authentic! My mother and I were looking for a quick bite that did not cost 50 Euros and this busy place fit the bill! The food was freshly prepared, hot, and delicious! I asked what the guy next to me was having, substituted for chicken, and was in Thai-food-in-France heaven! I can't wait to go back and try the noodles. We were given a pitcher of water in a spotted pitcher, but it was clean enough I guess. (Water spots, right?) It was super busy and crowded with to-go customers and tight seating for dining in. Tight seating is common in Paris, so no complaints. Not suited for a large party or strollers. Tip: There's a sink to wash your hands near the cashier in the rear far left. read more

Wandering passed we were a bit deterred by the empty place ( admittedly it was only 6pm) but their place was amazing. Dirt cheap and an amazing, fresh pad thai. Pad thais are notoriously hit and miss, often not limely enough or just far too oily but this was delicious. I got a hugely generous serving and for about 9 euros! I couldnt even finish it. So impressed. Will definitely go back. The layout is also very cool, very modern and spacious. Definitely got my Asian hit after being away from Australian for a couple of months now. read more

For the price, the food is very good. The service is quick and nice. The decoration is pleasant. When I arrived before 4 others who were to join me, I "reserved" the next available table for 5. Once the others arrived, there were already other customers taking the table that had just freed up. I asked the server if this was normal and he asked the others to move for me and my friends. That was very nice. Also, one of the orders was wrong and the server immediately sent out right plate. Overall, very good food and service for a very goods price. FYI, this was home delivery food, not at their restaurant. Seriously, how could anyone rate this even remotely acceptable?? Firstly , there is NOTHING Thai about this food. The news: non, large and without taste. The salade papaya Som Tam was a travesty of a simple dish that is a staple of Thai cuisine and of which I have eaten dozens of different versions. Here it was a few sprigs of papaya, normal lettuce and uncut tomatoes? WTF? The spicy chicken could have come from any low rent Chinese takeout place, and the mango was an embarrassment: 1/10 of a piece of mango, and mealy rice. They were quick (delivery in 25 minutes), but I would have preferred the cheap Chinese down the road: food's not that great, but it doesn't pretend to be anything else than it is: cheap and filling. Monthai is a joke, played on locals who have no idea what good Thai, or even , just plain Thai, is. I'd love to know why they call their food Thai. Maybe some idiot French daddy's boy spent a weekend in Phuket and thought I can do this? read more

Cool place to have a quick dinner or lunch. They are extremely fast and the quality is great. We arrived at 15 and it was really quite. We walked past it one evening and it was completely full. Pho soup is great and also the salmon with spring onion is a good choice. read more
