We found ourselves wandering around the Marais area and it was late, well, 9 pm, so most places were pretty full. We could've went to one of the trendy restaurants...we even went back to some of our past places, but nothing seemed right. We had walked by Au Petit Thai many times, and decided to give it a try. Intimate atmosphere when you walk in...subdued lighting and candles. The evening's formulae was 36E per person and included a bottle of wine. Our server, very friendly and cheerful spoke no English, and my French is only good for ordering croissants, so we knew we were in for an interesting evening. We both not the "nems Thai" which were spring rolls. Nice big crunchy rolls filled with beef and vegetables. Very good! I got the chicken with sauteed vegetables. The dish was delicious, however, there wasn't much heat like some Thai places. The partner got the pork caramel which was equally good too! So we described it as French Thai Fusion which tastes just as great! I'm not sure if the French palate is geared toward really spicy foods. Dessert was also included. I decided on the tapioca with lotus and the partner got the nems chocolat with whipped cream. Mine must've been made on the spot because it was really hot when it came out and there were some toasted pistachios on top. It was really good! The partner's was like fried mini spring rolls filled with chocolate mousse....very good!. I can't believe we didn't come to the restaurant sooner, or on a previous trip. But we will definitely be back. The owner did speak English so we were able to get through the evening fairly well!

Excellent location! The food was very good. My wife and I had a vegetable soup, prawn fried noodles and chicken with plain rice. We also had the chocolate spring rolls as dessert which was very delicious. Strongly recommended!

Warm tapioca soup with nuts & fruit makes for a fantastic dessert.
