Adelaide

20/1/2012 Photos First to Review Dear Peter, owner of Colour…read moreTech. YOU are the reason for this high rating. Your store? I believe you, because you nailed every single one of my questions. Your store is kind of like meeting one of your long-lost relatives. Where have you been all of my life?! Both Peter and every employee that walked past me definitely scored high for their friendliness. I was raised by my folks to be nice to everyone, and say hi when you walk past someone (only if they acknowledge you also)...EVERY single employee said hello to me! Yay! Also, you were the first owner to tell me that price was not the most important thing to him. He emphasised that the reason he's lasted 18 years, when the rest disappeared from Adelaide, was he put best service to his customers as his number one priority. I'm really HAPPY to hear this! This sounds like my kinda store! When several other printing businesses around Gawler Place have disappeared, service prevailed. So cool. Like the rest of my family, we are all perfectionists, and want our productions to look perfect. This printing business will get your stuff done, and browsing through their catalogue, they do it really well. Something that is definitely impressive about your business is how knowledgeable you were about your own offerings. I mean, he answered every single one of my questions very well, and he was pleasant enough to clarify, and even add a few jokes here and there! He told me that I can email him anytime, no matter where I am in Australia (or even if I'm overseas, like in Africa!!!) and he'll get it all done and sent to me through the post, whatever I needed! Now that's a business owner who's inspiring me to do something new with y life, as I write this review! Your business has left a great impression on me, so let's leave it at that....and I'm glad you can service me if I am working out of Adelaide! He didn't reveal any of his prices, because he said it varies according to what each customer wants (colour vs black and white, big banner vs small training manual), but I certainly love his offerings, service and conversation skills! But the real reason anyone should go? To add colour and high quality to your work and presentations! Once you step in for the first time, he welcomes you to the world of digital printing - they have solutions to create a high quality, professional image. From a short run full colour presentation document to high volume training manuals or product literature, Colour Tech has the solution for you! It's what they do! No wonder high-paid Corporate people, Government employees and nearby Departments use your business for over 18 years and still running. I wonder if any other printing business in Adelaide can compete with this guy? If so, I'd like to know.

A new cafe in an old corner grocery store has breathed life back into a sad little shop…read more We went there for a Friday morning coffee (opens at 830) and 3 hours later we were still there after our 2nd cups/pots of tea that pour seemingly endless cups (ok..maybe 3). It's advertised as a cooking school, cafe and "stuff" venue, and is starting slowly with openings just Mon - Friday until 4pm, but they have events coming up, and have various cooking opportunites, including classes for kids - so keep up to date on https://www.facebook.com/FiveLittleFigs. The breakfasts that were served looked generous and delicious, and they have gluten, wheat and vegan food on offer and it looks fresh and sumptuous...next time! They cater to children, so if you're worried about young people playing (and crying) - don't come! I see this as a refuge for parents who want to meet their friends while their kids can draw on the chalk board or have something to eat at their own table. Support a new local, or pop out of your way for a quirky, delicious cafe.

We asked for a menu and sat down and noticed the menu was pretty much a standard breakfast menu minus the healthier or more foodie special options befitting a gourmet cooking school. So I went up to order and after we ordered I noticed there was a specials board (which you wouldn't necessarily expect to see for breakfast) which was hidden from view from the dining area. Luckily it had one green Juice and two healthier more interesting breakfast options so we changed our order. It's surprising they didn't direct us to the menu board when we were given the menu. The green juice was excellent, and so was the mushrooms on toast. The creamed oats were not too creamy, just right. The coffee was terrible, the worst I have seen for a while. A 'flat white' is normally not literally white! The 'crema' on the top was white with not a tinge of brown and it tasted over milky as well.

There are so many antique dealers specialising in second hand furniture on Magill Road it's really…read morehard to know where to start! This place is probably the best bet. The shop is a huge old house with the warehouse attached out the back. I love exploring the house, wandering from room to room and discovering new treasures in every nook and cranny. Pedlars is the best mix of variety, affordability and quality on this strip. Kensington Antiques is the only place that beats them on price, but they don't have quite the range and their pieces don't tend to be in quite as good condition. Pedlars sells stuff for individual dealers (I think it's a consignment type arrangement), so there are two stages of quality assesment before the stock gets to the shop floor. They do auctions here too, which I imagine would be very worthwhile as it's at auctions that most furniture dealers pick up their goods before they inflate the prices to on sell to the end user. I have always found the staff really obliging and lovely here. They've allowed me to negotiate prices down and then happily manuevered a slightly too big table down the very narrow staircase for me at closing time. Customer service win!

Definitely one of the better antique stores down Magill Road, Pedlar's stocks not only beautiful…read morefurniture from around the world, but they also stock some beautiful decorative and collectable items, which I simply adore. These items are so unique, and for antique/collectable items, some of the prices are affordable to practically anyone, which I like. Not only do they specialise in items from France, Denmark and England, they also buy and sell local items. Also, they sometimes auction off the items they have for sale, which would definitely be something to keep your eye out for. So check out the website for more information on that. The outside of the store is eye catching, and one of the reasons I really wanted to venture inside of this store - I adore it.

After doing each twice I called and they said they would tell the sales team. Still nothing. I followed up by email twice but got no response again. I called and asked for a refund and the guy said he would tell the sales team. I asked him to make the refund happen over the phone and he said he had done it and it would take 3 business days to process. It is nearly two weeks later and I still haven't received a refund. I followed up again by email and through the chat bot because it is difficult for me to contact them during business hours and I still have received nothing. Very poor treatment.

Cecere's has always been the go-to place for my musical needs. Whether it be repairs on my guitars,…read moreor simply a new pack of strings, for years this shop has provided great service with friendly, well-learned staff. I took guitar lessons when I first moved to Adelaide at Cecere's, back when they were situated further up Magill Road. They've always been extremely helpful with my musical endeavours, giving me advice on playing technique, instrument maintenance, and much more. Though the shop isn't stocked with all the latest products, and their range can be somewhat limited, they have plenty of the essentials, such as Fender, Ibanez and ESP (LTD) guitars. They're a little bit pricier than other music shops, but I don't mind paying a little bit extra. With goliaths like Allans/Billy Hyde, you've got to give the underdog a fighting chance. Cecere's also has private one-day sales that you can find out about through invitations in the mail. You can get some amazing deals on guitars, pedals and other accessories; but you'll have to be quick, as the good stuff is often gone if you turn up too late. Sign up for this if you love a good bargain!

Legit, locally-owned hardware store with knowledgeable staff. The cashier was really young, but he…read moreknew what he was doing. I picked up some gardening stuff: plants and potting soil. Turned out to be a few bucks cheaper than what you'd pay at Bunnings. Quick access from the city along North Terrace. Takes about 10min by car. Booyakasha! Will be back.

I know for a lot of people, Bunnings is synonymous with hardware. In the same way that people who…read moreshop at woolworths and think that they are getting the best price possible just won't visit a foodland, a lot of Bunnings customers are loyal to the point of self-punishment. I on the other hand, would prefer to spend my money at somewhere like Banner Mitre 10. The first reason is that like Woolies, Coles and Dan Murphy's, Bunnings are owned by one of those dominating behemoths (in this case Wesfarmers) which squeeze their supply chain, their staff and everyone else involved in the process. Like Woolies and Coles, what you end up with is not the best products, but rather products with high margins that can be bought in bulk, and if they break it just goes in the bin and you get a new one, and a new one, and another new one. Don't get me wrong... Bunnings has its place. It's a good place to go for say Stanley tools, Hills products etc, but if you want a good chainsaw, like the Stihl I bought on the weekend, there's no way you going to get it at Bunnings. What you're going to get is a piece of crap Ozito or something for $100 less which you can only cut 2x4 pine with before it craps itself. Now, onto my Banner Mitre 10 review... I used to work for these guys about 9 years ago while at uni and they are a great family run business. They treated us well as staff and had great discounts for staff and end of year parties. I felt like I was part of the family. After a few years living too far from the store, I've moved back fairly close to the area, so I popped in to look at ladders. They have a great selection of Bailey ladders and don't stock the cheap crap that Bunnings do. They also price matched a quite ridiculously low price I had for the chainsaw from one of my work's suppliers, so I'll definitely be back. They have a great trade section and friendly staff. What I'm trying to get at here is that there are other options apart from Bunnings for hardware/tools and home improvement products. Give these guys a go because they know their stuff, have better brands and service and are family run.
