As someone who does work from home a little bit, I have learnt a few things (and these are just my top 3):
1. It can get a bit lonely
2. Meetings/interviews can be difficult if you need somewhere private and quiet and not a coffee shop
3. It can be hard to stay focussed on work (I'm looking at you, Netflix)!
This is where That Space comes in. This is a 'communal workspace', an office that is filled with different types of people running different types of businesses. This is great for networking (especially with the available community noticeboard) or just having other people around to motivate you to actually work!!
How it works is you rent a space at a 'per month' price - from 10 hours access a week to unlimited access 24/7. All memberships include wifi, printing and scanning facilities, access to a shared kitchen (tea bags included!) and use of private booths for conference calls or Skype sessions. You can upgrade your package to include use of the meeting room if you need it - this space has a meeting table, Apple TV and whiteboard/projection surfaces for meetings or presentations.
There is also an option of a visitor's pass - $30 will get you a desk space, wifi and printing facilities for a working day. Not bad if you just need an office for a day! The location is great, right on the Parade above Juice Bureau (note: money you save on office space rental WILL be spent on juice). The vibe in this place is friendly and though businesslike it's still got the right touch of casual - one of the ladies when I was there had even brought her puppy to work and it sat quietly under her desk :)
I really like the idea of these communal offices - much more cost effective than having to rent a whole property, and the networking & collaboration potential is a bonus! The general vibe of the place as well as its affordability is what makes it rate highly for me. read more
