What is the malted liquor? What gets you drunker quicker? What comes in bottles or in cans? Can't get enough of it, How we really love it, Makes me think I'm a man... That's right. It's beer! Nectar of the gods. Sent down from Valhalla by the bearded beer lords of old, to fill our mortal bellies and keep us in good health. I love pubs where you can get a huge variety of different beers from all over the world, but there's something special about a brewshed/cellar door. Having all the beers from one brewery on tap with the head brewers there pouring it for you and answering all your silly questions is a unique experience that can't be beat. The great thing about Little Bang is that they are still quite a small operation, so brewers Phil and Ryan are there front and centre to make you feel at home. The setup is quite modest and there's good reason; these guys have one of the only 100% independently owned breweries in SA. Ryan and Phil started off as a couple of video game programmers and after that industry collapsed in SA, they turned their passion for tasty beers into their careers. They are also really great people and you can see that they are putting lot of time and effort into their business. Ryan gave us a tour and really went into the science behind how the beer is made. He gave us a lesson on malt which was quite amusing because he said endosperm a few times; and showed us all the equipment and processes. As for the beers, for my palate Little Bang are on point. Their paler beers like Uncommon Cloud saison and ICON "Steam Ale/India Pale Lager-type thing" are very sessionable brews; while their porters pack flavour and depth. My favourite of all their beers though are their "freezer cleaners" which are made from left over ingredients in their freezer. Not like your home freezer though - think a fancy brewery freezer. There are no 2 year old chicken nuggets in these beers. Just tasty tasty malts, yeasts and hops. I really love that there are small breweries like this popping up in Adelaide and as they are not far from home I'll be visiting more often. Their beer garden while small is a good place to sit and enjoy a tasty brew. Cheers.

    Choc, coffee beer, yummy!

Cool hidden brewery, this place is pretty nice. The owners are really friendly and yes, if you want to know more about the beers they have over there, I'm sure they will happily tell you all about it :) they can cater for function too, so yea, think of pizza and food truck and amazing beers for a great unique function in a brewery! So drink up, drink up and tell all your friends about it :)

Very disappointed with the feed me menu. Some average starters, 2 steaks & half a deep fried chicken for 3 people

I have had some of their beers before, namely because I wandered into a bottle shop, but it was great to actually visit the brewery itself. Yeah, the beers are pretty awesome, and the service wasn't bad at all. It may be a bit of a trek to get to, but it is definitely worth it.

There is so much to brag about how wonderful prancing pony is, so I'll do my best to get it all…read moredown. Firstly, let me start with my slight hiccups. I came for a visit on a Saturday, it was quite busy, and the staff had asked if we had made a reservation. I suggest booking a table if you're planning a visit, especially on a weekend. The brewery has a great airy and open feel to it, a variety of tables and seating, and great decorations hanging about. There was a large variety of pub style to choose from, I opted for the nachos, although my friend wanted salad and was told that both salad options listed on the menu were no longer being offered. The best part, however, were the endless options of beers. They had a variety of selections on tap, a few ciders, and even cans and bottles to take home. I ordered the Zeppelin IPA and I loved it. Overall, I highly recommend paying this brewery a visit up in the hills, it was great.

Sure it sounds like a sales gimmic but I believe them and they are south Australian too. I have to support local business. I love their new nashi pear cider. Its like nothing I have ever tasted before in a pear cider. It has a strong woody after taste. I love it. Cant wait to try their apple and ginger flavour. I hope this local continues to do well.

Holy heck they have a hopped cider, this is amazing, my boyfriend doesn't really like cider and he loves hoppy beer like IPA's whereas I like cider and do not like beer specially not IPA's, this cider works for both of us and that hop flavour is so delicate but definitely there. Need to purchase over and over again. 2. Now, we don't want to condone binge drinking, BUT who doesn't love an 8% cider...Ginger and Apple cider i discovered is high in alcohol but not only that delicious, tart and tasty with that little ginger kick which I love, if you are a light weight you may only need 1-2 of these and be done. The event made me open my eyes to such a larger range which is so much tastier than the basic apple and pear, it makes things interesting, i hate sweet ciders but these two different options are not sweet nor girly!! Delish! Get me one now because work is hectic (obviously since I am writing a review whilst being at work).

South Australian Brewing Company produce West End beer and have done so for as long as I can…read moreremember. They have a large brewery on Port Road with that rich bitter smell of hops emanating from it from time to time indicating that all is well in the world of beer production. You can get a group together and go for a walking tour around the brewery if you so wish. It is quite an interesting process and even though I've done it a few times in my life each time I do enjoy myself and I always am a little enamoured with them for their community spirit. They keep a rather twee, but good for the kids, fantasy land beside the brewery in a park area that comes to life at Christmas, and looks a little odd for the rest of the year. They also maintain a charity spot on Port Road where you can fill your water bottle - all the money goes to charity, and you get great quality local water. The walking tours are designed for groups of a minimum of 10 people on a pre-booking basis; you get to see (and smell) the raw materials used for brewing, the fermentation cellars, the brew house, keg handling and the amazing canning and bottling process. If you are not a group of ten people you can give them a call and see about tagging along with another group. One thing that you need to remember with kegs rolling about - the walking tour requires that you wear closed flat shoes, no thongs, no sandals, because of occupational Health and Safety.
