My dogs have never looked better!! I was a little hesitant to try and new grooming place but Mieko was fantastic! She truly listened to what we wanted and she did not disappoint. That Dapper Pet is the most unprofessional business. I have given them more than ample chances to show me they are professional and still, they continue to validate their rudeness, unprofessional style of conducting business. Every time I have dropped my maltese off, I have had to wait in the deserted lobby for more than 10 minutes. When asking for assistance, "Hello, Good morning" no one comes. One occasion, the backroom was full of "f-bombs" and I still continued to wait. There are many groomers in Bloomington that could provide great service with a professionalism. Just think, if this is how they treat humans, what do you think they are doing to your dog! read more

I took my 3 year old jackrussel/dauschund in for a nail trim and file on November 4th. The store was small and quaint I did have a good conversation with the owner who was very friendly. Lexi was taken to the backroom for her nails while I browsed the store. Selection was limited but being a fairly new store still and Bloomington market not exactly like Chicago I think it was a good fit. I paid my ticket before she was done. Nail trim plus file. No extras. I was charged $20 plus I gave a $5 tip. After I paid she was brought back out I felt her nails they were still rough around her front edges and they were barely trimmed. I had my 5 year old son with me and then owner and employee both seemed very rushed so we left. After reviewing the trifold which goes over various grooming options offered I noticed the nail trim was supposed to have been priced at $10 and the file is an additional $5. Equaling $15. Not only was my service unsatisfactory but I was overcharged. I am very disappointed I specifically avoided a large box store and was hoping a locally owned boutique would have taken better attention to detail. All together the front of the shop was clean and organized. I did not see the grooming room so I can't speak on their cleanliness. Needless to say we are still looking for a local person for her nails. In the meantime we will continue to go to Chicago for all her bathing, hair color, and grooming needs. read more

This place isn't and will never be again what it was when Meiko was here. I have followed that groomer from the business she groomed at before and upon starting here I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the owner Amy. She is rude, unprofessional and unapologetic when issues are being addressed. We gave the business one chance after Meiko left to prove themselves without Meiko and they botched it horribly. For starters the owner Amy sent out a text message following Meiko's leaving to both me and my girlfriend as we both take our dogs here(3 dogs)stating that Meiko would no longer be grooming at Dapper. It seemed like a sort of mass text message and it wasn't phrased as a question so as to lead on that she expected a reply. We however got to our scheduled grooming day and she had removed my girlfriends dog from the schedule without warning even though we have reoccurring automatic appointments every 6 weeks. It should also be noted that on that particular day they were late to open which resulted in us being late to work. Then followed 3 phone calls because somehow our dog was "too matted" to cut the desired length. This has never happened before so I suspect the inability to cut the dog how it was so skillfully done by Meiko was no longer available. In short they buzz cut the dog and for some reason failed to trim the ear hair. Then we went to pick the dog up, normal operating procedure before is they would bring the dog out, some pleasant chit chat, we would look at the cut to inspect the job done, upon after which we would pay and appropriate a tip to the groomer. This wasn't how it went down this day. They were insistent upon payment and even asked if we wanted to leave a tip before we could inspect our dog, I suspect in fear of us not leaving a tip or us disputing payment for a job poorly done. Upon further inspection of the other dogs they have been grooming like our dog this is pretty much the only style of grooming I have seen...ear hair and all almost identicle. Following this we decided that we would no longer have our pets groomed at Dapper and we would wait until Meiko opens her new shop. So I made the phone call to Dapper to cancel my other dogs appointment, but go figure, he had also been removed from the schedule without warning. I can no longer recommend this establishment to anyone and have informed everyone I know who does business with them of my experience. read more

This is a fine business. Friendly and professional staff. They welcome my dog and treat her like royalty. The staff is always kind and courteous when I come in for Rugby's spa day or to purchase dog food. They carry high quality dog food and treats, as well as collars and other doggie apparel. I did intensive research prior to bringing my dog in for grooming, as I did not want her kenneled or treated like a chore. I wanted her to be in a friendly and loving environment, and after several frustrating phone calls with other doggy spas I called my vet. My vet gave Dapper Pet a glowing recommendation. I confirmed for myself and was pleasantly surprised and quite relieved. My Rugby has a dedicated groomer who is A+ in my book. The owner is fantastic, and the office manager is as knowledgeable and dedicated as they come. If you're having your dog groomed, it should be at Dapper Pet! read more

These guys are the most awesome groomers I have EVER had the pleasure of meeting. I just moved to Bloomington from Columbia, MO. I was used to taking my 2 Shih-tzu to my groomer in Columbia and having them come back with those annoying bandanas that looked like someone just cut a length of cloth haphazardly. If I wanted bows or anything put in my little girl's hair I had to pay extra. So, color me shocked when I picked up my babies and not only did my little girl have two beautiful bows in her hair, but my little boy had a dapper little bow tie around his neck. They did a beautiful job. I know it had to be rough going for them too, as it had been over 6 months since they had been to a groomer and I had been sick the past few months so I was not able to brush them out as I had liked before grooming. Thus, they were a little matted. But they did a glorious job of cleaning them up very nice and I intend on making MANY more appointments in the future. They even shaved down my little ragdoll cat and she looked gorgeous (and the fact that the groomer still had their hands intact tells me they know how to handle cats as well as dogs). She had never been shaved down before, so I was unsure of how she would deal with it, especially seeing as how she is terrified of new people AND loud sounds. I thought the mixture of those two things all at one time would send her back to me a complete basket case, but she was perfectly content when I picked her up. I would recommend this groomer to anyone. I don't know how the costs equal out amongst other groomers since this is the first one I have used here in Bloomington. I know it is more expensive than the one I used in Columbia, MO, but EVERYTHING here in Bloomington costs more than it did in Missouri. But it was only a few dollars more expensive and that, to me, means they are pretty reasonably priced. Especially when you consider that they do WAY more than my groomer in Missouri did. Also, about a week after I got my babies home the bows in my little girl's hair came out. I tried putting it back in but only ended up breaking the band. I called the groomer and asked her if they could put them back in for me. For only $4 they got me new bows and showed me how they put them in. I now have them ordering the tool for me that they use to put them in. It is a tool I have been looking for all over the place. I can also use it to pluck their ear hair in between grooming visits. These guys are wonderful and I cannot thank them enough for being so awesome with my babies. read more
