On 2/10/17 I called Eureka Veterinarian clinic in Eureka, Il. Kris/Chris, answered the phone. I…read moregreeted her, told her my first and last name and explained that my cat was diagnosed with Ideopathic Chylothorax by the U of I, but I was looking for a closer vet near me and seen they were the closest to my house. I asked if they do chest taps, She said "no" & to go to the U of I. I then asked if they at least would be able to euthanize my cat to help end her suffering since she had been going through this disease since December of 2016. Kris/Chris, told me they only do that for their clients. I asked her how much it was. Kris/Chris told me I have to call back on Monday 2/13/2017 because doctor Miller was "busy". I knew something was obviously wrong & knew right away by how she was talking to me on the phone that she was blowing me off but I dismissed it as her possibly having one of her "ladies days" as to give her the benefit of the doubt & told her I would call back on Monday, 2/13/17 and hung up. On 2/13/17, I called Eureka Veterinarian Clinic back. Kris/Chris answered the phone & I politely said hello and gave my Name to her once again again, then told her I was calling back as she said to do on Friday 2/10/17 to find out what it would cost to have my cat euthanized and could I come in. Kris/Chris said "we only do that for our clients". I asked "what can I do to become a client?" There was a long silence... I then said "hello? Are you there?" She replied with a curt but rude "yes". Then said to me in a very rude tone "you just don't understand". I explained to Kris/Chris that I feel like she is blowing me off and I have no idea why. I asked her " have I said something to personally offend you?" There was silence, she didn't answer. I told her "I was only trying to find a local vet that was close to me and you all are the closest to my house". I then said "I am willing to pay for the service and I have other animals that I would not mind putting under your care in the future if I could become a client. I simply just want to have the convenience of going to a vet that is close to me." She then told me in a mean voice, "we can't help you", then said "I'm going to have to terminate this call". I literally could not believe it!! I am begging a vet to help my animal that's suffering, literally begging!, I simply wanted to do the humane thing to end my cats suffering and here I am being turned away and for no reason! I know beyond a shadow of a doubt I was discriminated against and cannot understand for the life of me, why. Kris/Chris refused to answer me when I would ask her why she was refusing to help me. How they can refuse to help humanely end the suffering of an animal that is sick when I am willing to pay is beyond ignorant. This just showed me that the Veterinarians oath means absolutely nothing to these people! So if anyone out there ever encounters veterinarians that are rude, unprofessional and discriminating, just file a complaint on www.idfpr.com and let everyone know that people like this don't belong in this profession if they could care less about an animal suffering.

We have been long time customers and have come of age with and always respected Dr. Kathy - she…read moreknows her stuff and our pets pretty well. Lately though, as she wrestles with the inevitable slow down and eventual retirement, there seems to be a revolving door of alternate veterinarians, vet assistants and front desk people. We understood the challenges presented by the pandemic in particular, but sometimes it almost feels like a bit of a sterile new business with lots of strangers and lately we've ended up scheduling out a lot further than we'd prefer, just to make sure Dr. Kathy is there. Like everything else, the costs seem to have gone up too. What we don't understand is how difficult it seems to be to find a second vet that is willing to help stabilize and grow the business. The location - doors down from corporate SF is pretty convenient for the plethora of pets on the east side, plus the building was remodeled a few years ago and seems more than adequate. Give this place a chance and hopefully a couple quality hires come about sooner than later.

The first way we were thankful was in meeting Dr. Whittington. She came in the room and was open, friendly and obviously concerned about our pet. She was a pleasure to meet and she was very direct with her diagnosis and made sure that we understood everything she explained. The second way we were thankful was that our dog did not have a serious injury but Dr. Whittington discovered that our dog had a serious rash on her tummy (from running through the weeds). Dr. Whittington prescribed an antibiotic for allergies which two days later has been extremely helpful. Our pet has not scratched or licked again. The third way in which we were thankful was after mentioning that our dog was on Hydrolized dog food which we order by prescription. we were able to purchase a case of dog food from Tender Care which was very helpful to us. In closing, Dr. Whittington was gracious, friendly and very professional. She loves taking care of animals and we are convinced that she is the vet for our pet. Christine A.

We have boarded our dog several times at Associated Veterinary Clinic and have been very happy with her care. She comes home healthy and happy. My 11 month old dog was in an emergency facility throughout the weekend, where she tested positive for Parvo. When the emergency hospital closed on Monday morning, we needed to transfer her to another daytime facility. Our normal vet was unable to take her, because their parvo unit was full. We called multiple vets, and no one would take her. AVC was willing, and saw her within 20 minutes. Within an hour we had a treatment plan, and our girl was admitted. When we arrived, we were greeted immediately with a private room to keep her isolated, and the staff was SO kind. Our sweet pup made a miraculous recovery, and was released within a day and a half. We thought we were going to lose our girl, and AVC helped save her life. Thank you all so much for your kindness, compassion, and attention to our pup. We will be forever grateful.
