This hospital and staff are incredible! No canned "mission statements", no scripted patter, no ads on a loop if they briefly put you on hold, just old-fashioned good veterinarian care. The place is spotless and attractive and set up to be calming and safe for your pets. They're not cheap (none of them are) but worth every penny.

They also aren't anything like a cat or dog in most ways. One thing about parrots is that they are animals of prey and their bodies can literally show very little to no sign of illness until they're next to dead. In the wild, that gets them killed. That makes it essential to have dependable, quality aviary services. My bird is currently 28 and has his whole life ahead of him with proper nutrition and care. Lou has been part of our family since he hatched and I love him dearly. In fact, the entire neighborhood loves Lou. Anytime it's nice enough, I push his cage onto the front porch. He talks to the neighbors and he barks with the neighborhood dogs. My roommate drives a special van for work that makes a beeping noise when it's in reverse and has brought it home for lunch a few times. Now, if Lou is out on the front porch and he sees a neighbor back out of their driveway, he makes the same noise garbage trucks make. This is obviously a special bird that I can't entrust to just anyone. Lou has received extraordinary care in the past and I know what that looks like. Sadly, I am so disappointed and dissatisfied with the services I received at All Pets that I am now going to be taking him to Champaign for his future needs. I am willing to do what I have to to get my bird the best care. The first time I brought my bird in for a checkup, I feel the doctor performed a bunch of unnecessary tests that had just been done by his previous vet. When you bring your pet in, especially an exotic pet, you are entrusting your pet's care to that vet. Whatever that vet says my pet needed, I gave him. My daughter also has two birds. One was ill. We took her in. The same veterinarian prescribed an antibiotic that went in the bird's water. Before we got the antibiotic, I asked the veterinarian about the antibiotic he was prescribing and if it was another one more commonly prescribed to birds. He told me he was giving us this antibiotic that went in the water instead and that it was cheaper than the antibiotic I asked about. Not two days later, All Pets called my daughter to tell her that she needed to come and pick up another antibiotic for her bird. And, guess what? It turns out it's the antibiotic I had asked the vet about. I go pick the medication up for my daughter and it isn't cheaper than the first medication. The prices are actually very close but the second drug was cheaper. Truthfully, we didn't care about the cost of the antibiotic but we wanted the BEST one for the bird. I bring the new antibiotic to my daughter and see that All Pets gave her a minuscule amount of liquid antibiotics in a test tube. It was such a ridiculous amount that I would've gone back if they were still open. I'm guessing they measured out the exact amount a cockatiel would need without accounting for any possible waste or the fact that it was less than a thimbleful of liquid and dried out with air. My daughter gave the bird the medication until it dried out. The bird got sick again and had to do an entire second course of antibiotics. I understand All Pets is a business and that they need to make a profit. When they cut corners like that to do it, the patient suffers. I don't care where I have to drive, I am taking my pets to a vet that puts the animal care first. That was just not my experience here.
