Thames RIB Experience - Is truly the ultimate Experience!! Thames RIB Experience has certainly taken the RIB speed boat business into a different league. These boats are far superior to any RIB boat that I have ever been on. As there was a review on the Time out web site, I thought I would try it out. I traveled on their Thames Barrier Experience as it was the longer experience. Me and my family set off from Embankment pier, where we were welcomed by friendly and helpful staff. Life jackets were provided before we boarded. Once we had jumped on board the fastest and newest boats on the Thames. On the RIB voyage we were looking at all the famous sights of London and taking in all of the interesting facts. And a few jokes here and there, from there hilarious guide that is onboard the boat. We also had a blast of the James Bond themed music, which would make any one feel like a true Bond girl. Once at Tower bridge the voice entered thee PA system sit back in your seats, and place on hand on the grab railBefore I knew it I was traveling along the Thames high speed weaving and turning across the river, flying past all of the standard boat cruises and trips. On this speed boat trip we then, entered the Thames Barrier the second largest flood barrier in the world. It is truly amazing how it can help prevent London from flooding, and the size of it is unreal. Once heading back we had another dose of high speed turbo engines. I would recommend this to every one, London RIB speedboat,as it is truly something different and the best power boat in London, as you get to see more of the city in such a short space of time. Some may say that getting on a speedboat while hung over is stupid, or at least chancy I do however have something amazing to report- the Thames RIB experience will cure a hangover faster than anything! I cannot recommend this tour enough. Forget the yawn of the bus, or the toddle of the ferry- this was a full speed ahead, hair whipping, eye watering, squealing type venture. The lovely speedboat crew gave us heavy duty jackets for the cold and life jackets that were funky (not a single giant yellow affair in sight). We had a slightly different tour to normal, it was an amalgamation of what is on offer from the company, including elements of the Canary Wharf Experience, the Greenwich, O2 & Thames Barrier Experience and the 'Bond' Theme Experience. The staff were quirky and fun, the information about the city was interesting, relevant and enlightening, without being excessive, and just when I began to think of relaxing we hit the anti speed limit barrier and flew out along the Thames. Breakneck speeds and some very clever manoeuvring by our driver and then we were admiring the Thames barrier in all it's metallic glory. Did I mention the James Bond theme music as we whipped past the O2 centre? What about the views of the city? The RIB Experience had a sticker on the board asking users to give there opinion on QYPE so here it is. Having two nights in London on a family vacation we spent some time deciding what to do. After reading the great reviews we booked the RIB Experience. Booked online and received an email confirming the 19:00 time and requesting we be 15 minutes early. We arrived at 18:30 and explained we were there for the next tour. The tour operator asked if we could sit and wait while he sold photos of the trip to the previous booking. We waited until the last photo was sold (about 20 minutes) to be told that the 19:00 tour was canceled. The operator explained that they don't make enough money to operate the boat with only 4 passengers. If I knew the policy I would have booked an earlier boat that had more people on it. The web site and confirmation email made me think we had booked a trip. Kind of a heartless business practice. If you get an email confirming your voyage it is best to call to make sure you have a full boat! That left us standing on the Embankment Pier at 19:00 with our plans for our evening in London shot. Not a nice way to finish a vacation with a 12 and 14 year old boys who were walking through the museums all day with an expectation of a boat ride in the evening. read more

This is a fantastic way to see London and the Thames Barrier (the extra money for the extra time to go down that far is well worth it) in a way you have not seen it before. I did a normal cruise down to Greenwich and back recently and, although better for taking photos, this was SO much better as an Experience and my friend's photos were not bad at all.. It was a very cold but dry day and we were well kitted out with jacket/hoods and over trousers, though I would recommend wearing thermal longjohns and decent gloves to be really cosy. Loved the James Bond bit and enjoyed the fun and informative commentary. Well managed and good safety drill. Suitable for all ages. Thrills an no spills and a lot of laughs with coffee bars nearby to fall into afterwards if the weather is cold! There was a bit of problem with the individual photos taken by the crew member which couldn't be transferred to the computer because of a missing lead but we were all rewarded with a free copy (normally £10) of a photo of us all in the boat so we were not complaining at all! read more

The Thames RIB was one of the best things I did during my time in London!! The commentator on the boat gave us detailed info on the history of London, highlighting iconic buildings and famous landmarks. It was a cold, but sunny morning, so perfect weather for the activity. The boat began slow and relaxed, allowing us to soak in the views around The Thames. After 10 minutes or so the speed started to increase which made the ride really exciting! The driver made sharp turns, tilting the speed boat to each side, adding an element of fear into the ride. I have been on a couple of boat rides in various cities, but this was by far the best. The staff were attentive, cheerful and knowledgeable, which made The Thames Rib a great experience. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to do a boat trip in London! Just be careful you don't fall out, the water is cold at this time of the year!!! read more

I booked this trip as part of my husband's 50th birthday weekend-it was the last thing we did and it was SO worth waiting for! We took our 11 yr old son with us and his face was a picture! We were provided with warm coats and comfortable life jackets. There should be 12 on the boat but there was only 3 of us on it so we had the personal touch but still really professional-the guide was excellent-he knew his stuff but told us about buildings along the riverside we wouldn't have even noticed-not just the obvious ones and he was really funny as well! The best part though was when the skipper opened her up and we tore down the Thames at 65 miles an hour-sharp turns with your heart in your mouth but so exhilerating-I would recommend this to anyone-all 3 of us said it was the best part of the weekend and we did a lot! It was little above zero degrees. It was windy. One of our group even turned up witha chest infection. None of this detracted from the experience that is not to be missed! We were bought the ride as a gift and booked a group of 6. The staff on the pier were helpful, the safety brief wasn't tedious and we set off on time. A group turned up ten minutes late and they even went back to pier to pick them up. Adding possible 2 minutes to out day but ensuring that good customer service was upheld. The brief tour up the Thames was very informative and very fun. The guides had good knowledge of the history of the buildings and London. And then they opened the throttle.. If you want to know how much fun was you'll have to book you will not be disappointed!! read more

From beginning to end, we were thoroughly impressed by Thames Rib Experience. As a client event we booked one Rib taking 12, a mixture of staff and clients so Health and Safety a priority, no need to worry it was all catered for with Insurance documents and waterproofs provided if necessary!! We booked the James Bond experience and had the music playing and a quiz to test our knowledge with a cocktail shaker as a prize! Down to the O2 arena at high speeds when allowed, it certainly was a thrilling ride! Our clients loved it and so did we, thanks to all of the team for their hard work and to the pilots who certainly know their stuff. This was a company team outing. It was quite cold and raining. Wasn't overly keen!!!! What a bloody marvellous time we had. The 1hr 20min trip consisted of an interesting sight seeing tour along the river. Expert and humourous commentary as we meandered down the river was interspersed in just the right measure with exhiliarating blasts of speed through the wake on the river. We were a party of UK, Czech, German and US nationals and the team looked after us really. The witty commentary had everyone in fits of laughter. Totally brilliant!!! I can't believe we come to London so often and have never done this trip. I can only think it must have been the cost that has put us off in the past but we were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday and I can honestly say it was worth every penny! Well organised, great staff and a great way to see the sights with a short, very witty commentary. Amazing experience speeding down the Thames, tilting from side to side to James Bond music. What a fantastic experience!!! Friendly staff. We were welcomed at the pier by a very helpful and friendly young lady who set us up with coats and lifejackets. We we boarded the boat to start the "Experience". The trip was just fantastic. We had a birthday in our party, we had a sing along to Happy bithday music at high power speeds. The commentary was very informative. But the Speed and turns of the boat were obviously the highlights. I can honestly say the trip ended too soon. What a fantastic experience. read more

First, if I could give a lower rating I would. We were in London for only a few days. We decided to take the Thames RIB Experience. We booked this experience on line and was given a confirmation number. The next day we showed up on time, they did not even show. We waited and waited and finally called the number on the broshure to complain. Thye answered the phone and said that the boat had been cancelled. Nothing more other then poor customer service. The best thing to do in London full stop! from the friendly team behind the scenes to the lads on the boat. They had us in stitches! The James Bond theme music as we were flying past the 02 must be the best moment ive ever had in london! We have been on the 20 minute Experience twice now with different people and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun boat ride with a bit of excitement! The children loved it! The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we realised that my son left his mobile phone on the boat and we were no longer at Tower Hill but the Embankment. They had closed for the day and kindly met us at Embankment Pier to hand it over! read more

We had booked the experience for my son's 10th birthday and have to say it was an amazing experience. The trip was fantastic and exciting and also took in some amazing sights, such Big Ben, London Eye and Canary Wharf. The tour guide Michael was excellent and really made the trip with his quirky facts and info on key landmarks along the Thames. I would say it is a must if you are visiting London and looking for something a little different. read more

Awesome!!!! we had an absolutely brilliant time from the moment we met the experience team at the pier until we staggered gingerly off the boat at the end of the trip. We show up to find out that the boat ride was canceled, we ask why, the guy selling tickets rudely tells us that our family of four wasn't worth the trip. Not enough people had booked for the 7:30 ride. So they refused to take us. If you go you risk cancellations, so I wouldn't plan your day around it. Very unreliable. read more
