Great way to see all the historic sites around the Thames without getting blisters. No wait, speedy service on a weekday afternoon. I went from Canary Wharf to Battersea, and sat on the uncrowded back of the boat which provides an unobstructed view of the sights as you pass. That day, the Thames was so full of water that my boat was prohibited from going under Victoria Bridge, but despite this hiccup, I was on my way forward on an uncrowded smaller boat within 15 minutes of the premature docking. read more

We were in London in August. There were lots of tourists and we had the experience of long waits for boats, which when they finally did arrive, couldn't take anymore passengers. Obviously, that's not why I'm giving this experience 5 stars. Read on... While in London, my husband wound up being hospitalized. We had already extended our trip due to his hospitalization, but when he was released, we wanted to have a nice last day before we flew home to California. The only caveat was that last day needed to be very low energy and require minimal physical exertion. The Uber boat was perfect. We stopped into a market near our flat and picked up some picnic supplies and headed to the Uber boat dock at Battersea. We bought an all-day ticket and hopped on, where we easily scored an inside seat/table with a big picture window and air conditioning. We spent the day riding the Uber boat up and down the Thames, while picnicking and cleaning out work emails that had piled up on our trip. We both have really special memories of that quiet day we spent on a boat on the Thames, working, picnicking, and enjoying each other's company. Update: We made it home to California. It's now 2 months later and hubby has fully recovered from the surgery he had upon our return. We are both back to hiking canyons and taking long walks with our puppy. read more

We took the clipper /Uber boat from Bankside to the Westminster pier after checking out St. Paul's and the Millennium bridge. It was a beautiful day which may have contributed to the long wait to get on. We purchased our tickets at the vending machine at the pier and apparently the person at the ticket machine needed to see us actually buy it. Strange. We didn't know that but I guess the ticket person took us at our word. The wait was much longer than anticipated because 2 boats came by without anyone boarding because the boats were full. Waited at least 45 minutes and no place to sit while in line. Once we finally boarded (3rd boat) the ride was pleasant- at least we could say we were on the Thames. The boat left the pier 3 minutes early, while me and my friend were running to catch it. The crew looked straight at us with a dead look in their eyes while the boat sailed away. This was utterly unacceptable for a transportation service that's supposed to run on a schedule. read more

Greenwich Pier. Uber selling tickets to lines of tourists for seats on boats that don't exist unless you are prepared to wait hours in queue. Ticket inspector will tell you you can apply for a refund by contacting Uber boats to get you away from the people wasting their time waiting for non-existent boats. Uber boats won't get you a refund but will offer a pointless chance to queue again in the next 3 months for a trip you no longer want or need. SCAM. read more

1 Star is already too much. Absolutely terrible service. Yesterday, four of us wanted to take the Uber Boat from the London Eye to Tower Pier. The employee warned us that we might not be picked up because the boat was full. This was fine with us and we waited anyway. When the boat arrived, they told us we could swipe our debit/Oyster cards. We did this, assuming there was enough space on the boat and that we would be picked up. The boat then left without us because it was full. When we asked if we could get off or if money had already been debited, the employee first said that no money had been debited. A few moments later, she said that we would have to pay the maximum amount if we didn't tap out, i.e. we would have to stay. We waited another 15 minutes. When we got off at Tower Pier, we all tapped out. One of us with an Oyster Visitor card was charged the maximum amount twice. It seems the payment system thought he hadn't tapped out, and the tapped out was billed as a new trip. Additionally, everyone else who paid with a debit card was charged a different amount. We all now have the problem of getting our money back, because we were all overcharged. All because the employee didn't do her job properly. Thank you for nothing and never again uber boats. read more

Immense waits, poor loading, and no warning ahead of time. It's part of the London/City Pass, so beware. Huge waste of time, and no way to get off the pier once you change your mind after stading around for an hour or more. read more

It ain't just the Tube, London Taxis, and red double-decker buses to get you around anymore. For the last 20 years, locals and tourists alike can cruise one of the world's most renown rivers (the Thames, of course), get from place to place, and see some of London's great marvels from an entirely new perspective. IT would be smart to plan out where you want to go on your next trip to London .... look for those places that are right next to the river ... you are likely to save time getting to those places taking the Clipper. The clipper drops off right next to the London Eye and Westminster, so it doesn't have to be obscure and/or out of the way to be a Clipper stop. And they've got 22 stations up and down the Thames! For example, we recently took the Clipper back and forth from Westminster ... to Greenwich. Greenwich is a great place, a must see, but it's about a mile from the nearest Tube station ... so we took the Clipper. Not only did we save boatloads of time (joke intended) taking the clipper. Both the Maritime Museum/Prime Meridian are right on the water. And then you cruise in to a great view of the Cutty Sark, hailed the last surviving British Tea Clipper. Just aesthetically speaking, the Clippers are great. Glass walls and ceilings, allowing for some great views to the sides and above. There's not many cooler experiences than going underneath London's famed bridges. I do wish they would clean their windows more, as to avoid drip-spots and other annoyances that crud up my photos. In the end, I highly recommend the Thames Clipper. All ashore who's going ashore! read more

Even 1 star is Far too.many!! Purchased a child's ticket £6.70.from Greenwich to Battersea with assistance from lady I'm Ticket Booth. Despite proclaiming we could purchase and then go down to boat that was arriving, we were then 30 seconds later denied boarding as apparently boat was full. BAD Communication between staff. Lady on gateline flatly refused entry citing boat full and whilst we queried this with lady who sold us ticket then proclaimed next 2 boats full. & 1 hour plus wait, ( it's Easter Holidays, Tourists in London, why not extra boats,!! What a fantastic new Timetable NOT) lady who sold us ticket unable to refund (even though 1 hour wait.and then 1 hour journey, would have caused us to miss other engagements) Lied to us saying Uberboats.com would refund!! This was a very welcome addition to our hop-on-hop-off tour package! We discovered at the time of purchase of our bus tour that if we went with certain higher levels (which actually worked out to be cheaper than extra tube or bus fare) you actually got rides in the River boats for free. On our whirlwind trip across London in a day, we managed to move from West to East London fairly quickly on our tour bus, taking in all the sites and attractions in no time at all. When we got to the far end of the route, we got out and explored spots like the Tower of London, London Eye and puttered around the Tower Bridge. Once we'd had our fill of site seeing a quick look a the map told us that to take the bus back would be close to and hour but if we used our boat pass we could do it in a fraction of the time! So we did it! What a great choice! Smooth, well organized and FAST! Across the Thames in no time. Best of all, as a tourist it gives you a whole different vantage point of the city and makes for some great pictures. Definitely worth it if you're only visiting for a short time! read more

Visited on 3/29/15: We spoke to the individuals at the Clipper window, and with my Travelcard I had to pay 8 pounds 40 pence to get a round trip ticket, because I had a discount with my Travelcard. My friend had her Oyster Card, and paid over 11 pounds was taken off for her round trip ticket. We didn't have to wait long, before the clipper arrived. Inside it was nice and warm; there was a refreshment area to purchase snacks and drinks, clean seating, and plenty of windows for viewing the sites along the river. We were able to take pictures through the windows and in the back of the ship on the deck. read more

After taking a million and one pictures of glorious Big Ben & the Houses of Parliament, we took a stroll to the Waterloo Pier/London Eye & from there hopped aboard the Clipper to Greenwich. We presented our Oyster cards for a discount; the one-way fare for two was roughly £10. Much appreciated was the enclosed waiting area; walking in 35 degree weather was bearable, but felt markedly cold when standing in one place. The journey was a comfortable 30 minutes aboard a glass boat complete with bathroom & a bar with drinks & snacks (we shared a bottled raspberry lemonade, £2.20.) Plenty of seating, though a few were covered in crumbs from the last person nomming on pastries! Sure, we could've journeyed to Greenwich on the tube, but sailing on the notable River Thames & passing iconic London sites from a different vantage point is a whole 'nother kind of lovely. read more

Cool way to get around the Thames River. With my hop on hop off package it included one point ride for us. We took it from The Tower of London to The Houses of Parliament. It was a nice, smooth, and quick ride and it was clean with plenty of notice for our stop. read more

The cheaper alternative to the Thames cruises is to take the commuter ferry (if you use your Oyster card you get £2 off the sailing which takes it to £6.50) and the views are stunning. We started at Tate Modern and sailed up to Greenwich which took about 35 minutes. Try to get a window seat as then you can see everything from Tower Bridge to Canary Wharf. There was a section at the back where I think you could stand outside but we didn't explore and they also serve tea, coffee and light refreshments. You can go all the way to the Thames Barrier which might be on my list for my next trip to London. read more

I secretly wish I had a job in an office close enough to the river so I could justify commuting by boat. The Thames Clipper is THE ONLY form of public transport in London that is even remotely enjoyable. Unlike its terrestrial counterparts, clipper boats are quite roomy, clean, and even come with a Costa Coffee. It's also not crowded. Even during the morning and evening commuting hours, the 'crowds' pale in comparison to the Tube. A lot of people use the Thames Clipper to commute. The daily route goes all the way from Putney to Greenwich, with major stops at Embankment, the London Eye, Blackfriars, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, and Canary Wharf. With its large glass windows, sightseeing is half the fun on board a Thames Clipper. In fact, I always recommend taking the trip from the London Eye to Greenwich to my friends visiting from abroad. My favourite bit is when the boat goes under Tower Bridge. The only real downside is that it's not the cheapest form of transport. A one-way ride from one end of the route to the other will set you back upwards of 6 GBP. That's not bad if you're a tourist, but it's not great if you're commuting every day. read more

I heart the uniqueness of Thames Clippers. They'll only take you from East to West or vice versa. They're London's only transport method that can boast a Costa cafe for passenger use, plenty of seats and space to wander. You won't see the views they offer from another form of public transport, and cyclists are welcome at all times. They're impressively slick too when it comes to taking on and allowing off passengers - there's no traffic or overcramming of passengers to impede progress. The main drawback is cost. £6.12 for a one way, Oyster-discounted doesn't compare well with a £2.80 one way on the Tube, or a £1.45 one way on the bus. The other drawback is journey time. Their speed, and turnaround time is impressive, but still, the best they can manage between North Greenwich and Embankment is 51 minutes. Even with Embankment station currently out of action, the Jubilee, Bakerloo and your feet will get you there in 26 minutes. Plus, obviously, they're somewhat less frequent than the Tube, ranging from 1-3 times an hour. Still, in certain situations they excel. Twice now my girlfriend and I have hitched rides back from Greenwich after having cycled there from west London. It's hard to imagine a more civilised way of getting from Woolwich to Putney. The luxury and facilities onboard make a refreshing change to the rather hardier experience of the Tube or bus. The Thames is London's oldest thoroughfare. The Thames Clippers are a great way of making use of it. read more

What better way to go to work than by boat! The Thames Clipper service is my choice of commute to work, just a short relaxing glide each morning. Much pleasanter than being crammed in with grumpy, unfriendly city suits on the Tube! The cost isn't cheap, but if you're a regular commuter, like me, the season tickets work out very cost effective. Outside of commuting it's a wonderful way to see London. If ever you have friends or family visiting, or you just want to treat yourself to an enjoyable journey into central London then take the Clipper. In terms of sightseeing, it works out half the price of a trip on one of the pleasure boats. There's seating indoors and outdoors, although the outdoor area is more popular in Summer. In fact, the Clipper service is much more popular in Summer, in general, with tourists and families, etc... So be warned! Weekends can be busy too. Oh! And there's a bar! Serving tea, coffee, snacks and, of course, alchohol! Give it a try and glide through London, you won't regret it! read more

I was ambivalent about taking the tube to Central London from Greenwich. I am certainly not an expert on the tube, I mean, what if I got off on the wrong stop? And taking a bus was out of the question (I didn't have a Travel or Oyster card). The hotel I stayed at suggested that my mother and I take a boat ride to the London Eye Pier from the Greenwich Pier and that is exactly what we did. The boat was clean and if I am not mistaken you can take your pets! If they are well behaved. It was a lovely ride. Who doesn't want to go over Tower Bridge by boat? It's magical. The views were amazing. You can buy a ticket on board but if the kiosk is open, it needs to be purchased there. I had two ticket options: One was to go directly to the pier of my choice and the other was to get a hop on, hop off on any pier of your choosing for a bit more. I chose the former. I don't remember exactly how much I paid for two tickets (Outbound and Return) but the pricing certainly didn't seem outrageous. Probably the most convenient way to get to the O2, greenwich or Canary Wharf and avoid the tube. the boat takes the same amount of time anyway and is a great way to see London. I usually get motion sickness but the catamaran ride is so smooth that I didn't have a problem. This is also a great way to see the sights. The ticketing system is pretty much non existent. If you are in a group it is probably better to try and get a discount and buy your tickets online and print them out, otherwise just buy them on board. A return is the same prices as travel for the whole day, so you might as well get the river roamer pass. They are mostly a commuter service so there is not that much space outside and loads of seats inside (you can still see a lot out of the windows); and all the seating is comfortable. I have never been on a packed service where there was no seating for everyone, so it is a pretty relaxing way to get around for groups/families. read more

I keep forgetting that this is quite a good means of transport. It is usually friends' visits which remind me. Mind you, the service is most useful for all the major tourist haunts, and I don't think any time can be saved if compared to the tube. Unfortunately, the service is not fully integrated into the TFL system and a pay-as-you-go Oyster card doesn't do any good (there are discounts for season ticket holders). The information available at the stops (in this case London Bridge/Tower) is very misleading and information on prices only available at the ticket office. The Thames Clipper is probably the best no-fuss transportation system along the Thames. I took it over the summer to go from Central London to Greenwich for some sightseeing, and it certainly was scenic! Believe me, the best view of the Tower Bridge is by going under it first! The price isn't cheap, but comparably, it is much cheaper than the other boats that go down/up the Thames (this one just doesn't have the commentary). If it's a nice day, don't bother sitting inside - try to grab a seat outdoors at the back of the boat. The clipper is really better than taking the tube, especially in the summer! read more

Great service for general travel or tourist alike at a great price. It never really entered my head to see London this way but I planned a day at Greenwich and this was a great way to get there. It's fast enough but not too fast not to see some sights along the way like Canary Wharf & Tower Bridge, the O2 etc. Took about 40 minutes from Embankment to Greenwich. Bear in mind for tourists it can get busy and tourism is not the main function of the clipper service so there may be better but more expensive alternatives as there is no commentary on touristic sites like on dedicated boats. Cost for a single anywhere was £4 but I bought the day ticket which at £8 entitles you to go up and down the river all day and back again should you wish. You can either sit in comfort in the covered enclosed body of the clipper or feel the thames all over your face by standing up outside. read more

This is such a great way to see London. I had lived in London for about 2 years before I gave this a go. I would definitely recommend buying a hop-on, hop-off pass (look out for deals with National Rail - Buy one get one free with rail travel) and I would recommend going all the way to Greenwich. The guides on the boat really make this a great experience with their little facts and annecdotes about the buildings which line the banks of the Thames- you'll learn more about the city than you would imagine. You can happily tie the boat trip in with a trip to the London Eye or the Tower of London as there are stop-off points at both of these attractions. read more

If you're handicapped, don't even bother. The boats say they are handicap accessible, but they really are not. The staff will yell at you for being in the way, but there is no designated space for those with special requirements. The sniveling little shit on the dock will not help you at all, he will just stare . The boats are supposed to be air conditioned but most are not. Time tables are constantly wrong and the boats are always late. Employees openly bash customers, past and still present on the ship, without fear of any repercussion. Probably the rudest staff I encountered in this country. 0/10 would not recommend even if you are able bodied. read more

Absolutely fantastic. I use this on my daily commute from London Bridge to Woolwich. Please compare with using any tube line during rush hour:- 1: You ALWAYS get a seat 2: You can sit out the back and let the wind blow off your tiredness/hangover on the way to work. 3: There is a Costa Coffee shop on board. 4: The above is also licensed, so if you have a bad day at work, you can have a G&T/beer on your way home. 5: The crew are polite. They acknowledge you as you board, they smile and they are polite. 6: It is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS on time, to the second. ....or I could take the Jubilee Line and the DLR and get none of the above. If you get a monthly season ticket the price is almost the same. A no brainer. Thames Clippers offer the best commute in the world, if you live and work near one of their piers. read more

This was a neat ride up and down the river. You could see the sights and get dropped off at a few more touristy places. The boat was clean, smooth and quick. There's a snack shop on board too if you desire something to eat. There were a lot of seats available as well. I have always had great service when using a Thames Clippers they are fast and can get me where i want quickly.I get this from Greenwich or sometimes the o2.You get a great view of London while travelling on the boat.It can busy at times to remember that.The ride is relaxing and comfortable.The service is generally good , i find it an enjoyable where to travel , save you having to drive everywhere.I take photo of buildings ,as its a good chance to do so as i would not normally see everything if i went by car.I have a pass and if you are going to use the boat more than once you should think about a day pass. read more

These are fine for one off visitors - in fact I would recommend them to anyone for a day pass to go up and down the Thames. They dont do a commentary but then who needs one down the Thames? The views are awsome and the cafe bar is very handy indeed. I would however caution to regular users and commuters as it is often unreliable (timetable) and the customer service is sometimes questionable. I used this service on a regular basis from Woolwich to Towere of London. Its fantastic - can't really fault it. Especially in the Summer. You always get a seat. Althought on one occasion it was absolutely packed going back to Woolwich from the Tower of London - it was the one occasion I thought I would not get a seat but I did eventually. In the mornings I would often get a tea or coffee and bacon rol and there were often free newspapers on board too. It was only 8 minutes to the O2 and from Woolwich to the Tower of London it was something like 35 minutes. What a great way to gtravel - highly recommmened. In fact I told LOADS of people how great it was and some of them too to using it to go to thre O2, Canary Wharf or Greenwich. by far the ebst option from the City. One one downside I have just thought of - when arriving at Woolwich, it can be a bit lonely if you have towards Woolwich town centre, as the bearest bus stop is maybe a good 10 mins walk. London Transport should look into having a bus that stops just where the boat pulls in or the Firepower Museum which is just near it. read more
