The best tour guide in London! My face still hurts from how much I was smiling and laughing;)

Adrenaline pumping while jumping waves! Check out the Speed experience, it leaves from Saint Katharine's pier. We took the tour from the Eye and it doesn't go quite as fast. Luckily we got the same guide on the faster ride! He's great and tell him Raina and Blake say hi:)

This was a birthday present from my parents and it was an inspired choice - I'd seen these fast ribs speeding up and down the Thames over the years, but had never taken a trip myself. So when I turned up on a gorgeous sunny afternoon on the last day in October, I had half an idea of what to expect. I've been on ribs before, but not on such a busy waterway as this. Just how fast could we go, with all the other vessels in their way? After arriving and checking in, we were soon sorted into separate groups for the two 1pm sailings. We'd been issued with lightweight life belts, which fitted easily over our jackets in a waistcoat style. Then we were beckoned on board into the 12 seater vessel. No seat belts was a slight surprise, but they really are not necessary. Nor are waterproofs - you might think you'll get splashes at speed, but it just doesn't happen. The ebullient Nick gave us the pre-flight briefing and introduced us to Tony who'd be steering us on our way up and down the river. A steady pace at first until we'd be beyond Tower Bridge, then the throttles would be opened. As we set off, we soon overtook the other cruise ships and it didn't take long before we reached Tower Bridge. Nick gave us a final briefing and let us know what to do if the pace was too much! At first, the increased speed was impressive, but not thrilling. But more was definitely to come! The pace suddenly went to another level, where it became slightly more necessary to grip onto the handles, particularly when tight turns were made from port to starboard! Pulses raced, little shrieks of excitement were heard up and down the boat, accompanied by an entertainingly apt rock soundtrack blasting out from the speakers. As we looked up and down the river close to Canary Wharf, the iconic buildings of central London suddenly seemed very far away, a trick of perspective and the bend of the river. Soon, it was time to turn back and zip towards the jetty at the London Eye, but as we approached Tower Bridge, it was time for a hugely informative and entertaining travelogue to be delivered by Nick - his stories and historical titbits were excellent, particularly the bridge-jumping bus. That was an unexpected bonus and I'd like to thank him for tolerating my occasional contributions too! All in all, this was an excellent experience from beginning to end. It's impossible not to disembark from this without a mile wide grin on your face and a heightened pulse (in a good way!) Top class entertainment and worth every penny.

Wow Eat Your Heart Out 007! For fun, thrills with no spills (well the odd little splash here and there) and you feel the need for speed then this adventure MUST be on your bucket list of things to do. In the evening from 8pm it truly was amazing as the sun is setting boarding right next to the London Eye, and after you don your safety jacket with a quick health & safety talk, your adventure starts. James was our audio guide and he pointed out the landmarks with the history behind them and interesting facts (he was very funny with he's wit and banter and without him I don't think the trip would have been so good). The boat has to go slow past most of the famous landmarks including Big Ben, HMS Belfast, The Shard and The Tower of London until you get past Tower Bridge due to speed restrictions and water laws, then once past Tower Bridge the boat roars into action with sharp turns left and right with music blasting out of the boats speakers and the first song played was the theme to Baywatch, it really felt you were rushing to save someone in the water and all that was missing was the eye popping sight of Pamela Anderson in that classic red swim suit, plus other water related and action themes were also played including the James Bond theme!. Seeing London from a different perspective and with London's night life kicking in this is a boat ride like no other. I truly recommend this if you are a James Bond fan or speed freak, It certainly scared 'The Living Daylights' out of me in places, and there certainly was 'A View To A Kill' that being London lit up at night. This has certainly got to be the best way in London to see the iconic famous landmarks, so forget the roads and don't sit in the London traffic, just speed on down to Thames Rockets for the thrill of a lifetime (as you Only Live Once, NOT Twice!).

Fun trip down the river. Good for quick speed thrills and a bit of history lesson. Dave was a great tour leader. Good weather helps though.

The morning of our booking I had a medical emergency (which we were able to verify to Skuna) so we called about six hours before our tour to ask if we could reschedule for another day. We understood this was incredibly short notice, so we didn't expect a refund or even a full credit. We asked if since the food would obviously not be prepared could we at least have a credit for the food portion if not the tour time. The answer was a fairly insensitive no, and were told the manager said they can't do anything with a same day cancel. Of course, we understood the uniqueness of the situation and had it not been due to a legitimate medical issue we never would have asked. However, the staff we spoke to didn't even show concern for the situation. We had to cancel drinks and bites at Bokan as well for after our tour and the staff there said no problem, they showed concern, and wished us well. Understanding that policies are in place we sent an email the next day. Eight days later we have only received an automated reply stating that our email was received. This is an experience we've wanted to have since moving to London three years ago, but sadly we just aren't interested in giving more money to a company that has this little care for their customers.

I was right. :) Now, we've been on boat trips all over the world - along the Yangtze River in China, the Mekong in Laos and Thailand, through the backwaters of Kerala, island hopping in the Philippines, wildlife watching in Kinabatangan, Borneo... all sorts. With that it mind, little old Finsbury Park Boating Lake around the corner might have been a let-down. But but but, we'd never been on Finsbury Park Boating Lake and my husband isn't from the UK, so we kinda were exploring a foreign land, which is always jolly good fun. I also find that you sometimes have the most fun when a place isn't perfect. And I rather liked the imperfections of this lake - particularly the scummy, pervasive green weeds (please see photies). And the orangutans, proboscis monkeys and exotic birds we'd seen on other boat trips were replaced with duckies, moor hens, swans and geese. Just as exciting, no? And here you're allowed to feed the birds, stirring them up into a frenzy. We had great fun leading the quack-quacks a merry dance around the lake with our bird-feed. And if you come on a Saturday 1200-1500, dressed as a pirate (aaaargh!), you get a reduced price of £5 for your boat hire. Nice. Also worth checking out Groupon - they sometimes have deals on. Other than that, the fella working on the lake was very friendly indeed. We likey. Thoroughly recommend a row-row-row-your-boat in Finsbury Park, as long as you don't care about a bit of scuzzy weed and rubbish. All part of the fun, I say!

I have never done a canal cruise, I mean I have seen the canal boats all long the London canals.. But driving a boat down.. Now that's something you don't do everyday.  Now, Go Boat is the only self drive electric power boating experience in London, this is a follow up on the success Go Boat had in Scandinavia.  The journey take place by Merchant Square nearest station I would say is Edgware road station. You can book various hours, however we think that a minimum of two hours are required.. We had two hours on our trip and you really don't know where they go.. I mean when they said time flies when you are having fun.. They didn't exaggerate!  Just in case you think that they let all these Londoners loose on the canals of London.. Don't worry.. We have all been briefed of all the tight squeeze and  things to avoid as well as a map to merry Bob along the canals towards Camden Town. Apparently this journey should take no more than 60 mins.. Well, let's just say we wanted to get to Camden but may not have made it in the two hours we had.  It's such a difference experience to see London from a different side.. Passing little Venice, along Regents Park, where you can spot a few zoo animals.. It just makes anyone so happy.  Our trip was also filled with lovely drinks provided by Fentimans I have always loved their delicious Ginger Beer, I didn't even know that they do alcoholic drinks.. The pre mixed Gin and tonic.. Was delicious.. Together with vegetable crips from Emily's Crisp it was a perfect Saturday afternoon.  I loved the experience and would definitely be recommending it to friends and family, looking to enjoy a different size of London. So we did it! The boats hold 8 people and with a table in the middle it's ideal for a picnic. But with 8 people and bags we found it a tad cramped with all the stuff (yes I know we should have brought less!). Luckily for us amateur pilots/drivers (what do you call the person steering?!) the boat is made from a sturdy plastic and has bouys attached to the outside to stop any boo-boos if you crash into the canal side! The one thing to note is you are not allowed to drink and drive for safety reasons. Go boat limit the amount of alcohol you can take on board to one can per person or a bottle of wine between 4. Despite our crashes/bumps we enjoyed piloting the boat around the canals. For 2 hours we didn't have quite enough time to get from Paddington to Camden and back - next time 3 hours would be better! I really enjoyed cruising in the sun and seeing the landmarks of Little Venice, Regents Park and Camden from the different perspective of the canal. We saw people doing this as birthday parties, hen dos and baby showers as well as 'just because it's Saturday!'
