My wife and I took the Royal London bike tour with Jamie and had a great time. It's an efficient way to cover many of the major sites in London (Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Royal Parks, etc.). Jamie is a true Londoner and did a great job mixing in historic facts with appropriately-corny jokes. The tour is about 4 hours long, and includes a 30 minute lunch break at Trafalgar Square, which is about enough time to grab a sandwich and coffee from one of the many Pret locations on the square, but not really enough time to eat at a sit-down restaurant. There is almost no on-street riding on the tour route, so it's a very easy ride, but still covers about 7 miles from start to finish. At the time of this review the Royal London tour is only £22 which is easily one of the best values in the entire city.

If someone were to ask, "Describe your absolute DREAM vacation?" I wouldn't hesitate to say, "Go BACK to Fat Tire and take *another* bike tour of London!" Is there any better feeling in the world than gliding on your bike with the sun gently kissing your skin and the wind running its fingers through your hair? YES! Having that same sensation under a brilliant London sky and rolling past the opulence of the Royal Gardens and other London landmarks. The tour is extremely informative with an engaging and fun tour guide! Your tour will include stops at Buckingham Palace, Kensignton Palace, the gilded monolithic Albert Memorial, the giant lions in Trafalgar Square that were the inspiration for Aslan, and many more! Fat Tire bikes are of excellent quality and I felt safe and secure the entire time even if I was heavily visually distracted by an overload of flora and gorgeous architecture! Fat Tire is also respectful of upholding the law. We were told walk our bikes in a certain Royal Park. While we were doing so in elderly British man came up to our group and said to our tour guide how he commended us for obeying the law, not many bicyclists do and he appreciated our compliance. The tour also gives you a fantastic bearing for the city if you want to return later on to further explore the dazzling sights! The Royal Gardens were the highlight for me and after the tour we ate Gelato under a shady tree in Kensignton Park. Life couldn't be more perfect. London is FUN and the best way is to see it by bicycle! The tour was certainly one of the best things I've done in England.

My husband and I actually did the Classic London Walking Tour with Fat Tire Bike Tours. To our surprise, we were the only ones taking the tour that day. Yay for a private tour! Our guide David was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He's one of those guys that you'd definitely want to be friends with. He mixed in some fun facts with all the historical stuff. We got to see the Tower of London, Shakespeare's Globe Theater, Tower Bridge and much more. We ended the tour with a Fish & Chips dinner at a small restaurant that was a bit off the touristy path. I would highly recommend taking this tour. Well worth the money.

I can't say enough great things about this outfit. I've done the Fat Tire Bike Tours in Barcelona and Paris and was eagerly waiting for the London tours. We participated in the river Thames at night and the royal London tours. Both are stellar and neither one overlap each other. Jamie and Rhodie were fantastic tour guides and really enjoy what they do. This is a family affair-most of the employees are related and you can tell they really want their business to thrive. For £20-30, its the best deal in all of London.

I went on this tour last week and had an awesome time!! Our tour guide, Max, did a great job. The tour lasts about 4 hours, and has one 30 minute stop for lunch. They do a good job of splitting the tours up into small groups so no one gets lost. The tour mostly runs through the royal gardens on bike paths, so you don't have to be a professional biker or anything. You also go pretty slow, so it is good for kids. The best part about the tour is that it is very informative! Max added some great information about all of our stops that you wouldn't hear anywhere else!!
My first Fat Tire Tours experience was in Paris, where I found their bike tour to be the perfect antidote to acclimating to the time change. In Britain, I used them successfully again, for a way to highlight London's must-see spaces without having to step inside each royal edifice. Fat Tire Tours offers a variety of guided bike tours of London and I opted for their 4-hour Royal London Tour. It showed me exactly as much as I cared to see of Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and the rest without the tedium of traipsing from room to room inside each structure. The guide, making frequent stops along the busy route, relayed informative and anecdotal information and kept things moving at a snappy pace. Halfway through the tour, a 30-minute lunch/bathroom break at Trafalgar Square is a welcome diversion then it's back on the bikes for a bit more of the same. Fat Tire Tours is a sane and enjoyable way to see things in London and I can pretty much guarantee that you'll have more fun biking to London's sites than walking slowly through them with an audio-guide. The fact that I'm a repeat customer with Fat Tire Tours should speak for itself. In case it doesn't, here's some other details to help convince you: * Access their web site and fail to purchase and when you next access it (or before) you'll get a discount code. That discount meant that my 4-hour tour was under $30US per person. Good value. * Tours can be canceled for full refund up to 72 hours in advance. Why not book it just in case? * Tours aren't canceled for rain but FTT does have rain ponchos you can rent for $1. * 3-speed bikes, helmets, and the tour guide are all included in the price. London is flat, the ride is easy, and the experience is fun. Fat Tire Tours is a great way to experience whatever city you're visiting. read more

Dominique at Fat Tire Tours was incredible! He gave us a wonderful overview of the history and architecture of the beautiful Kensington area of London. I would 100% do the tour a second time around. We saw St James Park where the guards were practicing for the queens upcoming birthday in June. A very exciting time! read more

Such a fabulous day to spend the day in London with a solid bike tour company. Our guide was a local with wonderful stories and knew a few short cuts enabling us to hit the key highlights of the city in the allotted time for the tour. I can't recommend them more and sincerely look forward to going on the Fat Tire Bike Tour in the other cities where they have a presence! read more

this service is great. I took a bike tour some time ago in London and we had a blast. And they are so inclusive. Our group included a family of 4 from Massachusetts with a special needs father. He had a blast. while we all grouped around the guide, the father would ride around us in circles with a great big smile on his face. Seeing him enjoy himself so much made the trip so memorable. read more

Well beyond expectations! My wife and I booked the 4-hour Royal London tour for ourselves and our three kids (ages 5, 10, and 13). We booked a tandem for the 5-year old, so he could ride behind us, and that worked splendidly. The tour itself is jaw-droppingly good. In a span of just a few hours, you travel in and around four parks that connect most of the major attractions in London. We've seen the same sights from a tour bus before, but this bike tour is superior in so many different ways. Among other things, riding a bike allows you to see the city not only from the vantage point of the street, but also from the park trail, which is often much more beautiful. You get some exercise. And perhaps most importantly, you get the benefit of a personal guide who connects with you and the small group of customers on your tour. They are extremely knowledgeable, unstintintinly friendly, and good humored. Everyone we dealt with was great with the kids and full of information on British and local history, as well as suggestions for restaurants, pubs, and other things to see/do while in London. Particular shout-outs to Jamie, Gerard, and Paul. read more
I've been to London quite a few times and I have to say, this was the absolute best way to get around town and to experience this magical city. Zipping through traffic on a fat tire bike was really fun and our guide (Nick) was flippin' awesome -- super informative, interesting and pretty funny. He talked about Kings & Queens; palaces & parliament; wars & famous battles and all the interesting characters through Londons history. You get some free time on the tour to walk around and check out some shops and afterwards we all regrouped at a traditional English pub (there are over 7000 in London) which was a chill spot and a great way to connect with the other people in my tour group. 3 or 4 pints later we were all fast friends and the ride back to our final stop was made that much more exciting ;) read more
This is a perfect tour of London if you hate the idea of being a tourist, or even if you live here and the sun is shining and nothing sounds better than riding a rad beach cruiser through the Royal Parks of your city. While easily pedaling along on your bike, you'll get a cool, almost gossip-history of major landmarks -- Nelson's Column (how his arrogance lead to his death) at Trafalgar Square (did you ever notice how those four lions look just a little strange...?), Kensington Palace (just how fat was Queen Victoria?), Wellington Arch (Duke Wellington's former career as a drunkard and womanizer), the oldest and largest man-made lake in Europe, Buckingham Palace ... I could go on. The guides are laid back and make a fun atmosphere of a typically small (maybe 15) tour group, which in our case included three children aged 7 to 13. And all the stories were juicy but still appropriate for the family-friendly tour. I live here in London, but I now feel like I have loads of cool info to share with my friends and family when they visit, as well as Londoners who know all too well the landmarks, but not the stories behind them. Misc -- Helmets are offered but not required by law; you do cross and ride along some major London roads (we crossed the busiest roundabout in the UK!) but our guide made sure to explain exactly how we would do it, what part of the road to stick to (left, single file), and was so nonchalant about it I felt confident we wouldn't die -- this was especially helpful to me as I aspire to be a bike commuter, and I got a professional introduction on riding on the terrifying London roads; Our stop on the Royal Parks tour did not include a pint (as mentioned by another reviewer), but only a spot to get water, coffee, soda or ice cream at Green park, which was excellent on a hot August day, but would have preferred a pint! read more

I did the Fat Tire London tour the day I arrived in London. I literally got off the plane, dropped my bags, and hunted this place down. This was an excellent plan for two reasons: 1. doing an active bike tour was the perfect remedy to jet lag, and 2. the tour served as a quick orientation to a London, a city I was visiting for the first time. Cute tour guides, beautiful English gardens, and a pub stop--what more could you want?? I recommend Fat Tire to anyone and everyone. read more
I did both the Royal Parks and River Thames tours on back to back days and I have to say they were the highlights of my week-long visit to London. The guides, Cano and Max, on the Royal Parks tour were fantastic, making sure to explain the safety rules about riding in London traffic (not that you do much of that) and keeping everyone safe. Their passion for London and its sights and history was very evident in their humourous narrative of key sights and personalities. I especially appreciated the Royal Parks tour three days later on a visit to Kensington Palace, one of the sights we saw on the bikes. Walking is soooo much slower than zipping around on a beach cruiser. You really cover a lot of ground in a short time (4 hours), allowing you to do even more London sight seeing. The weather was equally wet for the River Thames tour. That one was a bit longer at 5 hours. Our guide, Josh, was very calm, especially in leading our group of ten across the Tower bridge, one of my all-time travel highlights, and then onto a Thames Clipper for a multi-faceted tour. He had a deep knowledge of all things London and was happy to meet up in the pub over lunch to answer any questions about the tour or London. It's great to get advice from a local Londoner. The weather during the days I did the tour was quite dismal so I would recommend taking a pair of gloves. It can be cold and windy as I experienced. And if it's rainy, a cheap rain poncho definitely helps cut down on the wind and keeps you a bit warmer. The guides are happy to make any adjustments to the bikes before setting off. It's good to have a bit of experience with a bike before doing this tour. All in all, a very efficient and entertaining way to see London. read more
Onto tour no. 3 in the bike tour series around Europe, I think it's the only spot I forgot to check-in to which I'm annoyed about, but this bike tour will (review) will go on! We did the royal London bike tour, trekking our way through the gorgeous parks and busy roads of London (following a trail of horse poo)- and peeking through windows (ok fences) to learn about how the other half (I mean royalty) live. We spent most of our time off the main roads and learning about London's royal history before stopping at Trafalgar Square for a bite of lunch. Again like the other Fat Tire tours, my quibble is the lunch stop- what would have made it absolutely, a pokey hole in the wall fish and chip shop! But again, given time, location and the sheer number of people during rush hour, not exactly feasible! The tour goes for 3.5 hours, so not a huge amount of time but plenty to get the most out of London- a bit of history, a bit of scandal, lots of laughter and great stories of break-ins at the big BP- definitely worth visiting if you're a first timer in London! read more

I did the Fat Tire bike tour with a co-worker who had used Fat Tire in Paris. He had had a great experience so we wanted to try it in London. It was awesome! Our tour guide Matt was fantastic. Really funny guy, and knew plenty about the history of London as well as some modern stories. We stopped half-way at Trafalgar Square for food and drinks. It was a light pace and lots of fun. Such an awesome way to see the city and we were well entertained along the way. I would definitely do a Fat Tire tour again with people visiting London, or in a different city. read more

We did the Royal Parks tour, and it was definitely a highlight of the trip. I would recommend doing one of the long tours on the first day because it gives you a great layout of the city and you really get excited about everything there is to do here. Our guide had impressive knowledge about all of the sites we went to, interesting anecdotes throughout the tour, and some great tips about London in general. The Royal Parks tour itself hits a ton of places, so you definitely get your money's worth, and our ride through the parks on a gorgeous fall day could not have been better. You really get to experience the parks as well as all of these great tourist sites. It is a very well-planned out tour. read more

Just got off the bike from a 4 hour tour with Terrific Tom as our guide. My husband, myself and our 11 year old boy couldn't have been more pleased with the sights, stories, safety and pace. Our son did not want to stop. We were able to fit in far more sights than we would have done on foot. The bikes add such a nice above ground element to the day. We will see you in Paris gents. read more

Just finished a great river tour with Tom, our tour guide. He was very well informed, and had a great sense of humor. The bikes were all well maintained, and the route we took was well thought out. It was a great day out to be riding around on bikes. Weather permitting, I think this may be the best way to see London! read more

Solid tour. Spanning four hours including a break for lunch, we saw everything from Kensington Palace, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Wellington Arch, Royal Albert Hall among other things. Our tour guide Andrew was pretty good. He seemed like he was unsure sometimes, but he got us from A to B safely! I would recommend it to anyone in town. Only £30 for 4 hours can't be beat. read more

Colin was a fantastic and very knowledgeable host on our Royal London bike tour. We were in London during November, so we didn't expect perfect weather at all. However, we were well prepared, arrived with our ponchos to see London rain or shine that morning. Our tour turned out so wonderful with our guide Colin, and he also takes great photos as bonus. Our tour ended so perfectly with a peak of sunshine over a rainbow, and a bag full of royal London history lesson from Colin. Don't let the rain stop you! Will definitely do it again in the future. read more

My wife and I booked this tour the night before and there was no issue with the booking process online. We booked the Royal London Bike tour since that was the only option available to us during booking. Nick was our tour guide, and we were absolutely pleased with his knowledge, presentation, and humor. He was very cautious with timing, but made sure it didn't affect the tour. We told him that we wanted to catch the Borough Market before it closed and he made sure he would do his best. He got through the tour without missing a beat and on time. If Nick will be in Paris during the last stretch of our vacation, we would gladly like to have him lead the way again. read more

i really enjoyed this tour. a charming handsome young englishman biking you around the parks in london showing off the normally boring sites (palace blah blah blah, churchill blah blah blah, public execution blah blah blah) and making them vastly more entertaining with stories and...well...biking. there's a stop for a pint right in the middle. mmmm delicious. it's a 4 hour tour, much of it spent riding quite leisurely with many stops although the end was much faster paced, possible due to the lovely london pouring rain. will be doing the fat tire tours in berlin, barcelona and paris as well. good fun! read more

Outstanding tour and customer service all the way through. This was the perfect adventure for an adult and teenager to share, we loved pedaling all over London and enjoying the sights! The opportunity to see Changing of the Guard up close and then pedal down flag waving Pall Mall (and back!) were unforgettable. Great fun for a variety of ages and fitness levels. Fat Tire's partnership with the national parks is fantastic and I was amazed how much green space there is in the heart of London, connecting all the urban landmarks. Informative tour guide who shared historical stories with a style that keeps teens engaged and wanting to learn more. We hope to fill our multi country Fat Tire Passports some day! read more

We took TWO Fat Tire Tours during our stay in London, and loved them both! The Royals tour was super informative and fun without being boring in the least. The Pub Tour was also a super unique experience. I think Fat Tire has a tour for everyone and every style. Highly highly recommend! No need to read any further - just book it! I was in London for a day and was the perfect way to see the city which is so pretty at night! I usually get bored on tours but the guide, Jamie, was amazing - including entertaining stories about the different places. Ask him where the word goosebumps came from - you'll have a whole new appreciation for the word ;) I also liked how small the group was (may have been due to weather) and how the guide allowed enough time for pictures at each of the sites. The tour was one of my favorite parts of my 10 day Europe trip! read more

Great thing to do in London---especially nice at the beginning of your trip as you get to see a lot in a few hours, but more active than sitting on a bus. We took our two kids--11 & 7--they kept up no problem at all and had a great time. Very nice guide--Chris--with fun anecdotes to bring the history part alive. Very good about counting heads & making sure everyone kept up, but still a casual, no pressure vibe. Highly recommend. read more

The best part of the tour were the tour guides. We had a jolly Aussie named Reese and he was quite funny. He took us to see the major landmarks around the Hyde Park / Kensinton Gardens area and gave us neat little stories for context. So it was definitely more interesting than walking through on our own. The bikes were comfortable and they had many to choose from. Furthermore, we had a two-for-one travelcard deal which they honored without any problem. One thing to note is that there were instances where we needed to walk bikes as that area of london was full of foot traffic. It was definitely a more casual bike tour. This is great choice for those just arrived and want a light introduction to the beautiful royal area of London. read more
