Hubby generally is easy peasy when it comes to activities/ tours while on vacation. Besides his interest visiting New Scotland Yard for a photo opportunity- he really wanted to experience Changing of The Guard. Now- if you're reading these Yelp reviews for Fun London Tours- you're most likely debating to wanna pay for a tour OR be cheap and STAND LIKE A SHMUCK for 2 hours AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE to witness the march procession leading up to your spot. (Believe me, that thought did cross my mind). Obviously I didn't go with the latter option. We checked in at the Eros statue by Picadilly tube. And was stoked to find out Danielle (Dani) was our tour guide. From her initial introduction to our group- she mentioned she's a local Londoner! The website isn't joking- bring your most comfortable walking shoes!! As we were headed to our first stop at St. James Court- we stopped by a few statues to brush up on history. Learning about Gentleman's Clubs (and not the exotic kind), The Athenaeum, Edward VII Memorial Statue, bomb shelters, & Horse Guards Parade. The weather was absolutely in our favor today- thank goodness!! However, please refer to their website- because so many factors can change the tour if weather is an issue. The British Army will occasionally cancel the ceremony if it's raining. When at St. James Court, the Royal Army band will feel funky and play something fun. But, when they march outside of the court- it's showtime!! Danielle has her tour guide stick w/ her Union Jack flag & George teddy bear attached. Prior to group moving from one location to the next- she makes the group aware beforehand which direction to turn left or right. Dani was energetic & had great enthusiasm for this tour experience. She wanted to make sure our group was always ahead of any other group doing the same exact tour as well. Danielle even made sure when our group gathered at a new location- to make sure we had "everyone you arrived with". At the end of this tour- which went fast, believe it or not, Danielle would offer more suggestions.

Alex B was great! Talked just enough and added in some fun history about other historical sites in the area. Great viewing points for watching the guards from multiple vantage points. Highly recommend doing the tour over winging it

Recently took the Changing of the Guard tour. The description of the tour was exactly what was delivered and more in terms of the tour guide, Rachael. Fantastic tour guide and great delivery of the content during the tour. Her high energy and livelihood made the tour exceptional. Team Presto appreciates it.

Matt's changing of the guard tour was great and very informative, and it was a great way to see and participate in the events of the changing of the guard while missing the tedium and crowds one encounters when waiting in front of the palace gate. Absolutely wonderful experience and worth every penny. THIS tour is THE way to see the changing of the guard!

My review is for the Changing the Guard Tour. Honestly, I hadn't planned on doing an actual tour. I had it in my head that we'd show up at quarter to noon, plop ourselves down along the gates at Buckingham, watch some sort of ceremony involving the Guard, and then be done with it. The tour was a newer addition, after I got the briefest glimpse of an article about how most people view the ceremony incorrectly. That made me curious, so of course I did some research. And then I researched some more, and then I found the guide that we went out with this morning. I read the reviews, I read some articles, I spoke with Warren, and then I booked the tour. And I'm so glad I did. The entire area surrounding Buckingham Palace was a madhouse. People were running hither and tither, shouting at each other, trying to get ahead of the crowds and the guard. It was chaos. In the midst of all this, Matt, our guide, kept us grouped together, let us know what to expect, and kept us moving. He took us from one stop to the next, giving us bits of history about the city and its famous inhabitants as we went. (Did you know that before Queen Elizabeth II, The Mall - the red road that leads up to the palace - wasn't painted red? It wasn't painted at all! The color was added after she moved in. Fascinating!) We saw three guard changes in total, and were actually keeping step with the band of one of the groups of guards as we were making our way towards the Palace! Our stops took us from in front of the Ministry of Defence/Horse Guards Parade to the front of St. James's Palace, to the front gate of Wellington Barracks, back up towards Buckingham Palace, and ended in front of Prince Charles' residence, Clarence House. It was a lot of walking, it was frantic and sometimes hectic, but it definitely beat camping out in front of a fence for two hours for only the possibility of witnessing something grand.

Wow, we had an amazing tour with this company. We did the Changing of the Guards your. Our guide was super nice, knowledgeable and quick to make sure we got the 'best seat in the house' everywhere that we stopped. It was fun and fast paced and we enjoyed every minute of it. I would highly recommend this company.

Basically, I like them because: * When I call up, they identify me by name, apparently I'm on some screen somewhere that says I'm a regular customer (or so I'd like to think) * Their prices are WAY lower than a black cab, and very competitive compared to other car services. * The drivers are nice; they don't always know the way but that's what GPSes are for (I would like to point this out to the black cab drivers, who with their elitist mentality don't realize memorizing London maps is dépassé) . * They've been reliable, except for one incident where I got the runaround after extreme lateness of the driver. I forgave them because I once gave them the runaround and they didn't get annoyed. As long as they retain their level of service, they'll have a loyal customer/reviewer...

This one has "rippervision" ... the tour guide has a small projector that displays photos on the walls (& ceilings). My daughter and I thought that added to the experience because you can see the actual morgue and crime scene photos. Our tour guide was Alan, who we had for the Changing of the Guard tour, and was awesome. He knows his stuff and was able to nimbly answer some real odd ball questions. What was Jack the Ripper's favorite ice cream flavor? (ok, know one asked that question). I liked that he acknowledged the woman and the end of the tour and didn't focus on the ID of killer. We did the 5p tour, which was probably better, because it's less crowded with other Ripper tours.

Keep in mind that the physical locations of the grisly crime spree looks nothing like it does in 1888, but do you really want it too? It was a time of great despair and destitution in the Whitechapel neighborhood with people literally starving to death on the street and desperate mothers forced into prostitution to pay for a piece of bread for their kids. Mick had photos of the people and neighborhood to transport us back to the time period and his storytelling is superb. The "Rippervision" projector on the walls was an added creepy touch. There are several tours in this area and maybe even with the same meeting points. Make sure to ask when you arrive if this is the tour with Rippervision. It was both chilling and fascinating to walk along the same streets of both Jack the Ripper and his victims, and also you get a historical and empathetic lesson into what it was to live during their times.

I was a bit worried at first that Street Art London might be a big, almost corporate outfit with an aim to profit from the growing (and increasingly mainstream) interest in street art - what with the highly professional website and efficient paypal payment option. Very happy to find out that instead this is a project based on a man's personal interest in pictures on walls and those who create them. Griff is very knowledgeable and happy to share his wisdom, even recommending further sites too far to reach on the day. Street Art tours are available twice a week on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. I spontaneously booked a one-off this May Bank Holiday just gone.
