Grilled pork sausage in the Northern Thai style. #notbreakfastfoodbreakfast

This is the very best Thai restaurant in Queensland hands down bar none, no further correspondence will be entered into on the matter. Nowhere else ever quite gets there for me. I love Thai food. It's incredibly special to me. When I was 24 a very treasured birthday present was a cooking class at Black Pearl Epicure with David Thompson and a copy of his bible Thai Food (which he autographed). It was a genuinely life changing experience. This is the absolute best restaurant. Everything is incredible. It's unbelievable. If you're familiar with Thai foodpaths this place is very much street food. The palace food offerings are limited to a couple of curries and just not that great. But if you want the musty, fiery tang of street food this place is for you. There's a couple of dishes that really stand out for me but as a word of warning, these are dishes very much to my taste so generally protein or salad driven and hotter than hades in summer. You can ask then to tone the heat down but that makes you a weak person. The grilled chicken is just wowza. Charred, sticky, smoky sweet and with a sauce you should order double of. The bamboo salad tastes like rattan furniture smells in the best possible way. The pork larb is meaty and herbal and pungent as it gets and the whole fried catfish is just an absolute delight. Run don't walk.

Best Thai food ever! First vegetarian Tom yum soup I've ever seen - and it was just amazing. The staff are so cool and know their stuff about food. It was really busy when we got there with a long line, so I was excepting a wait time but service was so fast. I had vege spring rolls - I love the vermicelli I think it was inside them. Then Tom yum (vegetarian) best ever. Then a vege pad Thai. My dad ordered a catfish , slightly disappointed there was no head. He was very happy with it - "well worth trying" he said. There was a great selection of beers Thai and Aussie. Wish there was more indoor seating. We will be coming back without a doubt!

this place was good! I had 2 people in my party and we ordered a set that came with 3plates and sticky rice. It was in walking distance to where we were staying, the establishment was very clean and I would recommend!!

As far as cheap Chinatown asian that delivers on quality, Thai Wi-Rat has got to be right up there. Whilst it is generally a tad dearer than most other places around, the quality and authenticity of the food is pretty unparalleled. Despite the fact that it's exclusively counter service, and the fitout is tacky and garish, the food really does speak for itself. Over many visits, I've sampled a wide spread of their dishes, with my favourites being the penang curry, the sai grog e san (a zany little sausage full of flavour) and the pad thai which always pleases. The best thing about this place is that it's BYO (I think technically wine only but the number of times I've bought beers here and have had no issues is many) so it's an ideal stop in for dinner when heading out in the valley, or as a destination in itself. Definitely a must for anybody that would describe themselves as even a mild fan of Thai cuisine.

Thai Wi-Rat -- the name's a little off-putting, but the food is actually pretty good. With indoor and outdoor dining available, I think outdoor is nice as the Chinatown Mall is newly refurbished and kept clean, perhaps a lot cleaner than it's neighbour, Brunswick Street Mall. With BYO, this is a great place for a group wishing to dine casually, but well. Highly recommend.

Personal favourites of mine of mine for starters (if they have any) are the Crystal Balls or stuffed chicken wings. Mains I usually attack any of their massamam curries or the tom yum soup. The staff are always around and looking to serve you and fill up your water. Another great thing about Thai Ways is that it is BYO and the closest bottle shop is about ten meters down the street. The food is pretty simple, not totally authentic as far as other Thai restaurants around Brisbane but that probably helps in keeping the prices down. That and its an absolute pleasure to dine there. I recommend it to everyone.

I got there just after 15 minutes and I was actually late. I didn't have to wait. I ordered the green curry, coconut prawns, drunken noodle, basil chicken and fried rice. They all tasted great. So far this is the best food joint I have visited in Albion and 4011 post code region combined. The food wasn't bland, it had full of favors and the serving size was excellent. Definitely would be back for another takeaway and eat in (decorations are amazing).

The restaurant has a lovely interior and a paved, outdoor eating area with umbrellas. The table beside us was occupied by a foursome of indie kids on their way to the valley and the guys weren't wearing shoes. So this place is fancy enough to dress nicely, but casual enough to go shoeless! We rocked up pretty late, at around 8:45pm, but the staff were welcoming and let us stay until 9:30pm. That said, they did accidentally switch the lights off while we were eating, but it was fair enough considering we were sitting in on their pack up time. The food is perfect, but a little pricey for me, with most mains ranging from $15-$20. We got the red duck curry ($18.50) and Som Tamm salad (carrot, cabbage, and dried shrimp). The salad was packed with chilli, so be warned if you've got a delicate palate! Lunch hours: Baan Thai is open for lunch on Monday - Fridays, from 12-2pm.

With such a close proximity to those surrounding me, I couldn't imagine what it would be like eating in there in summer. We are seated quickly and orders taken. No less than five minutes have gone by and our entrees of chicken satays skewers are served. They're succulent to eat and the sauce is one of the best I have tasted in a while. I really can't concentrate on anything else. With the volume ever increasing whist more people are seated its difficult to have a conversation without potentially ruining my vocal chords. Yes that is an exaggeration but not to far from the truth. Just like how quickly our main meals arrive at our table. If there's one thing to praise Thai Kitchen for, it's definitely the urgency to get orders out. I don't think we've gone more than five minutes without food. I get into my (beef) Gang Massaman and my friend starts on his (duck) Gang Ped Yang. Mid way through the meal we sample the others dish and come to two conclusions. The first is that both dishes are pretty damn fly and the second is that the sauces for both dishes kind of taste the same. It's weird. When the last grain of rice and final drop of sauce has been consumed a waiter is there to swiftly take up our plates, offer deserts (which we decline) and pour us waters. We pay our bill and walk away feeling like we've just been efficiently fed processed and set free.

I wouldn't recommend eating in at Thai Kitchen because the premises is very cramped and noisy, but for takeaway it's perfect. I always phone in and place my order and it's usually ready to be picked up in about twenty minutes. They're very accommodating about customising your meal and are happy to leave meat or seafood out of dishes for vegetarians. They alway ask if you want your meal mild, medium, or hot so if you're not a chilli fan you don't have to worry. I wish their kitchen stayed open later, though, because even though they're open until 9:30, last orders are at 8:15. I love their vegetarian red curry and vegetarian pad thai, and my meat-eating friends recommend the thai beef salad and duck curry. It's reasonably priced, friendly, and delicious and obviously has a loyal following since it's still going after so long. There's short-term parking on the street out the front so you can dash in and grab your order, and if you want to eat in there's parking out the back. Thai Kitchen is much better than your average suburban thai place, and whenever I feel like thai I don't even think twice about where to go.
