I am constantly trying out new Thai restaurants hoping to get this holy grail of combinations. When I spotted Siri Thai on my local shopping strip I figured I'd give it a crack. We ordered take away from the very reasonably priced menu. The entree of coconut prawns was spectacular which was a great start. Unfortunately it all got a little standard from that point on. The red curry my partner ordered lacked depth of flavour, and my Thai beef salad was too strong on shallot and too weak on herbs. The beef rump had also been cut with the grain of the meat, not against it, so it was extremely tough - I was actually unable to eat a few pieces due to this. The serves were generous, and with an extra addition of herbs from my garden the second night of eating was better. This is a good local Thai restaurant, but I think I'll keep searching for the ultimate Thai culinary experience.

So just like that I was there and selecting from one of their amazing lunch items which cost only $9 for take away and $10 for eat in (WTF AMAZING). I choose the vegetarian red curry with tofu and WOW that was a good thai curry. Made within 10 minutes the rich, balanced, flavoursome experience was well worth my back-pocket change! WARNING I have been told the pad thai is very hit and miss...actually not even just hit or miss its hit or WHAT-THE-HELL-IS-THIS-IS-MY-MOUTH-bad...maybe just stay away fromt he pad thai and totally go for the curries!

Past the makeshift counter, you can see directly into the kitchen where the cooks prepare meals with a relaxed and carefree smile. Don't worry, its all good. If there's one thing that I've learned about Thai restaurants and takeaways, it's never judge the establishment by the way it appears. When I first arrived, my initial though was, I knew it was too good to be true. It was only that afternoon when my wife and I oow'd and ahh'd over a new thai menu found in our letterbox. We'd tried everything around the area and were happy to find a new place to indulge in. We ordered and were told our pick up would be ready in twenty minutes. This was great. When served at the counter, I was told that our food would be another five minutes. This was forgivable. When the plastic containers came out, steam building in the transparent containers, I took notice of the vibrant colours of the curries and warm beef salad we had ordered. That was reassuring. Arriving at home and opening our dinner, we were surprised that there was a genuine fresh look to the meals. The aromas themselves indicated that our meals hadn't been taken from some big pot of premade food. Compared to similar takeaways Chinpala Kitchen, doesn't serve as much, but makes it up in pure contentment through oral satisfaction.

Thankfully, in these neck of the woods Amazing Thai is just one of those places. Brilliant, whoever came up with those names, I love it. So when I was puttling around the northside of Brisbane, didn't even know that there was a suburb called Gaythorne by the way, and when my boyfriend now husband at the time told me, I actually asked him if he was joking. True story. So being fans of the Thai cuisine, I was out to search for a mean Pad Thai, my weakness. Always with chicken. Amazing Thai sits perfectly on the corner of Samford and Gaythorne road. The owner is this cute little Thai lady who really does do everything. There are a few wait staff sometimes, but the shop isn't that big and they can get away with just 1 or 2 extras on busy nights. The Money Bags in this place was my first experience. The water chestnuts, the minced chicken meat, the crunchy fresh ingredients wow. Then we had the Pad Thai, a Green Curry with Chicken and a Beef Stirfry. There is a difference between throwing things into a mess together and frying them at a high heat to throwing the ingredients at the right times to make the perfect flavour and combination. Amazing Thai do serve amazing food. The food tastes fresh, tastes quality and tastes like Thailand. You can usually get a table here, but on a busy night, try making a booking first as the restaurant only seats a small amount of people. True to their name, gold star all the way.

The service is impeccable and the staff, some of the best in town. Never has there been a time where I've gone to Thai At Grovely and felt I was being rushed out or thought that the food was not as good as the last time I visited. When I go here, I make sure I invite some friends so they too can spread the word. For me nothing beats, for starters, the chicken satays skewers. The chicken is so moist and plump and the sauce is so viscous and chock full of peanut. For mains I always order the green chicken Curry. Its served with fresh vegetables and the meat is always tender and never overcooked. Love this place and you will too.

The place itself is modern and comfortable, not busy at all when I visited (a Saturday night). The menu was divided into soups, salads, chef specials, curries, stir-fries, noodles and rice as well as vegetarian options. New to Thai dishes and not keen on spicy dishes, I opted for pork pad thai with chicken skewers for entree. The food didn't take long at all which was great. The chicken skewers were accompanied with a delicious peanut sauce; I definitely recommend it. The pad thai was large, with a side of salad, sprinkled with nuts and a generous amount of pork. It was full of flavour and quite filling however a tad salty for my personal taste. In saying that, I left satisfied and couldn't finish my plate due to the portion size.

With such a close proximity to those surrounding me, I couldn't imagine what it would be like eating in there in summer. We are seated quickly and orders taken. No less than five minutes have gone by and our entrees of chicken satays skewers are served. They're succulent to eat and the sauce is one of the best I have tasted in a while. I really can't concentrate on anything else. With the volume ever increasing whist more people are seated its difficult to have a conversation without potentially ruining my vocal chords. Yes that is an exaggeration but not to far from the truth. Just like how quickly our main meals arrive at our table. If there's one thing to praise Thai Kitchen for, it's definitely the urgency to get orders out. I don't think we've gone more than five minutes without food. I get into my (beef) Gang Massaman and my friend starts on his (duck) Gang Ped Yang. Mid way through the meal we sample the others dish and come to two conclusions. The first is that both dishes are pretty damn fly and the second is that the sauces for both dishes kind of taste the same. It's weird. When the last grain of rice and final drop of sauce has been consumed a waiter is there to swiftly take up our plates, offer deserts (which we decline) and pour us waters. We pay our bill and walk away feeling like we've just been efficiently fed processed and set free.

I wouldn't recommend eating in at Thai Kitchen because the premises is very cramped and noisy, but for takeaway it's perfect. I always phone in and place my order and it's usually ready to be picked up in about twenty minutes. They're very accommodating about customising your meal and are happy to leave meat or seafood out of dishes for vegetarians. They alway ask if you want your meal mild, medium, or hot so if you're not a chilli fan you don't have to worry. I wish their kitchen stayed open later, though, because even though they're open until 9:30, last orders are at 8:15. I love their vegetarian red curry and vegetarian pad thai, and my meat-eating friends recommend the thai beef salad and duck curry. It's reasonably priced, friendly, and delicious and obviously has a loyal following since it's still going after so long. There's short-term parking on the street out the front so you can dash in and grab your order, and if you want to eat in there's parking out the back. Thai Kitchen is much better than your average suburban thai place, and whenever I feel like thai I don't even think twice about where to go.

They get points for having Roti Chennai with Satay sauce (mmmmm) but my husbands Chicken Pad Thai was distressingly lacking in any veg (although he was happy as he hates vegetables). There's a nice little patio area out the front where you can sit at tables in the breeze. I think the thing that I like best about Thai Chada is how dedicated the staff are. Whenever I go past (which is at least daily) and all the other restaurants in this little village are closed, Thai Chada is reliably open and keen to welcome you. It's nice to see a suburban restaurant willing to stay open on past 8:30pm and also on Monday nights, especially for those of us who don't finish work until late or prefer not to eat too early. Thai Chada's diligence extends beyond opening hours, too. The staff are so warm and helpful and always seem pleased to see you.
