I worked at an office building nearby. This is the first Cambodian restaurant I have ever been to…read more Very yummy. My starter was a crunchy spring roll type thing served with delicious mint and lettuce leaves. The mint really made the dish special. My main course was chicken in a red curry and coconut sauce. Dessert was a tapioca pudding. Tres bien all around.

I ordered: -Amok poisson- white fish, yellow coconut milk curry, basil, bamboo shoots, and bell pepper (cooked in banana leaves) -Noodles sautéed with vegetables -White rice I also had one of my friend's spring rolls & tasted the sliced banana, tapioca, and warm coconut milk. I was disappointed. The white rice was undercooked; the sautéed noodles were cold, oily, and had only a few bean sprouts and carrots by the way of vegetables; the banana dessert needed more sugar; and the Amok poisson could have been lovely if it weren't for a slight fishy wateriness that kept cutting through the flavors of curry and basil. The spring roll was the best part of the meal - fresh, ingredients well-dosed. The servers were friendly enough, but I really didn't appreciate their **walking through the dining room at 10:30 pm, placing checks on the tables, saying "we're closing," and then dragging the trash bin and baskets through the dining room right in front of all lingering diners.** Chez Ama may not be in the center of Paris, but 10:30 is early--anywhere in France-- for kicking out customers. I might come back, but probably not. Not when there are restaurants like Tamarind, whose red curry Amok poisson with sticky rice was a pure pleasure.

The food were kinda pricey, but the quality definitely did not match. We ordered: fried tofu, tom yam, pad Thai, sautéed crab with some vegetables. We only liked the pad Thai and perhaps the Tom Yams, the others weren't good.

WOW. I decided to try this restaurant with a couple of…read morefriends since we were craving Thai food. My friend and I both ordered entrees, however, our third friend did not (not an unusual occurrence in the US), which seemed to seriously anger the waitress. A couple minutes later she returns and starts speaking to us in French, but since we only speak broken French we could not understand. She then proceeds to pull aside another customer in the restaurant and asks him to translate for us. He seemed pretty uncomfortable when he was translating for us. Apparently, we were not allowed to be seated at a 4 person table unless at least 3 of us were eating, since they did not want us a block the space for other customers. We offered to move to a smaller table, however the waitress tried to force us to order a third dish. Normally, I would not be that offended by this, however, the restaurant was completely EMPTY other than us and the man who translated for us. Whose space were we taking up? I simply did not understand. Not only did she try and force us to order another dish, she spoke to us in a completely condescending tone. Perhaps I am too used to the American standards of restaurant service, but I have never been talked to in such a rude manner by someone whose job is to cater to me. We were so offended by her treatment of us that we left before even getting our food. Even though I did not actually try the food, the horrendous costumer service is enough to avert me from ever returning to this place. I would definitely NOT recommend, especially if you are a tourist in the area. There are so many better Thai restaurants in Paris, don't even waste your time by going to this place.
