My friends decided to have a semi-reunion dinner. I've eaten here many of times, but it's been a while. I'm glad we ate here because I remembered why I love it so. The portions are huge, the seating does not take long, it's comfortable and you don't get cold. The staff is nice and checks on you consistently. I always order the S-1 which is the BBQ chicken and shrimp rice. It's a lot, you get a breast/wing and thigh for under $9. Pretty good deal. It also comes with a nice sauce. I order a lot from this place . The portions have gotten smaller . I was really disappointed to find the pork bbq Thai that I ordered a la Carte was the scrap end portions of a rack of ribs . They were having a private party at the back and I could only guess that they cut the leftover portions of several racks of ribs to make up my order . They were 6 cut up pieces of ribs ( no bones ) instead of the usual 4-5 pieces of connected pork ribs. I will start looking for a better Thai restaurant in ssf. read more

Thai bbq is the hands down the top of the line best Thai food I ever tasted and believe I tasted plenty of food. I am no stranger when it comes too great food. When you come too Thai bbq which you will after you read my post. Order the S1 it has half a chicken a leg and a thigh and a ton of rice with this sweet not too sweet but just right sauce that goes perfect over the rice . I don't eat rice but I clear my plate by eating the rice first . Oh ya order the calamari too go with it then you really have an extreme meal . portions are huge so if you are hungry and want too take the family some were or your just hungry or would like to take your significant other out too lunch or dinner this is the spot forreal. So be prepared to have a nice feast with your family or with your significant other. To this day, this place still has the best pad see ew I've had in the South City area. I usually order take out via Yelp which I find incredibly useful. I just order online and am given a wait time, usually 15-30 minutes. Then I drive down and pay and I'm out the door. However, my family and I came on a Monday night at about 7 for my uncle's birthday dinner. When we got in, the restaurant has a good amount of booths and tables for smaller parties and a back room for bigger parties. There's a bit of a smell when you get in, not really sure how to describe it. It becomes unnoticeable after awhile. Our party of 8 was seated right away in the back room. There were two TVs playing MNF and the Warriors game when it came on so if you're into that, this is a place where you can watch sports. The service is pretty quick and accommodating and the food delicious! I'm a creature of habit so I don't usually get anything else besides my pad see ew, but I've tried the red curry chicken and I've heard their BBQ is pretty tasty! read more

i love thai food; however, this place is not that great. I went in to get some chicken sate and yellow curry chicken. The prices weren't too ridiculously high however it was high for the quality of food. The chicken sate was okay, not great or anything but they did give me 8 pieces of chicken when most places only give you a few: +1 star The yellow curry had full pieces of chicken, like the bone and everything. It made lots of small pieces of bones inside the curry which was a bit annoying since i would bite down on a bone every few seconds and the curry itself was full of oil and was very watered down. I don't know about all the other food there, but it seems to me that im not really interested in trying again. According to all the other reviews, s-2 seems to be good or okay but I'm sticking to other thai places when I get the cravings again. +1 star for being prompt with the food and having a decently clean establishment. read more

This might be our new go to place for Thai. We've been scouring the city and looking for a place with just the right heat -- this place does it all. We ordered the Chicken Thai soup and Jade Green curry. When ordering we emphasized that we wanted the curry really really hot (usually the Thai places we've been to ignore everything you say and give you a mild dish and a bowl of pepper flakes/oil). We received the soup and began to chow down enjoying the creamy and sour flavors thinking the soup may be the highlight of the meal. When the curry came out we both lingered on the soup before tasting the curry. The composition of the curry was primarily bamboo shoots (flavored and cooked well) and the curry was the prefect heat. Of all the Thai places we've visited in the SF bay area, this is the only one we keep returning to. Not sure about the rest of the menu but we loved what we ordered. read more

i have gone to this place a handful of times over the years out of convenience as i live close by and generally have had decent experiences to where i could go back. if my other go to thai spots in westlake and ssf were closer i would have ZERO reason to go here. my last visit here would have to be my absolute last as the experience lacked in all aspect from the service, the food and value. we went on a weekend night for dinner with my family. we ordered several dishes - teriyaki salmon, pad thai, angel wings, tom yum soup, musamun beef curry and ruby chicken curry. while i was placing my order i was a bit indecisive on a beef dish and was looking for suggestions from the waitress and rather than be suggestive i was cut short and was told she would put our order in and come back whenever i decided on the rest. VERY RUDE if you ask me. after a slower than expected time to get our first dish, the waitress 1st delivered the soup, which to our surprise was brought out in the pot w/ handle w/out the warmer. the soup was luke warm as confirmed by myself and mom and when i informed the waitress about this she looked insulted saying the soup is hot. she even went as far as putting her hand on the pot as if that's an indicator that the soup is hot. after pleading w/ the lady that we would like the soup warmer, in disgust the lady brought out the warmers. aside from the curries the rest of the dishes were typical thai. the curry dishes on the other hand would have to be the worst ive ever tasted. musamun beef - no vegetables and very bland sauce ruby chicken - some vegies, the chicken had no flavor and was tough, the sauce for this dish was even more bland than the musamun. we really struggled to finish these dish as both lacked so much flavor. aside from being rude, wait staff barely came around our table to see if we needed anything else and only came once towards the end to fill our water. to top things off, the bill included a 15% tip as part of the total. we will never come back to this place every AGAIN. there are better options in the area to where we would have no reason to patronize this place when looking for thai options. check out white elephant in south san francisco for thai food or bangkok garden in westlake read more

Four stars for this restaurants. I would have given them five stars but their shrimp fried rice was brought out of the microwave. And it got cold in no time, which makes me think twice about going back to this restaurant . Let me tell you about this so called "shrimp fried rice" because it usually is mistaken with the chinese shrimp fried rice. This thai shrimp fried rice is actually a saffron colored plain fried rice with a couple of shrimp on top. That's it. No vegetables or herbs in it. Just a boring plain fried rice. Ok. My favorite dish is S-2 BBQ pork which is falling off the bone, tender and juicy. When I used to work at Pak-N-Save, the next door, I ordered their food all the time. But when I went back to this restaurant last year, they gave me this microwaved fried rice, which turns me off big time. this is probably as good as it gets for local thai food, in this area anyway. portions are huge and prices are pretty cheap. try not to sit next to the door as it can get windy with customers walking in and out, although sitting next to the fish tank is fun. I've been coming here for a few years, and have finally perfected the amount of food to order between me and my girlfriend. A rice plate may prove to be too much for one person most of the time. So I go with the S-2 (BBQ ribs plate) and some shrimp wanton soup. Sharing this between the 2 is either plenty or just enough. I can't complain about the price either. I originally found this restaurant through its chain in Pomona. The ribs are pretty good, and the secret sauce they give you on the side is legendary. Their rice with shrimp is also very good, especially with the sauce drizzled on top. The food comes out fast, and the portions are generous; I never leave hungry. read more

I am very disappointed at their small portion of Thai salad. It was a small plate for $5.95, which only had a little bit of lettece, with very little shredded chicken that tasted dry and flavorless, a few slices of tomatoes, and cucumbers. I was not full at all. On top of that, they charged me 18% during lunch time, because I ate in a group, so my total turned out to be almost $8. They didn't do much to make the salad special. I always order seafood combination with coconut cream soup. Yummy!!! It's sour and spicy! If you like hot and sour soup then you might like this. I also love their S-1 chicken. It's so juicy. They serve a lot every time but one time when me and my boyfriend decided to order just one plate of S-1 after working out; for some reason they made the serving smaller, only that time. I think that was not nice of the waitress or of the cook. The service used to be super slow but now I can see that they have improved. I went there yesterday for the first time. I order chicken larb and chicken yellow curry. The chicken yellow curry was gross. It had chopped up bones and skin in it and no vegetables.I tried to get all of the bones out but ended up feeling like I had a piece of bone stuck in my throat for an hour. I have never had a curry like that. The larb didn't taste right. I've eaten a lot of Thai food and will NEVER eat at this place again. read more
