I can't tell you how many times Ive eaten at the Las Vegas locations of Thai Original BBQ and have always loved their amazing BBQ chicken (to see previous review click link http://alturl.com/fcbqv ). Apparently all locations aren't created equal. Something just seemed amiss with our experience here. Don't get me wrong, the service was pleasant and efficient, the food just didn't taste awesome. Drunken Noodles with Beef - While the dish overall tasted good the noodles were so overcooked they were literally falling apart. The beauty behind this dish are the bouncy slick noodles and without those, well it's just stir fry. S1 - This is the house special BBQ chicken combination that comes with fried rice. To start the chicken was kind of on the dry side and not particularly flavorful. Even their awesome sauce couldn't really bring the flavors and textures of the Vegas locations taste. The chicken skin was kind of slimy and lacked the little burnt bits that bring so much flavor. Very disappointing. The shrimps in the fried rice were pretty fishy tasting though those flavors didn't come off in the rice itself, only when you were eating the shrimp. The rice however was light, fluffy, moist and flavorful. It was as exactly how I remembered it. Trust me, dump some of their awesome sauce all over the rice and you have a meal in itself. On a side note the shopping center where TOB is located also houses several other Asian options (saw Korean and Vietnamese places). If Im in the area again I think I might go again just to make sure. Or maybe Ill be better off just visiting another location on my next trip to Vegas. Who knows, but I sure miss that tasty BBQ chicken. read more

OH MY GOD! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Even tho I had already eaten Thai food this week, I couldn't pass my chance to try it at this place for comparison. And this place is reaaaaaalllly reallllly gooood. And trust me, I've eaten at many Thai restaurants. Ordered the S1 special--which was fried rice w/ shrimp and BBQ chicken. YUMMMY, the rice was very flavorful and the chicken was really good, very juicy. And of course, had to try their Pad Thai. Yummmmm, very very moist (that's what she said)! HAHAH. =) But best combination... FRIED RICE + PAD THAI = DROOLS!!! =) I really thought this was an independent restaurant, but I guess it's a chain since there's one in LA. Hmm, who knew. Long and overdue review! My man and I come here almost every other weekend to have the usual - S1 aka Thai bbq chicken w/ broccoli & he has the peppersteak with garlic chicken. We also get the shrimp roll appetizers if we're goin' all in that evening! If you are free any weekday between 11am-3pm, take advantage of their lunch special! Limited items, but they're the popular ones and same portion sizes as regular a la carte :) The waitresses & waiters are super nice and the food is cooked quick! You're in and out, busy or not. Came here for my pad thai craving yesterday. I live close by so I was really hoping that it would be my go-to thai-craving restaurant and what can I say...I'm a fan! Called to pick up my order and it was ready after 10 minutes. Order came out to $11.45. One thing that I have to say though....when I opened the box, something didn't smell right. I order takeout from here recently and while this is not the best Thai food spot around, it's an ok option. From the time I put in my order, my food was packaged and ready to go within 15 minutes. There is also an area to sit and wait for your food which is nice. The menu has all your stand Thai food options. The food itself is average. It's not bad but again, it's not the best. The pricing is no higher or lower than the competition and the location is convenient with plenty of parking. It's been ages since I've been here, and yesterday we finally went back. Surprisingly it wasn't even crowded for a Saturday evening at 5:30PM. Plenty of tables and not too many parking spaces outside, but then again there are so many other restaurants that line the strip mall. I stuck with my usual House combos. I ordered the BBQ Chicken combo which came with the shrimp fried rice. Lil man ordered the chicken satay combo with same fried rice. And our friend ordered the garlic pork with a side of steamed rice. That was the first time ordering the BBQ chicken, and it was just alright. I wasn't impressed. The rice is NOT what it used to be. No flavor to it WHAT.SO.EVER. And I swear there used to be more shrimp in there instead of the 2 measily pieces thrown on top. The rice also seemed dry and lukewarm. The satay was as I remembered. Still pretty good but the rice accompaniment was again... disappointing. My friend shared some of her garlic pork, which tasted more like back pepper than anything else. No garlic flavor in there. It was pretty expensive in my opinion. Maybe that's why we haven't been there in so long. It's a nice alternative being that we were seated right away, but the food was mediocre and the prices were fair I suppose considering it was dinner. A friend had once recommended this place to me as a great lunch joint, and they were definitely right. Since that first trip a couple of years ago, I've been coming back periodically ever since. They have the usual suspects on the menus, from your Pad Thai noodles to your Mint Chicken plates to a variety of curry dishes. Most of the food is pretty standard, so there aren't a lot of hit-and-misses from what I've experienced. But to be honest, I generally don't stray too far off from their lunch menu items. They have about 10 different offerings available, but the best by far (for me) is their spare rib lunch plate. The portions are pretty generous as they give you three long pork ribs plus fried rice. I hear good things about the roasted chicken dish too, but I just can't give up those ribs. Not when I know how good they are. The curry chicken and mint chicken lunch plates are tasty, but the portions don't stand up to the ribs. The noodles here are pretty solid too - the aforementioned Pad Thai, as well as the Pad See-Ew. The Angel WIngs appetizer is not bad as well, but I'll stick with Marnee Thai for that. read more

We were feelin' hella hungry, lazy and just plain tired. We came here because it was nearby and the food is pretty good. On this visit, I learned they're pretty fast as well. For me, it's always been that if the food comes quick, there lacks flavor and quality. Well, I guess I'm changing that train of thought now, because this place changed my mind. The menu that night: Tom Yoong Goong, the hot and sour soup with shrimp (perfectly sour and just so damn GOOOOD) Eggplant basil (I LOOOOVE eggplant! And basil on top is just the shizz) Chili prawns (The prawns were overcooked and rubbery. NO bueno, but it wasn't my order, so I wasn't trippin. I'm so bad, huh?) Garlic shrimp (There was no va-va-voom, no pizazz or special zing to it. I could've made it at home and BETTER. But again, ain't my dish, so I ain't trippin.) Orgasmic Thai food with hearty portions... at my FAVORITE Thai restaurant EVERRRR. There's another Thai BBQ sister-restaurant in So. Cal, same exact menu but it doesn't taste the same to me. I never tried thai food until I came here (over a decade ago) and all other thai spots since then are mediocre compared to this. I always get the combination plate. My ultimate favorite is the Chicken/Beef Sate' (meat skewers) which are perfectly marinated, always juicy and tender, never tough or bland, the flavor never too salty. The same goes for the BBQ Chicken or Sweet Angel (stuffed chicken), which are a close second. And try the peanut sauce and cucumber salad!! I ALWAYS stir my rice into the empty sauce container so that I can scrape up every last drop. All combo plates come with shrimp fried rice. It is a MUST-HAVE. It wont throw off your meal, it's not fishy smelling or too shrimpy, but just the perfect little side dish. The Pad Thai, Pad See-Ew, and Panang Beef are my favorite a-la-cart items. And I highly recommend the combination soup. They keep a lit sterno/hot plate under your soup so it never gets cold during your meal. What a great idea... There's always enough to take home as leftovers. Nothing compares to the Fried Banana. They drizzle honey on it so it's very sweet, but the ice cream balances it out, and if not, get a thai iced tea or thai iced coffee to wash it down. Their thai drinks are creamy and sweet, not watery, not generic tasting, like some places. The wait is never long, and the bathrooms and restaurants are clean enough to be a potential second-date place. The employees are there to do their job, and do it right. Which is why... Always come here with my mom and get different things each time. I don't know what authentic Thai is but I would guess it's this. If you like a sweet kick to your food, this is the place to be. The quality of their food is great. The waiter service is nice, friendly, and welcoming. From my experience, nothing is over or under done and everything has so much flavor! Their soups have a nice sour kick to it and is nice to have on a typical cold day here in this city, There is also a lunch menu on weekdays that is a good deal. This place is a must try. I ordered for pick up. The waiter said it will be done in 10 minutes. I grab my keys and I'm headed out the house. I like the efficiency of this place. You order and they have your food ready by the time you get here. The food portions are average size. Not too big, but not too small either. I had the Chicken Pad Thai and the Tom Kha Gai. The Chicken Pad Thai wasn't too bad, but it wasn't too great either. It's not to the point where I say, man, this Chicken Pad Thai makes me want to do backflips and sprints! It's good, but not great. The Tom Kha Gai soup was exceptional. I love this soup. It's creamy, yet spicy. It's good for cold days and especially if you're sick. (I happened to be sick) The only reason why I gave this place 3 stars is because their prices are off the hook! When I walked out of there it cost about $22 bucks for these two items. This is my go-to spot in Daly City when I don't feel like driving 20 minutes for Thai food in SF. My only con about this place is that the prices on the menu are a little more than what'd you see at other Thai restaurants. Still worth a good meal. I've ordered the pad see ew every time for the past 5 years and the consistency remains the same. Thick noodles, chewy beef, and the broccoli always crispy with a hint of softness. My daughter loves the orange rice with eggs, that's their signature rice I believe. This isn't the best Thai food I've had, but I really only come for the rice plates. I always go for S-1 which is half of their house special chicken with shrimp fried rice for only $9.50. Sometimes certain parts of the chicken can be more dry than the others, but their house special sauce which is basically sweet and sour sauce really fixes that. The shrimp fried rice is really just their normal fried rice with 2 pieces of shrimp, but still tasty. I've had other items on the menu when I've gone with my family, but it's nothing memorable. But the portions are huge, the food is decently good and the price is pretty cheap for a dinner plate. The service is nothing notable either, they'll take your order, bring your food and let you be after that other than offering water refills. The place itself is a little dated with old furniture, old school artwork on the walls and a big ol fish tank in the front. I don't know guys, this place is pretty regular to me. It's not bad but it's not the best either. I've been here twice and nothing really blew me away. The portions are pretty big. I ordered the yellow chicken curry the second time I came here and I didn't like that the chicken had the bones on still. It was hard to eat. I ate half, took the rest home and didn't event touch it. It was just meh. Place is just alright, food is mediocre. I don't find myself craving to come back to this place. It's whatevs, it's definitely not my first choice when it comes to Thai food. I have a lot of friends rave about this place so I had to check them out. I think they're affiliated with the LA "Original Thai BBQ". Not sure. But they do look alike. Anyway, I came here one night with a huge craving for Thai Food. Fortunately, this place was pretty good. Clean, reasonably priced, & service was great. What I Ordered: - Papaya Salad: Light and citrusy. Good portion and lots of color. I'm still a little for fond of the Vietnamese style but glad I tried it. - Pad Thai: Pretty good. Nice texture, good amount of protein, & had great flavor. I'm more of a Pad See Eew kinda guy but this was delicious. A little tart though for my taste. - Panang Curry with Beef: So delicious! One of the best panang curries I've had. The beef was so tender and the flavor from the broth was just perfect. I love how they actually use the rind of Kaffir Limes to impart the traditional aroma to the dish. Very well executed. Highly recommended. Overall, I definitely will come back. I decided to come here because it is close to where I work, and I was craving for Thai food during lunch time. Why not give it a try? I was super hungry and I really wanted to order everything on the lunch special menu, but in the end I chose the red curry with beef. I was surprised everything on the lunch menu is served with either fried rice or steamed rice and that's a plus because many other Thai restaurants charge at least two dollars for a bowl of steamed rice(well, curry with no rice, do you expect me to drink it lol???). Now let me talk about the food: Portion was reasonable for lunch, but you know I was super hungry so I didn't think it was enough for me. Taste was okay, not the best place to have curry but I was satisfied. However, I was a little bit disappointed that they didn't put any veggie in the curry, I was expecting something like onion or potato tho. I usually order the Pad Thai or Pad See Yu(Sp?) which are both absolutely delightful, but every single time I try to steer away from the norm and try something new it was just terrible. Hit this place up with some familia. My cousin Arlene and her boyfriend Darwin suggested the 'S-1'. It didn't even take too long for the food to arrive. "BAM! We land on your table like dinner time." They weren't lying when they said we'd get large portions. The plate was friggin' huge! I went to Thai BBQ with a friend who recommended we go there. We ordered the Thai spring rolls (sorry, I know.. I don't exactly remember what they're called!) as an appetizer, and I ordered the Dearest Crab based off of Yelp reviews that I had read before going there. Although it may be one of the best things on the menu, I have to say that it wasn't as great as I thought it would be, and Yelp reviews seem to have glorified it for more than what it really was. It was like a thick ball of crab, meat, veggies, and glass noodles all balled-up together and fried. I think it's awesome that they serve each of their entrees with their special shrimp fried rice. It makes the dish that much better instead of serving it with plain white rice. I also ordered a Thai iced tea, which, as long as it is freshly made, will taste good anywhere. The service was okay. It seemed that, at one point, they had forgotten about me, my friend, and my daughter. The overall value for the food was great, though! The dinner entrees were about $10/person. I will definitely come back if I'm craving some Thai food in the area. read more
