I am glad I found them again after they closed their old location. In my opinion, this is the best Thai restaurant in the Bay Area, offering high-quality food at reasonable prices. The staff is always courteous, and the restaurant is clean and inviting. Our go-to orders are the Thai BBQ ribs and the Pad Thai, both of which are delicious. They only accept cash, unless you order from Door Dash.

I thought this Thai Original BBQ would be the same as the Cerritos location but they seem different. This location is cash only and there are only 2 tables for dine in. We opted to dine in because we wanted to eat right away. The staff are extremely nice and friendly.

I have always wanted to try this place and today I did! I ordered Phad Thai noodles with chicken only and green curry for to go. I did not want to eat at the restaurant as they were getting ready to close for the night. I was hoping this place would be delicious and it was! The Phad Thai noodles were not dry at all. The flavors were authentic and the noddle were saucey to my liking! The curry was flavorful as well and not too spicy. I would highly recommend this place because the food is good and the prices are affordable! The restaurant was clean as well! There is good value in the portion sizes! I did not finish my noodles so there are left overs for the next day! If you are ever in the Pacifica area close to Serramonte mall please check out this local business and show them some love! The only thing I did not like was the CASH ONLY payments!

I haven't been to Thai Original BBQ since it was located on Gellert before the Mercedes dealership took over that strip mall. I remember the food being good, solid home-cooking. I decided to pick-up dinner recently and called in my order. It's important to note that they no longer accept credit cards. It's a cash-only establishment. The person who took my phone order was kind enough to let me know they beforehand so I made sure I had enough cash. The restaurant is takeout only. There aren't even tables set-up for dine-in. I ordered a pad Thai, a bbq chicken with shrimp fried rice and a curry catfish. The pad Thai is a 8/10. I like that it came with large shrimps and crushed peanuts on the side. Hubby really enjoyed the bbq chicken and fried rice. He gives it an 8/10. The catfish came deep fried with a side of red curry sauce. The batter was crispy but the fish hit the mark and was really bland without the curry sauce. This is a 5/10 for me, something I wouldn't order again. Overall a good choice that's nearby for me when craving Thai food. Total for three items came out to $51.

This place is to go only. No place to eat there. Food was ready in 15 minutes. It was hot, tasty and good. Ordered Chicken Ruby, short ribs and papaya salad. They all tasted good to me! I would go again. The poultry was really a Cornish hen stuffed with rice and other stuff and the whole thing was fried. It was good. We cut it up at home. It also came with a good scoop of tomato rice. Papaya shrimp salad was good. The short ribs were nicely marinated and deep fried. Tender inside and crispy outside. They have a large menu and I enjoyed my meal and I would go back. Fast, friendly and tasty food

a superb authentic thai restaurant near pacifica! this spot is informal, and its a small establishment located inside a nice shopping plaza with plenty parking. this is take out only i ordered their shrimp fried rice with side of grilled chicken and their shrimp pew sew ew: fr craving seafood. its quiet and nice inside, and staff was nice, with the one nice sir helping out with the menu selection shrimp fried rice w/ grilled chicken (8.8/10) delicious rice topped with large shrimp, tail on. grilled chicken needed more flavor, but it was perfectly cooked shrimp pew sew ew (8.3/10) thai noodles, seasoned w spices, tossed with shrimp. served very hot, consistent flavor

My favorite thing out of everything my team ordered was the pad Thai. I couldn't stop eating it. The mango sticky rice was good but I wish it had the coconut milk/ cream to pour on top.

Ask the Community - Thai Original BBQ

Is the new location open yet?

Confirmed - they are the ones who were on Gellert and they're open today

Have they found a new location? I know that whole strip mall is closing by the end of April. I hope they find a new location.

Fairmont Center by Hickey and Skyline in the plaza with Safeway, Rite Aid, and Dollar store. It will be around the corner from Starbucks. They replaced Sam's Kitchen

Do they have anything that is gluten free?

I don't think so. My sister's teacher went there, she just sat while others ate. But I don't have a definite answer. Sorry.

All the food upheld the 20 minute drive home. Chicken wings were delightfully stuffed and crispy. Entree were still warm and not too oily. I love that there is a bit of sear on the pad se ew noodles. The gal who rang me up was kind and speedy. They kept the thai tea cold until pick up which shows great customer service. There are plenty of places who leave your Togo drink on the counter until pick up and this place doesn't do that. Restaurant was practically empty and very clean. To-go portions are served in smaller black rectangular containers, which is much different than when they used to have the wider square white containers. I'm not sure if ownership changed hands because their menu had also changed and the previous specials aren't offered anymore. They have different specials now and they're not as good as before. As a small business, you would appreciate your customers whether they dine-in or order to-go. The lady I received the food from during pick up barely smiled and didn't express any sign of appreciation for choosing to order from their establishment. Especially in today's tipping culture where it's mainly based on service received, a smile and simple "thank you" goes a long way. There is never a line to wait and sit down here (at least I haven't seen one) so that might give you an idea of the restaurant's dine-in popularity. I would only order from here if we were really craving thai and too lazy to venture outside of Westborough area.

I might consider getting the fish on the side since the sauce made the breading a little soggy. The green curry chicken was very good as well. Broth could be a little thicker, but flavor and spice level were great. Not too soicy. The fried chicken over fried rice was pretty good, with a nice crunch to the chicken. It was pretty empty when we got there, so service was fast and cordial. All in all, it's one of the better Thai spots I've been too. I've actually been here a few times, but finally got a chance to review. One thing to point out, however, is sample tip calculation includes the sales tax. My husband ordered a Roast Duck Noodle Soup, our little one ordered Fried Chicken Over Fried Rice, I ordered the Massaman Curry with Chicken, and we ordered Fried Banana with Ice Cream to share. The Roast Duck Noodle Soup tasted delicious it was not too heavy on the lighter side not too salty and overall we all thought it tasted well. The star of the show was the dish our little one ordered the Fried Chicken Over Fried Rice everything about this dish married well with each other and tasted spectacular. The Massaman Curry with Chicken was ok it wasn't my family's favorite, the Roti and Cucumber Salad that it came with was ok Roti too crispy for me, Cucumber Salad was super small portion I was expecting a bigger portion and the Curry itself was a tad bit too salty for my liking...I find that it would have been nice if it was served over a bed of rice instead of with Roti. Also my Curry dish was full of chicken pieces and very little potato pieces...please please more potatoes next time. As for the dessert it was good can't go wrong with dessert. Also at one point one of our plates had a little dead gnat on it but the waitress was so attentive when I pointed it out to her she changed the plate setting right away, thank you!! Maybe when I come again next time I can get a different dish. Other than that the place is well kept small and tucked away from a busy street, I believe my family and I know of this restaurant because we passed by a few times while going to other neighboring stores and restaurant.

We found a spot on a side street a block away. This Thai/Laos eatery was dimly lit with a cozy atmosphere. When we arrived, only a few tables were occupied, so we were seated quickly. They have a variety on the menu: starters, salads, noodle soups, pan fried noodles, stir-fries, seafood, vegetarian, curries, fried rice, specials, sides, & desserts. *** O U R P I C K S *** CHAMPA WINGS ~ sweet & spicy, dry pepper fried chicken wings. The wings were quite small, but we got 10 flats. Tasty, but not too spicy. Comparable to the wings you'd get from San Tung or Korean fried chicken wings. 4/5 CHAMPA SAMPLER ~ Lao sausages, fried rice ball salad, & fried spring rolls. Tasty generous platter! It comes with vermicelli noodles and lots of fresh lettuce and herbs so you can make lettuce wraps. Spring rolls were crispy and delicious. I think this was the highlight of our meal. 5/5 LARP LAO STYLE (Duck) SALAD ~ prepared with mint, onions, fish paste, cilantro & Thai eggplants. Alone, the duck is pretty salty. But eating it with the provided lettuce and herbs balanced the flavors and cut the saltiness. Unique and bold flavors. 4/5 PAD THAI ~ thin rice noodles, tamarind, eggs, bean sprouts, and chicken. Flavor was on point, but the noodles were a bit wet and overcooked. 3.5/5 GINGER FISH ~ battered catfish, minced pork, ginger, onions, bell peppers, and mushroom. This tasted more like a Chinese dish. The fish were filet pieces deep fried with a batter covered in a brown sauce. This dish tasted ok, but nothing special. 3.5/5 A few dishes stood out like the Champa sampler and Larp Lao style duck salad. The Tom Kha soup was the highlight of the meal. It was rich, creamy, and full of flavor, with a nice balance of coconut, citrus, and herbs. It was so good that George is still finishing the leftovers today. Between the two of us, we got about four servings out of it, which felt like a great value. Unfortunately, the Pad See Ew was a letdown. The dish was greasy, lacked depth of flavor, and had very little beef. I ended up contacting customer support to request a partial refund because the portion of protein was so disappointing. For a dish like Pad See Ew, you expect tender slices of beef, chewy rice noodles, and a balanced savory and slightly sweet soy flavor with a bit of char from the wok, but this version fell short. Overall, the soup was excellent and worth ordering again, but the noodle dish did not meet expectations. I have heard good things about this place and hope this was just an off day.

To get the best optimal experience at Khao Tiew, please remember to put your name on the waitlist and to get there on time when your party is close in queue (if you're not there, you're square, no expectations since they have tons of people waiting). I came here on a Monday night with my friend and I put my name down on the waitlist around 5 pm on the yelp app (heads up you have to be one mile away to be applicable to put your name down). Since I have been here before I know the deal and expected the wait. We were seated around 6:40 pm but it was so worth it in our opinions. The shop itself has a good amount of tables with a nice retro Thai feel from its decor. The servers are very nice and friendly but also the food comes out super quick which is what I personally appreciate as well. Here are some highlights from our absolute feast that we demolished (no food was left behind or forgotten). * Nuer nam tok: The medium rare beef was chewy, had the right amount of spice, and paired well with the crunch of the herbs. The saltiness of the meat ate well with the fresh sides of lettuce and cucumbers. * Crispy shrooms with ground pork: The crispy mushrooms were my favorite last time and the version with ground pork was exceptional. The mushrooms had a nice light batter and the sauce coated your mouth with an umami punch. * Drunken noodles: I love the amount of shrimp and calamari they gave! The noodles itself were coated in a semi sweet sauce that had a delicious soy flavor. * Duck curry: WOW the most tender duck dish I ever had, no notes! * Kaya jam with coconut ice cream: Creamy, fluffy, and a great way to end a meal. We started with the papaya salad and didn't realize it was deep fried. It was still good but I personally would've preferred it fresh. The fried mushrooms were AMAZING - perfectly crispy and paired so well with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. For mains we ordered the khao soi with crispy fried chicken and it was hands down my favorite dish. The broth was so rich, flavorful, and comforting. We also got the sizzling soft shell crab which was solid but probably something I'd skip next time. The duck breast turmeric curry was my second favorite - the curry flavor was absolutely chef's kiss. To end the meal we got the dessert toast and it was the perfect finale. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, buttery, warm, and topped with the perfect scoop of ice cream.
