Truly excellent restaurant, and outstanding Thai dishes!
Ok, I vaguely remember the excellent food in Phuket, Thailand I had several years ago, and of course I have a few favourite Thai restaurants back in the United States. Although this is the only Thai restaurant I have tried in Glasgow, I was hooked the 1st time and I am now a regular whenever I come back to this wonderful City.
The service both before and during the Covid pandemic are wonderful. I brought several travelling guests with me this time around, and they universally agree that this should be added to our regular rotation.
I apologise for taking such lousy pictures that do not do the food Justice. Various members of our party had the tom yum seafood (sweet and sour) soup, and I had the tom kha Guy (chicken coconut milk soup).
The pad Thai was actually wrapped in a egg omelet-type "case." Most of our party had not seen it served that way back in the United States, so we obviously cannot say if this is "authentic" Thai or a unique style for this restaurant. (Insert Stupid American joke here). I had what other places would call chicken and cashew nuts, but the menu here called it spicy chicken and nuts. One person had a green curry, and two other folks ordered a spicy seafood dish whose name escapes me.
Everything tasted and smelled wonderful. We were a little surprised that the rice did not come with the entree itself, but had to be ordered as a side dish. They use jasmine rice for their steamed, coconut, and fried rice varieties while the sticky rice was a different type. The person who ordered the sticky rice was quite impressed, in the rest of us enjoyed our variety as well.
Music was subtly played in the background, sort of easy listening covers of everything from Radiohead to to 1980's Jefferson Starship and the Police to Bruno Mars. The first time I came, my wife and I enjoyed listening to the music trying to be the first one to guess the original song.
My dinner and soft drinks wild of costing around £33, a little more than I'm used to paying in thiso area. Of course, comparing the prices here to the8 local Wetherspoons does seem a bit unfair. All in all a consistently wonderful restaurant suitable for dates, social gatherings and takeaway (takeout for us Yanks).
I was surprised that 3 years after I first came to this restaurant, it had yet to have a yelp review.
Givetohis place a shot you will not be disappointed! read more
