I was in Finnieston and craving Thai food after possibly just slightly too much beer (don't judge me) and, having heard good things about BKK I thought it was about time I tried the place.
At first, I thought maybe it was closed. There was no one visible in the store. However, the door was open so I walked in and shouted hello and after a moment someone appeared. Odd, but fine. I tried to order a few different things but was told that they'd run out of them, which was a shame but I did get there quite late. So I gave up and just went for the crispy chicken wontons, Thai green chicken curry and a small jasmine rice.
The store is also a bit odd. There are a few chairs and tables so I suppose you could stay and eat if you wanted to but I don't think I've ever seen anyone do it. They have magazines scattered about to entertain you while you wait and there's even a piano. Perhaps if I had any musical skill I would have played, however, I wouldn't have played for long because my wait for food was just shy of ten minutes. Not bad at all, especially since it turned out to be delicious.
The wontons were crispy perfection, the rice was just the right amount of sticky and the curry was flavourful and surprisingly spicy. The complimentary prawn crackers weren't bad either. My partner (who had already had dinner, I wasn't being awful and just getting food without him) came to steal some of the wontons and curry and agreed that everything was good, so I guess we'll be ordering again soon. read more
