Came in here for lunch the other day because I wait try something different. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and seated. The server shared with me what they were famous for and gave me some great recommendations. I had the fried wontons for an appetizer. They were so good. They were crispy on the outside but full of chicken on the inside. My lunch entree was the shrine Pad Thai. All I can say is WOW!! Everything in this dish jumped out at you. From the flavorful noodles to the juicy shrimp, nothing disappointed from start to finish. This is definitely a go to on my list. I was sick and thought some Thai soup would be good for dinner. My husband made a pickup order for Tom Yum, Tom Kha, Pad Wonsen, and a Thai beef salad with two dressings on the side. (If you have ever had this dressing it is a burst of flavor!) My husband picked up the order and asked if the two dressings were in the bag. The girl said yes everything was in there because she bagged it up and checked. So my husband gets home and opens the "salad" and there basically is no salad, it's beef, cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes drowning in the dressing. There wasn't any lettuce and everything in the container was soggy!! My husband called and addressed the issue, they said they would make him another one or refund him BUT he had to bring the "salad" back. As much as an inconvenience this was, we were less than 10 minutes away so we took it back. When we got there my husband said there were other unhappy customers inside complaining about their meals/experience as well. They remade his salad and gave him some Eggrolls for his inconvenience. We get home with the new salad and it's someone else's dinner!!!!!! Someone is missing their fried rice and beef stir fry with carrots, broccoli, and cabbage!!! At this point I'm aggravated and ready to eat my other food that has been getting cold. My husband said he wasn't calling or going back again a third time. I have decided to pity this place and give them 3 stars rather than the 2 I feel that they deserve, mostly because they were quite busy and apparently had a lot of online orders. We arrive at 5:30 on a Tuesday. At the time of being seated, less than half of the tables were full. There was only one waitress for the entire restaurant, and despite the restaurant being mostly empty when we sat down, she took at least 10 minutes to bring us our drinks (which she got wrong the first time around). As an appetizer, we ordered the special Takoyaki which was squid stuffed balls of rice. We did not finish these on account of they were bad. It took at least 20 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering, and my partner's father was served his food well before my partner and I were given ours. My partner ordered the Bangkok Chicken which was decent, and I ordered the Chicken Lomein which was not great. In my whole entire dish, there were 2 tiny pieces of broccoli and there were not any other vegetables, which was disappointing. Also - not necessarily her fault, but since the kitchen was so behind and the one waitress was covering the whole restaurant, they had someone from the back running food and drinks out to tables and it was very clearly her first time doing this. She got drinks wrong multiple times, handed us a to-go box that was leftover from the dirty table behind us, and all around was just clearly not trained to be waitressing. We love this place. We eat here regularly. We have been coming here for years and we don't intend on stopping. We have never had an issue with food or service. Everything has always been great. Really quite disappointed with thai chef lately I think that it's the service. I feel I'm being waited on by staff that's used to doing beach and bar service. This is Thai cuisine. You at least have to know how to pronounce the names of the dishes and you have to know what ingredients are in them. We came to this place today because I wanted to eat Thai food in Panama City so I ordered calamari for appetizer, shrimps Pad Thai and my husband ordered pork loin mien for lunch. There were more fried onion rings than calamari in the appetizer and my husband thought they gave us onion rings instead of calamari. Need more sauce on the Pad Thai, the shrimps tasted pretty bad and there is only 3 pieces of bean sprouts. I had to pay for more bean sprouts which I never heard that before. My husband hated his lo mien and it really smelled so bad. And tasted pretty plane. The only good thing in here was the cheerful white waiter. We did a takeout on a weekend and the good news is that our food was ready for pickup in 15 minutes! It was our first time trying this place and we ordered their Panang curry and Massaman curry. What I liked was that both curries tasted very good and the Massaman curry had the right amount of kick to it. It was nice and spicy. What I didn't like was that as compared to other Thai restaurants in the area, their food portions were much smaller. The curries were not enough and they could be more generous with their food quantity. When I ordered from their competitors in the area, they gave me double the amount of curry and used bigger containers. The quality of the food is the same so you are tempted to go with another Thai place for the same price. Talking about price, it was $30 for two curries and a side of spring roll. Their prices are pretty much the same as compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. Here is what I ordered, Papaya Salad, Basil Fried Rice, Drunken Noodles and Crying Tiger. I am Thai American, and understand that every chef has a different style of cooking. The papaya salad had FROZEN green beans in it and no flavor. The fried rice and noodles had some good flavor once hot pepper was involved. But the worst was the Crying Tiger, the Nam Jim Jew was old in flavor due to the low quality fish sauce. As stated there was two items that was pretty good but the service was terrible. Got there ordered Papaya salad leavel 3, Beef salad leavel 2, crabrangoon, Pad Thai no bean sprouts leavel Thai hot...passed 4..got Pad Thai ABSOLUTELY NO SPICE WHATSOEVER!!!..gave chili flakes for heat... the Papaya salad had more heat..but green beans? We went to Thai Chef on a Tuesday and were immediately greeted at the door when we walked in. We were seated in a booth and ordered some apps and entrees. The service was excellent and our food came out SO fast. Everything was tasty, especially the steamed dumpling appetizer. The wonton soup was also very good according to my boyfriend, but heads up the wontons are fried! I had ordered it not knowing it was fried (menu didn't specify), so I'm taking his word for it. Our entrees were also good - generous portions and you can select your level of spiciness. He got a 3, I got a 2. I should've gone 3 because there really wasn't much spice at all - I just played it very safe! Overall, I'm glad we tried Thai Chef. It is too bad I have to give them a unfavorable review. I bought over $45 worth of food from them and I requested extra peanut sauce, which is typical for a thai restaurant. Unfortunately, not sure if they had new people or just un trained people but they charged me $3.00 for peanut sauce that was literally heated up peanut butter. Not thai peanut sauce just melted peanut butter. I wasted my money on that and it was frustrating because the same peanut butter was put into the container with the spring rolls too. Please train your servers on how to make your sauces and if you were out just let the customer know so they do not pay extra money for pure peanut butter. read more

This is the second time I've ordered Thai Chef for delivery and both times the food has been absolutely phenomenal! I specifically have had the Thai Red Curry Chicken and the Pad Thai. If you are looking for fried shrimp, don't order the shrimp tempura as it only comes with 3 small fried shrimp and a bunch of fried vegetables. If we wanted fried vegetables we would've ordered the one below on the menu which is, in fact, fried vegetables. When I called the restaurant to ask what happened she told me "that's how we've always made it". I ordered a side of fried rice and was given an 8oz cup with gummy, overcooked rice with scorched eggs in it for $5.99. Love this place! It's truly authentic, and the food is to die for! My favorite was the Grouper Curry; however, if you're not used to eating extremely spicy foods, I would NOT recommend ordering at a level five. I ordered my Grouper Curry at a level 2, and it was just the right amount of spiciness. My husband, however..... Normally, when you walk into any Thai restaurant in the States you expect a level five to be moderately spicy; but, walk into an authentic Thia restaurant, and the level five will leave your nose runny among other things. We just ate at my Thai for the second time in the past month. Both times we have visited on a Friday night. I would suggest reservations if you're with a large party, as this seems to be a popular place. It's not surprising that it's gaining popularity, as the ambiance, food, and service are all great! So far we've ordered the Phad Thai with Chicken, Phad Thai with Pork, Green Curry with Eggplant & Chicken, Phad Basil, and Calamari as entrées. None have been disappointments. In fact, all have been fantastic! While you wait for your entrée to be prepared you will be served a small cabbage salad in a ginger dressing. This salad is delicious! Even my 2 1/2 year old loves it, never leaving a single piece of cabbage in his bowl! We had a party of 10 tonight and forgot to ask the waiter to split the bill when we placed our orders. He graciously split it at the end of the meal. This was no easy task, as they do not use computers to create their bills. He had to get out a calculator and recalculate each bill. We told him he didn't have to, but he did it anyway! Fantastic service! I feel badly that I do not recall his name... Oh, they have two types of ice cream: Mango and Coconut. Both are so yummy!
