Noodle soup (close to boat noodle but it's just beef noodle soup).
    Jane A.

DELICIOUS SOUP BUT THATS ALL (3.25 stars) It's definitely NOT the "Wat Mongkolratanaram" in the Bay Area nor the "Wat Thai Temple" in LA. My expectations were a bit high when I came to this temple but then realize Escondido cannot compare to the other two cities. And for what it is, it was an experience. NOODLE SOUP - the soup station had a different soup I wasn't accustomed to and asked for boat noodle soup. They didnt have that and offered me regular noodle soup with beef. This is close in flavor to boat noodle soup but not quite. It was still delicious, rice noodles, a sweet and savory beef broth, garnished with bean sprouts, green onion, fried garlic, and cilantro. You can request to add other things but I like mine basic and simple. If you haven't been to these "temples" that serve food on Sundays... it's not those glamorous temples in Bangkok. It's super tiny and probably the smallest neighborhood Buddhist Thai temple I've been too. And this places food offerings was very minimal (one soup station, drink station serving water and thai ice tea, station of papaya salad, rice and BBQ chicken, and a table selling mango sticky rice and homemade goods and vegetables - not much when it comes to food). All donations made from the soup and drinks will benefit the temple. Everybody speaks Thai and everybody was speaking thai to me even though I had no idea what they said... I just respond with "noodle soup?! I'd like noodle soup." Although there wasn't much to order, what I do appreciate that whatever you order it's super authentic and for that 15 minutes of enjoying my soup I oddly feel like I'm in Thailand. 1. In the cuts of an old Escondido neighborhood next to a Christian Church 2. Street parking; the neighborhood people look racist and one gave me a dirty look as I walked to the temple 3. Price to portion is very fair 4. Although we cannot understand each other, they Thai ladies are extremely nice and welcoming I wouldn't take the drive from SD for a bowl of soup but would come back if ever in the area. Key words: if ever. Until the next review...

Delicious Thai boat noodle soup made with love by an old Thai lady!

Thank you Thai "grandmas" for making us yummy food. Everyone is chill and friendly here. We're always happy to come here on Sundays for lunch for delicious, authentic thai food for a very affordable amount of donations going to the temple. I tell you, the best food is always prepared by "grandmas".... Better than food in a Michelin star restaurant prepared by a French chef who charges me $200/head. I'm just a sucker for grandma's food. There's a place in my heart for food made by an old lady. I know it's weird. Maybe it's from my childhood memories or something. They're not really my grandmas but that's how I call most friendly old ladies who can be my grandma. Thank you for all the hard work to fill up our tummies!!! And love your grandmas, and grandpas too.

Thai beef noodle! Best in town.

Ask the Community - Thai Buddhist Temple

I want to visit this Thai temple with my best Thai friend named Belle Nuntita, the famous Thai singer from Thailand. We would like to know when is the best time to come so that we can join in the festivities and eat authentic Thai street food?

Recommend going on Sundays. Wat Buddha Jakramongkol Ratanaram is a real working and evangelical community temple. It's not really a tourist destination like Thai Temple LA, although sometimes a bus of Thai tourists visit from LA. The temple has good… Read more

Is anyone welcome to go see and learn?

There's a beautiful koi pond with some fish as big as 2 feet long. They did a great job putting up all the new year decorations, and it was very festive! The temple is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, and the neighbors were kind enough to offer parking in front of their house. The monk and some of the regulars there were incredibly nice and welcoming. They had free vegetarian food served buffet style, as well as hot tea and coffee. It's nice to know there's a friendly temple that's not too far away. I look forward to visiting again.

Came here on a Sunday at 11:30am for a 49 day death anniversary. You can just ask the people who…read moreworship here about organizing that. The main room fit about 50 people. It's just like the size of a living room. So if you've got a large family or friends, I would probably go to another temple. They provide little cushions to sit on that look super comfy and the typical tables that look like chairs to put the Buddhist prayer books on top so you can read from while you're sitting on the ground. But they also provide chairs to sit on if you want to sit around the edges. The only downside is that parking here is pretty bad. It's just like a normal home but they configure it so that it's like a temple. Luckily my dad had a friend who lived across the street so we could park in his driveway. Every Sunday they sell vegetarian food. You can get a salad for $5. But the box is pretty small. They also sell a little case of seaweed. If you want a large quantity of food, you need to call ahead so they can make the food. Many people order food from online from this place. On this very day the head monk said that they were making 300 bowls of ramen!! That's a lot!! For lunch, we all got one plate of food with salad, 3 fried chips, and one banana wrapped thing. And a bowl of ramen which included some veggie meat, some veggies, a big mushroom, and half a boiled egg that was made in some way that wasn't directly from a chicken. The ramen brother was made by the head monk himself. He urged everyone to make sure to drink it all because he made it from vegetables and herbs he got. Next month they're going to extend the eating area so that it reaches all the way to the end of the backyard. Also in May, they have an event for Mother's Day at 10:30am so be sure to come by! 5 stars because you can't really judge a small temple like this who's just doing the best they can. The fact that they're even running this temple in a house is amazing itself.

This place is so nice!!…read more It was my family and I's first timing coming here and it's super easy to drive to. If you're confused about where it's at, just keep doing down the road until you see the Buddhist flag and keep going up until you see the large parking spot on the right. Parking concerns? None at all! It's very large. It's very spacious here. Like said it was our first time and we were treated very warmly. They asked us to stay and eat for lunch but we said no but they kept nicely asking so we ended up staying to eat for a little. And wow! Was lunch so good! The plates were sooo big too. They were even nice to give us soup too when they said they were low on it. Thank you!

Anyone can come and pray, i always go near the kitchen and greet the monks there before praying and somehow you'll meet Ni Co Khanh she's very welcoming and generous, she'll inform you and help with any question and guide you. Some of them didn't speak english but Ni Co Khanh mostly there and would be happy to help you out. People are very welcoming and kind. Even though the language barrier but you can understand :) Anyone can come and pray anytime it's open for everyone but i would preferably to stop by near the kitchen or someone to greet first before i go inside to pray. This place need more recognizable!
