They closed 20 minutes before the sign on the door. There was no notice on the door alerting customers of early closing. I would have liked the courtesy of being warned of early closure when I called 25 minutes before to ask for the location! Then when i called to see if someone was actually in the store just PREPARING to close because of the bad weather, the answering machine stated the new hours were even later than the sign on the door! I just left a message to ask for a simple explanation but never received one. I will keep my money elsewhere where i can at least get better customer service! Decent little shop in a great location right at the entrance of Troy Sports Center. I find their…read moreselection to be very useful if you are in a pinch or need a small part, accessory, tape, or a sharpening. Their sticks are moderately priced and they have larger selection than most rink shops IMO. Equipment wise, I would order it online. Speaking of skate sharpening, I try to avoid their service unless I absolutely positively need my skates taken care of. They never seem to have a consistent "skate tech" there except for one older gentleman. If you get him, you are in the green...however, if you get anyone else I would be concerned. I have asked for different cuts (sharper or duller) and have gotten a variety of different results. Furthermore, I'll end up with one skate sharper than the other or a great inside edge but literally no outside edge. Skate sharpening, although simple in concept, is an art IMO. You want the guy who has been doing this for 10+ years working on your skates because they will be consistent all the time (at least from my experience). What makes my situation even more complicated is I have goalie skates which have a longer, flatter blade and seem to be more of a hassle to do. I strictly go to Peranis or the skate shop at Birmingham Ice Arena, as they have some great seasoned people. Staff wise, I've for the most part found everyone to be helpful and pleasant/welcoming. Everyone I've had assist me has been eager to assist. With how many hockey players & parents that routinely come through the rink each week, they would be very negligent to not to take care of their customers as they are easy repeats.

I ordered 3 custom wedges from Carl's Golfland with clearly listed specs in the notes. I even…read moreordered them knowing they were on backorder, so I was already being patient. What I didn't expect was having to follow up just to let them know the clubs came wrong. Their fix? Send me two more wedges... still wrong. From there it turned into a complete mess. THREE different employees got involved, and somehow each handoff made things worse. One reorders, another takes over with zero context, clearly never read the emails or documentation I already sent, and just keeps things moving knowing the clubs were already wrong. No communication, no ownership--just a cycle of confusion. Then they tell me to measure the clubs myself. That's where it really went downhill. I'm paying for custom-built clubs, and now I'm doing their quality control? So I did. I confirmed specs with TaylorMade and even paid a shop to measure everything. Taylor made even said they ordered them wrong. Specs should be true online even if it's a custom standard stock spec. While they said they talked with them. Not a single club was correct. After all that, the manager's solution is basically: send them back. No urgency. No accountability. No real apology. They tell me on the phone they have good customer relationship with TaylorMade. So what was hard to get it right the second time around. Here's what their mistake cost me: * 2 months of credit card interest * Gas running around fixing quality control their problem * Paying out of pocket to verify specs * Hours of wasted time I ordered these ahead of an international trip so I could practice. Now I have no time left and nothing usable because they couldn't get a basic order right. Meanwhile, I placed a similar order through PGA Tour Superstore--they got it right the first time and shipped fast. That's how it's supposed to work. So I can't blame TaylorMade because seems like they are doing their job right. If they get the order right with pga superstore and shipped it to me from their manufacturing facility. Seems like they're not the problem. And just to top it off--I also ordered an iron set from Carl's a while back. At this point, I'll probably have to get those checked too, because based on this experience, I wouldn't be surprised if they messed that up as well. Bottom line: If you're ordering anything custom, avoid Carl's Golfland. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. Not worth talking to people who can't even do their job ordering without cross referencing manufacture specs. Like McDonald's gets my order partially correct. Not completely wrong. But still have the time to take care of customer's complaint. So who knows when my refund will be issued with compensation. This company just another company willing to take peoples money. We all know golf profit margins around 20-40%. I would never walk in there store or facility. Or even buy online from them again.
