Brunette sales lady was super nice but the blonde lady was nothing less than aggressive border lining nasty. I am African American. My purchase was $650. I didn't try to get anything free and wasn't asking for anything but an adjustment. She literally butted in to the conversation with the brunette and I just to let me know that I had "messed with the bike". I guess she forgot it belonged to me once I paid for it. This was my second and last bike purchase. At those prices, kindness goes a long way. Hope they get her colorism in check soon. Sad in this day and age she's so angry about NOTHING and subjects the customers to her sadness. Poor girl read more

I have been going to Bikes Blades & Boards for many years now and so has my wife. I just made a purchase on a pair of hockey skates (note: all my pass skates have been used and I could never bring myself to spend the money for a new pair). I decided to treat myself to a good pair and went to BB&B. Brian the owner and his staff taught me so much about the skates and my feet..... yes I said my feet. Their conversation with the sale was not scripted; and was actually fun. I can't believe how nice it is to have my own skates. I will go back for my next pair.... I was on a quest to find bikes for my 7 and 10 year old in what I was told here the most popular and hard to find sizes. They had a refurbished bike at a solid price and then I found a bike that needed a little TLC for the younger one. B3 did an amazing job tuning up the both bikes for a really reasonable price. They also did a really great job fitting the boys with bike helmets, too. Although they were super busy, I didn't feel like I was rushed or that any of my questions were too stupid to answer. When I asked my daughter what she wanted, I let her know that I wasn't going to pay $500 plus for a kids bike. I gave her the choice of "new but cheap" or "used but high quality." Without hesitation she told me she wanted used but high quality. Smart kid. She is in that weird "tween" size, and after checking online I was becoming pretty frustrated that every bike I looked at online, new or used, was unavailable from every website. I checked FB market place repeatedly and there were none in the correct size. I went into B3 looking for a new or used mid-priced model and was informed there is a bike shortage. They were getting very few new bikes in, and the prices were just going up. The guy took my phone number though, after I told him what I was looking for. I went to a couple other shops and was told the same thing. I also looked at Dicks. They had nothing in stock that would fit, and most that they had cost $475, which to me is pretty high for a big box brand. Leaving Dicks, and the guy from B3 called and told me he had a pre-owned bike in the back that had just come in. We went to look at it. It was a nice, quality bike, great brand, good color. Price seemed high to me for a used bike, but was inline with what online bike shops were charging for similar used bikes. FB Market Place would've been cheaper, but this one came all tuned up and running well with tubes replaced, and I was guaranteed correct sizing since I was buying from someone who knew what they were talking about. Got it home and rode around on it. (A little small for me, but everything was very smooth. Shifted like butter.) I gave it a good detail cleaning and it shines like new, and much of what I thought was "normal wear and tear" came right off. The only piece of constructive criticism I would give B3 is maybe they could detail clean their used models prior to selling. There were minor things that made bike look worse than it was that made me feel insecure about the purchase. There was paint on the seat. It came off with a little scrubbing and now the seat looks pristine. A very minor amount of surface rust on exposed breaklines that came right off with steel wool, and some dirt that could've been wear and tear, but wasn't. Not a big deal and easy to fix, but initially, it would have made me feel more confident with my purchase. The bike looks great now, and I think my daughter will be thrilled to receive it. I went in to B3 to have a bent Huffy wheel examined for potential repair. B3 was the sixth shop I visited that week and all other metro-Detroit shops I visited informed me that my ten year old wheel was beyond repair and directed me to their new wheel section to select a $50-$70 dollar replacement. At B3, a kind gentleman greeted me and looked over my wheel and said, "lets go take a look" and didn't even mention that it could be beyond repair. He ran through all of my options and asked me to give him fifteen minutes for a "truing". He came out fifteen minutes later and presented me with a repaired wheel and a charge of 14 bucks and change. A guy on a budget found a business with repairmen of integrity and skill that day. I also noticed that all of the other employees were courteous and accommodating to the other customers in the shop. All being said, this meant a lot to me as we find ourselves in world increasingly bent under the motive of greed and void of compassion. I highly recommend B3! read more

I bought an Aventon Level to commute back and forth to work. After just 2 weeks I had to bring the bike back in for repairs due to an electrical failure and a faulty shift button. BUT, I am very pleased with the bike overall and I am more pleased with the outstanding service provided by the staff. Who, with no questions asked took the bike back in for service and are currently making the proper repairs. The electrical failure is the fault of the manufacture not the bike shop. I highly recommend Bikes Blades and Boards to anyone in the Detroit area. I also highly recommend the Aventon Level. Great bike and with a few minor adjustments I will be back on the road in no time. read more

Hi folks, I bought a bike from a shop in 2010 and had been having disc brake squeaking problems since day five of owning the bike. I took it back to the store I bought it at twice and they made some adjustments, however the bike began to shriek again a week later every time I applied pressure to the lever. Since 2012 I have only been able to ride the bike part-time as I live in Europe. Every year when I am in Detroit I'd ride the bike and would have to deal with an increasingly crappy brake situation. I have had the bike into three other shops since then including 2 American Cycle locations plus my LBS in Eastpointe and nobody had been able to properly ease my brake-squealing anxiety. I threatened to take the damn hydraulic brakes and put on standard brakes but found out this would be impossible because of the mounts. This year came around and the brakes were so napper-waking loud that I decided it was time to sell the bike (which I like very much) and buy something cheaper with standard brakes that I wouldn't have to deal with every year in a two-week window when I return to visit. As a last resort I took the bike up to B3 because I had a friend that used to work there and I told the staff my plight, all while at the same time scoping out their inventory, just in case they gave me a report I didn't want to hear. Both the guy out front and the guy in the shop listened to my plea and told me they would do what is necessary to make the brakes howl-free. When I returned a couple of days later they had replaced the pads and rotors as agreed upon a then told me the kicker: they had to machine the brake mount. Something was uneven from the factory. This was the first bike shop in our history to take the time to figure out that there was an inherent flaw on the bike. No wonder the problem wasn't fixable by cleaning and adjusting the pads. I applaud B3 for nailing the problem. The bike has been a dream to ride since the repair. They managed to get this knocked out for me in just a couple of days and the manager reassured me that if there were any other issues with the brakes I could bring the bike in and they'd figure it out for me. Thanks again you guys. My next bike purchase will be at your shop. I'm super-happy with the professional service and I only wish you could travel overseas to take care of my European bikes. This bike shop does house calls!!!! AMAZING! What a service for a spin bike we bought used that needed a bit of a tune-up. I drove by this place for YEARS. But never thought to step in until I needed a bike lock today. From now on for bike related stuff I only go this place. For a relatively small place they sure do have a lot of stuff and plenty of room to move around. They staff is very friendly. I got a quality bike lock for only 30 dollars and guy at the cash register was very personable and he even offered to set the lock for me. I thought it was very cool that they even had a dog in the place just chilling out. I very much intend to do business with them again. read more

Highly recommend this store to anyone! They have an amazing selection like Cannondale, Giant, specialized and more. Extremely helpful and willing to help you regardless of how much you are going to spend. You will rarely go in this store without getting greeted the second you walk through the door. Not only do they know how to sell you the right bike, but they can sell you the right part too. And you can walk out of there knowing you have the right part.
