Shopping for a much needed new bike post-pandemic was difficult. Slim pickings and still a seller's…read moremarket. After 4 other shops, I ended up far from my home to try out a Specialized Sirrus X 3. It was the right bike for me. If you know what you want, this is the place. If you aren't sure what you want, this is the place. They had it in stock. I was unsure of a medium vs. large frame - of which they had both in stock! This is where Lance got involved. As a trained fit specialist, he confirmed my preference for a medium made sense. Great bike. Great service. But then- 100 miles later, I had an issue due to a manufacturing defect. Long story short, Lance expedited the warranty process and helped me out with a rapid repair. I'm not here to review the bike but I want to add that the issue I experienced is rare and both the manufacturer and the retailer did what needed to be done to give me full confidence moving forward. I tried a lot of bikes. This is a quality brand and Town and Country has a full selection in stock. They are located in a nice strip of town within walking distance of an array of other retail shops. A nice area to visit.

I have wanted an Electra Cruiser for years, which led me here since it was one of a few bike shops…read morethat carry Electra bikes near me. I've been to several bike shops before, and this is one of my favorites. I never felt pressured to buy anything, and their associates here are KNOWLEDGEABLE. They really know their shit. They don't try to make you buy anything, but rather give their honest opinions. When I was waiting for my bike the other day, I heard them talk someone OUT of buying something and they explained why they didn't think it'd be best for them. If you ask, they'll install anything you buy there on your bike and they haven't charged me for any of it. They'll install bike racks on your car if you want. I've called and asked for prices on a grocery list of things, and I never felt rushed or like I was inconveniencing them. I bought some pannier bags and took them home and I didn't like they way they fit my bike, so I returned them for a full refund - no hassle at all. I brought back a bike mirror that I didn't think worked well on my bike. They offered a full refund but also asked for a chance to help me first - not sure what I was doing wrong when I did it myself, but they positioned it in a way that made it work perfectly fine. I've mostly worked with Travis who is awesome, but others I've worked with are really awesome too (there's a guy there I've worked with a couple times who wears a hat with a bandana face mask [this is during COVID outbreak] and he's really great, but I haven't caught his name). The staff at Town and Country KNOW bikes and they're not simply in it for a commission. I liked my first bike and experience here so much that I bought a second one for my wife and was happy I was able to purchase it here. If you're looking for a new bike and are interested in any of the brands they carry, definitely check them out.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…read more.. Perani's helped my husband a great deal by adjusting the pitch on his skates and pushing him more onto his toes. This has improved his speed, and reduced his back pain while skating/playing hockey. It is a much cheaper and much more practical alternative to inserts. Unfortunately, whoever got ahold of my skates had no clue what they were doing. I have the good ole CCM V08's with rocket runner blades. Rocket runners were short lived, but instead of swapping out my blade and chassis to the tune of $150, I live with them because overall, I think it's a pretty nice blade and my skates are incredibly light. Anyway, I (or my husband) always ask if the sharpener knows what they're doing because you can't just throw the skate in a normal 3mm jig and go to town. The guy here assured the hubs that he knew what he was doing, then threw the skate in the jig and went to town. Because you can do this with goalie jigs (sometimes), we thought maybe it would be ok. Wrong! I hit the ice for an open skate and something felt horribly wrong. My left foot shimmied, and I felt like I had no control over my feet. I have played hockey for 15 years. I know what a bad sharpening feels like because this wasn't the first time it happened. I thought maybe if I beat on them a bit to dull the blades up it would get better. Wrong again! I could use my right blade okay, but it wasn't the same. When I tried to stop on my left blade (going the speed of a small child who can't skate), I caught an edge, flew through the air, and landed on my wrist. Luckily Botsford ER was just down the street (review on this to come next) and I found out that I did not have a break, just a bad sprain. I brought my skates in somewhere else the next day to get them fixed and (after interviewing the guy on how to sharpen Rocket Runners and being satisfied that he knew what to do) I was advised that my right blade was "usable" and my left blade was mangled. Since my blades have limited sharpenings in them due to their slim nature, the guy said to take enough off to fix it, it would basically be losing 4-5 sharpenings. Neat! Moral of the story- if you have a unique blade on your skate, bring in a questionnaire before handing them over to the sharpeners at Peranis. But, if you need a new pitch, you should be good to go.

The new website is brutally slow. I'm in the market for new skates and had every intention of…read morebuying from Perani's. Since it has changed hands I figured I'd still shop there but found the website unusable. Too bad.

The first snowstorm of the year happened a few days ago…read more My husband and i decided to visit Kensington Park. We arrived there expecting that there will be sleds, snowboards or skies available for rent. Unfortunately, there was no company around to offer snow equipment for rent on site. Searched on Yelp and found several sports shops and snow resorts that offer equipment for rent. Looking at the rent per day which is $39 per set, we decided to buy used equipment at Play It Again Sports. As we entered the store, there was already a line of parents and their kids at the register. Despite the short commotion, we were greeted by a big and tall caucasian guy. Originally thought he was the only one who worked there. Turns out there were other guys standing on the other side of the store that completely ignored us. A good suggestion for this store is for the employees to have at least a uniform or a nameplate to identify them as an employee. After finishing the last customer, the tall guy came towards and toured us around the store. He answered our return policy inquiry which convinced us into buying the equipment with no hesitation. 14 days return and refund if we are not fully satisfied. He enrolled us in the rewards program to track our order history and easy return. Great service! Speaking of equipment, this location had a lot of options for new and used skies and snowboarding equipment, for as low $20 for the shoes, and $12 poles. The lowest i could find for the snowboard with bindings was around $120. The burton shoes that is brand new was a steal for $80 compared to the online price of $180, minus the box ;-) We saw used frisbees, equipment and apparel for hockey, ice skating, golf and other types of sports. We kinda feel old to start a new hobby at a cost, so this store was the ideal place for us to get second-hand equipment. Will be back for my husband's snowboard and shoes ;-)
