For some reason my review wasn't on so I added it again.
Overpriced, bad service, bad attitude, and they charged me four times for one item.
This is the most unfriendly and least service-oriented establishment I've visited in a long time.
On my first visit, I came to the store to purchase a cigar. Unlike other places, you're not allowed to access the cigars without the attendant who has a key. The attendant (and also I believe, the owner) was helping another customer, but had unlocked one of the cabinets. She left it unlocked and walked over to another cabinet to continue helping the customer so I leaned in to pick up a cigar (wrapped in cellophane). I was immediately and rudely reprimanded by this woman who says, "I told you I'd help you in a minute sir!" God forbid I try to look at some cigars in an unlocked cabinet. I told her I'd take my business elsewhere.
However, this location being near where I live, I decided to take a second shot on a recent Saturday afternoon. I walked into the store which was empty except for the male attendant who in polite conversation established he was the owner's brother (This is how I discovered my previous negative experience was with the actual owner). I picked an overpriced Romeo y Julieta cigar for 7.99 which came to near 9 dollars including tax. He explained that he would make an exception for me but that his sister, the owner, had a policy against accepting cards for any purchase under ten dollars.
He then charged my credit card three times (I later found out) and did so because the machine had run out fo paper to print a receipt. Finally, he replaced the paper, and charged my debit card a 4th time (I've now disputed the additional charges). A slight inconvenience.
I came back a few hours later because I so enjoyed the cigar I had purchased to pick up another. When I saw him, he greeted me, I got the cigar at which point he told me I couldn't use a card for less than ten dollars. He explained his sister had come in and yelled at him. I told him to just charge me ten dollars since I was in a hurry. He said no. He then said, just grab that 2.99 lighter and you can have something additional. When he, without my consent, rang up both the cigar AND lighter, my total was 11.25. I said, no I just want you to charge ten dollars. He told me it was too late, he couldn't back out the charge out of the register!
Now, he hadn't yet charged my card, he had simply input the information in the cash register. I told him to back it all out at which point he threatened to call the police. I couldn't believe that I, a paying customer, was being threatened and bullied. I let him charge the card and left.
I will never return to this overpriced cigar store with ridiculously lousy service. read more
