Unfortunately, that was not my experience. The program mainly focused on preparing us to pass the EPA 608 exam, which I did earn (Universal certification). However, beyond that, I feel like I did not gain the real-world knowledge or industry preparation needed to actually get hired. We were not properly trained on job readiness, interview skills, or what employers are truly looking for in entry-level or apprentice HVAC positions. One of the biggest disappointments was the lack of job placement support. We were told that we would have jobs lined up by the time we completed the entry-level program, but that did not happen. Once the program was completed, we were essentially left on our own to find employment. There were no companies actively partnered with the program to offer apprenticeships, on-the-job training, or job placement opportunities. The instructor asked us to provide company names we were interested in working for so he could reach out on our behalf. I followed up and did my part, but nothing ever came from it. No communication, no referrals, and no opportunities. Since completing the program, I have attended multiple interviews for HVAC apprentice positions and explained that I completed the Midlands Technical College entry-level HVAC program and earned my EPA Universal certification. Despite this, I have not been hired, which shows how little the program actually prepares students to enter the field. Overall, I feel like I wasted my time enrolling in this program because it did not deliver what was promised. If the goal of the program is to help students break into the HVAC industry, then there needs to be far more emphasis on hands-on training, industry connections, job placement, and interview preparation. Job security and real opportunities should matter just as much as passing a test. I hope the school takes feedback like this seriously and makes improvements for future students.

After my family member discussed the problems with the owner, he wouldn't even come look at the unit. He wanted to charge a service fee at the minimum, whatever that means, to come look at a unit they installed the wrong way. Of course I said no since they had no interest in checking whether their employees were doing installions properly. These were supposed to be brand new units in a newly built home and installed about 3 yrs ago. A family member of mine who has a heating and air college degree and now several years on the job experience came out to see what was going on. I found out the equipment installed on the non working system was not compatible and should Not have been installed together. The electrical was basically jimmy rigged to work but wouldn't work long term and was causing a breakdown in its communication causing it to freeze up. They'll need to figure out why there's a vent pulling in fresh air from outside causing the system to run longer by having to heat or cool that air first. He's getting a business associates second opinion since it may be a pressurization issue. Those types of air vents are usually Not done on homes but only commercial buildings. So, now I have to run it with both thermostats running instead of just one until there's time to get the correct parts ordered and fixed. The reason I used this company was a builder recommendation and they were quite a bit less than who my family member worked for and at the time the estimates were received which was about 4+ years ago, my family member wasn't with their company very long and had little on the job experience. Also I didn't know either company so I went with the builder recommendation. Big mistake!!! I had a terrible builder in the end and all kinds of problems.
