My mistake - I immediately changed my name with the supporting documents and it was changed in a few days in the app. It wasn't until a few weeks later when I checked in, I realized my name never updated so I tried calling AA and they said it airline had to handle it. So the day of my flight, I visited DFW with my marriage license, old and new passports and a smile and I was greeted by Michelle at the AA counter who at first was welcoming, then her mood changed when I asked for help with my name change. She replied with a "why did you check in if it wasn't correct?" I thought ... because I want to still check in on time and I was told I needed to see a desk agent., which I politely told her and informed her that I had all supporting documents. She informed me that she may not be able to get my same seat or a seat at all since she had to un-check me in, and I said that was okay, I just want to make sure everything is correct and connected. She didn't reply much after that, but I still proceeded to be very kind. I ended up with the same seat, same boarding position and the flight was in no way full. I had no other trouble, but her demeanor was a little much for something that ended up taking her 3 minutes to fix. Oh well!

So far the experience hasn't been great today. We boarded our flight to China and had to disembark…read morebecause the engine wasn't working, leading the a/c to also malfunction. They are currently in the process of fixing the issue. Our flight was expected to leave at 10:40. We got stuck on the plane in the heat for 30 minutes. Now we are waiting for the issue to be fixed in order to embark once again. Tentatively the airline stated that we should be boarding now but we still are awaiting. The staff on our flight were all nice and accommodating. They were also very hot and obviously have nothing to do with the issue. Hopefully this problem is fixed as soon as possible. We have a wedding to get to so hopefully everything isn't delayed any further. On July 1st our flight got delayed an entire 24 hours. We were issued a $12 food voucher and a hotel voucher that was actually a motel with a foul odor. The shower was disgusting as well. We ended up booking a different hotel out of pocket. We were told that our flight was re-scheduled for 11:15 am for July 2nd and that there shouldn't be any more issues. We were also told on July 1st that we can go down to baggage claim if we wanted our luggage and that it would be available in 30 minutes to an hour. Once we got downstairs they said our luggage was not available for another 30 minutes to 5 hours. The staff at American Airlines baggage claim were extremely rude and dismissive. We never ended up getting our luggage because they did not have an actual estimate of how long it would take. Day 2 of our flight being delayed. We arrived at the airport and it seemed like things were looking up. We get to the gate and are awaiting for everyone to be able to board. As we're waiting we're told once again today that our flight will be delayed 45 minutes now because the plane is having the same issues with the a/c not functioning. They also stated that it was a different plane, how can a totally different plane have the same issue occurring. It does not make any sense. Now the airline is saying that the plane is out of service. They stated that the plane is coming from the hangar and it will take 30 minutes. Out of no where they say that we have to go from Gate D33 to Gate D65. Now they are saying that we have to wait 6 hours for our new flight with a new plane. So instead of our 24 hour delayed flight leaving at 11:15 am, we are now scheduled to leave at 6:00 pm according to the updates we have received. I am extremely disappointed and do not ever want to fly with American Airlines again. We are flying to China for a wedding and have had to cancel multiple reservations that were made in advance and it's also looking like we are not going to make the wedding. This is absurd and has affected all of us traveling emotionally and physically.

I used to be a SOuthwest fan, to be honest. My experiences had always been good. No complaints…read more That is, until three years ago when I paid for my mother and I to take different flights from our respective cities to meet up in Boston, so I could treat her to a visit with a sick cousin she hadn't seen in 40 years for her 75th birthday. Long story short... I have to use a folding cane when I travel and need chair assist for airport mobility. I have two major health issues which do not allow me to freely move about without becoming so exhausted I literally cannot function. Cancer treatments can be brutal. As I boarded the plane in Dallas, a man was sitting in the aisle seat of the very front row. I boarded first and was trying to put my carry on overhead when this man suddenly started griping that I hit him with my cane. I felt NOTHING. how I could have hit him and not even felt a bump, I will never understand. I apologized to him and continued getting settled in. He kept griping that I was careless and carrying on like I had murdered his mother. I don't know what was going on with him, but it was way bigger than my supposedly hitting him by accident with my aluminum cane, which was hanging on my wrist by an elastic string. After getting settled in, one seat between he and I, another man came and sat in the seat between us. I leaned in to him after he got all seated and told him, "I don't know what that fella's problem is, but he sure has an attitude. Watch out." I whicspered this to the man, so the other fellow with the fly in his ointment could not possibly have heard me. Just then, the man of whom I was speaking got up and walked to the front of the plane. Before too long, a couple of the airline employees approached me and asked me to leave the plane! I was dumbfounded! My 75 year old mother was due to meet me in Boston and these people want to gum up my travel arrangements? I literally said nothing. I just got up and disembarked. No complaining. No arguing. NOTHING. After getting off, I asked to speak to a manager. When she finally showed up, I asked her to please tell me what I had said or done that merrited my being taken off the plane. All she said was, "If our attendants feel you need to be removed, we remove you. Period." I insisted on a better, more thorough explanation. NONE was forthcoming. I wound up stuck in a hanger ofr hours, without food, being a sever diabetic who has serious issues when my sigar drops low, which is why when I travel I try to prepare for every possibility. I never in the world expected this to happen. Again, long story short, I wound up having to call my 75 year old mother on her borthday and tell her I was going to be several hours late as I had been removed from the plane, without explanation. What else could we do? Long story short (again), I have NEVER been back on a Southwest plabe since. I literally get hives just thinking about trying to use that airline. That experience was so tramatic that I STILL have nightmares about it and what could have happened. Not only am I a diabetic with leukemia, I am also a 40+ years in ministry ordained minister! That is why I gave them absolutely no issues when they asked me to get off the plane. I believe in trying to live Christ-like. I have a SOuthwest - Chase credit card and have accrued many, many, many travel points. I won't even use them to fly for free as I am terrified that I may be trying to go somewhere and I will once again, com pletely without cause or explanation, be removed from my flight. I STILL have no clue what was said that made these people do me as they did. I can only speculate. Honestly, and you have no idea how much I hate to say these words, I have to wonder if it wasn't race related? The man in question was black. So was every single Southwest employee I had dealt with. I have wondered over and over again if that man didn't falsely claim I used a racial epitath or something. Being married to a person of color, and having decades of ministry which has included preaching in as many churches of color as "white" churches, I am not even remotely inclined to that. Not even remotely. But that would be the only justifiable accusation I could think of for the treatment I received. I can't imagine any other reason. When my sugar drops I can get extremely irritable and easily angry and frustrated. I carry glucose tablets with me to try and prevent this from happening. I did have one issue years ago while taking a Southwest flight that involved me being in very bad spirits due to a hypoglycemic incident. I was travelling with my spouse at that time, so ultimately I was able to get access to food which resolves the blood sugar issue within about 30 minutes. I have wondered also if they didn't somehow blacklist me over that incident and therefore, any accusation would justify their doing what they did. To this day, I HAVE NO CLUE! I still cannot get the trauma of this event out of my head.

Addison is one of the busiest private airports in the country, and the 2nd busiest single runway airport in the country (Behind San Diego International) This means that you get to see a wide variety of aircraft taking off and landing all day. From Cessna 172s giving flight lessons, to big Lear Jets and GulfStream IVs whisking executives away. On the weekends you'll even see some warbirds from Jim Cavanaugh's collection taking off. Addison Airport has Cavanaugh's Museum, countless flight schools, and even a company to fly christmas light flights over Dallas and other romantic flights and tours. For those who love planespotting, there are countless spots to post up and watch planes. I won't give away my own personal favorite spot, you need to find your own! But Dooley Ln, where the Control Tower stands has some great views of the airport. And on weekends a lot of plane spotters like to park for amazing views of approaching and departing aircraft in the office park parking lot on Westgrove Rd. at the end of Runway 15 (The north side of the airport) Happy Plane Hunting.
