We stopped by Texas Wine Cellars to pick up some wine to enjoy in our airbnb when we were in Fredericksburg for a few nights a few weeks ago. The store is charming, the service was good, but I wish they had a greater selection of Texas Hill Country wines for sale. They definitely had some of the more common and available labels, but the selection isn't large and doesn't get very deep on the list of Hill Country winemakers. The shop that's connected to the popcorn factory, Big Pop's Popcorn, they share an entry space but separate them to two different rooms when you walk in. I went in here twice to get my peach Bellini and left. I got the tumbler since it seemed like the better deal and you could bring it back for refills, which is exactly what I ended up doing the next day. Those peach Bellinis are smooth and go down easy! They are also filling. I noticed after sucking almost a whole tumbler down I didn't have a lot of room left for dinner. The staff here were wearing masks due to Covid. Although like many places in Fredericksburg there were some staff members that were a little lazy with the mask. Wear your mask properly please. This was a fun stop in Fredericksburg. They had sixteen beers on tap, and you can buy them in a bunch of ways. Growlers in two sizes, pints for $5, a taste for a buck, or a flight of five plus a pint for $8. Just overall...Boring. Staff was nice, but in no way excited to serve you. Not very interactive and failed to make any recommendations. $1 for each small taste in a tiny plastic container. BONUS: They have Bellinis (yum), wine, and a few draft beers by the glass available to go....take with you and enjoy while strolling Main St if you like. They really encourage drinking in Fredericksburg. I'm sure it helps loosen up the wallets for all of the retail shops too. :-) read more

A super friendly not intimidating or pushy place to explore and try out some different beers and wines. I will definitely be back. The older gentleman overseeing the store the day I came in was great, very hospitable. Even though, I do think he might have been a bit perturbed with me for taking the last 3 Real Ale seasonal October Coffee Porters he had in stock (I was overwhelmed with joy as everywhere else has been out of stock now for a bit). They have a good selection of local Texan wines and beers. They also have a decent selection of imported beers as well. I LOVED that you could just pick up a recycled beer 6 pack and mix and match your own selection of beers - from imported to local Texan. Also, very cool bonus is that the store has some beer chilled and will open for you as the town allows you to just pop the cap off your drink and walk along the streets exploring enjoying your brew. read more

Came here with a group and noticed why all the crowds were here and saw they had a selection of beer, wine, and margaritas. Which they had a pretty good selection of Texas wines. The lady that was serving us was drinking while working with my group. She must have been a bit buzzed because she made a mistake on which wine I wanted to try. Wine tastings were a $1 which really isn't worth it. It's only a small little cup, not even a glass they gave us which I think was a rip off. I decided to order the sangria margarita with a tumbler and drink it while walking around Fredericksburg. It tasted pretty good but $15 sounds over priced. But I have been looking for a wine "sippy cup" to drink around so that made due for one plus it was cute to not buy. I probably would give this place another try if the employees were sober. We stopped in along our route of main street wine tastings, but opted against doing an actual tasting here. The tastings were $1 per tasting and they had so many choices that it seemed more appropriate to just buy a bottle of wine for $16 and leave it at that. They have frozen sangria, and offer to-go cups for you to take your beverage of choice with you while you walk along main street. The older gentleman behind the counter was nice and let me sample the strawberry wine before we bought our bottle. All in all it was a very cute little wine shop and the staff made the experience feel welcoming. It's getting 3 stars simply because it was just an average wine shop. Right when you walk in you feel welcome. They have free beer tastings, and you can even get a beer in a plastic cup that you can carry around Main St. with you! We did a beer tasting, and the lady pouring for us was so nice and friendly and genuine. This is how business should be done. Whenever I think about my experience here I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Great for a quick stop - got frozen sangria in the tumbler to go for $15. Refilled later in the day for $6 and I thought it was worth the cost to have two frozen drinks and take a tumbler home as a souvenir.
