Turns out the entire roof over the bathroom was uneven and improperly installed and needs to be replaced. Of course, the original roofer is AWOL and according to the seller, there's no warranty on the previous shoddy work. Despite this unique situation, Frank handled communicating with me (current homeowner) and the seller of the house who would be paying for the repair with incredible professionalism. Frank emailed detailed estimates promptly, answered my calls and texts at all hours of the day -- and sometimes night. When it came to do the work, he and one other worker did the work in half a day! Frank even sent me pictures of each step of the roofing progress so I know what's underneath those new shingles! They tracked down the specialty shingles to match the original roof exactly. The area JV Roofing Solutions replaced looks exactly like the rest of the original roof, which is the goal! More than that, Frank and team went above and beyond! It was a fair price - a little more than expected but within range, and it turned out to be very worth it. The gutters were full of silt/decomposed leaves and it was a hard job to get them entirely clean. The crew were knowledgeable, highly competent, and responsive to everything I said or wanted. This company and its employees take customer service to a new level of excellence by cultivating a good working relationship that will exist beyond the installation of the roof. Jim Phelps, our Moss Roofing Consultant, did the initial roof inspection for hailstorm damage. Then, he advocated for us on our insurance claim, working on our behalf and in person during the insurance company's inspection, to get the claim filed super-fast. And just like that, we had our installation date set up for a few weeks later. Jim was so helpful and knowledgeable every step of the way. He went above and beyond to answer my detailed questions and to address any concerns I had. He stopped by the house more than once to show us shingle samples, show us what algae does to roofs and explain different parts of the installation process. On installation day, the Moss Roofing crew started at 6 am to prep our windows and yard with protective materials and seamlessly worked until dark to install an impeccable new roof. They cleaned up everything perfectly, including using a magnet sweeper on our yard and our neighbor's yard to dispose of hidden nails. He also came by when the inspector came out to point out the issues he had seen. This was great service, and I appreciated that. Install day came, and they started working on the roof at 6AM in the morning (even though we were told work would not begin until 7 or 8). Obviously this woke everyone in the house up. The project manager came by about halfway through the job, and was there for only for about an hour and then left and was never seen again. This made communication very difficult. At the end of the day, the work crew left a lot of trash everywhere including a lot of nails on my driveway. But the roof looked fine overall. The reason for the 3 stars were a few issues, aside from what was written above: 1. They damaged and dented my gutters. James called a handyman to try and get it fixed, but they only made it worse because that was not their expertise. 2. They had installed one of the roof stacks incorrectly, and I had to call to get it corrected. 3. We had agreed to a certain price, and they backtracked on that a bit when it came time for payment. It wasn't much, but obviously was disappointing to deal with. Overall, there were some ups and some downs with the experience.
