I visited Texas thrift in Windcrest San Antonio area in Texas. I really enjoyed how everything was organized and clean. The discounts were amazing. The store is huge, so come with plenty of time so you can take a look at all of the sections. This is a thrift store you can access right off of IH-35 when you are coming in or out of San Antonio and that makes this store super convenient for anyone who wants to stop in and take a look around to see if you can find anything that catches your eye. The last time I was here (in June) the store was hot. The a/c was on but just for the back half of the store. I saw employees fanning theirselves down as they checked out the customers at the registers. Like any other thrift store it is hit or miss here for finding items. I recently found some vintage floral gallery art pieces from the 1990's for about $4 each. Dish ware, glassware, and items that may have a pair will be priced per each item so keep that in mind. I didn't see many sets sold together. There is so much clothing here and you will need to browse through all of it to find something great. I will say there are a lot of plus sizes or 2x and up sizing for women here. Not many thrift stores just north of here have plus sizes. The expensive items can be found in the front right before the registers. I saw some vinyl records behind the counter and saw a couple of worth-a-look titles to check out. I was disappointed in finding a Zappa vinyl LP that was in rough condition and priced at $50. In my humble opinion they might not know what they got for records and are pricing based off of title alone so be sure to check your record before making a decision to buy. Parking isn't a thing here as there is a large lot. There is even a spacious drop off donation spot here too that would be easy for someone to drop off items in bulk without any issue. read more

Ive been here 2x. First visit was in March, most recent was december. I enjoyed my first visit so much. I had to put stuff back ... I was just finding too many things. th prices are fair to a little high for used items. I felt. TBH, I can find similar items new with sale prices and circle deals from the big box chain stores. All right so this is a donation center which everything is free. It is a center to help people but yet they're not helping anybody with these ridiculous prices I came here to shop for a birthday gift and a birthday dress for my daughter. I am a family of low income and I came here hoping to find something decent enough so she will feel pretty and feel special with what we can do. I was even shopping for some birthday gifts, but everything is ridiculously priced. I wanted to buy her some boots because she's been wanting some $15 for a pair of kids boots eight dollars for a dress that is free and given to y'all books for four dollars you were even charging eight dollars for an activity book that was written on stickers were missing. I could understand it was brand new but it is used and you're charging eight dollars how is it helping the community people are surviving off of these thrift stores yet y'all are taking advantage of us. These are free items. This is not arms of Hope. This is arms of greed. You guys literally get every piece of item for free yet you're charging an arm and a leg for everything. I am so disappointed and speechless and heartbroken that these free arms of Hope goodwill all y'all fucking places are nothing but greed y'all aren't helping anybody but yourselves and your pockets. Value and Selection is great! Store is very clean and organized making it easier to shop and find sizes and items! Staff is usually friendly and quick to help assist getting items into your car! Checkout usually moves quickly and smoothly! The 2 Colors of the day discounts, as well as, additional senior or military discount days can be additional great for shopping at the store! There was an employee that was super rude to my kids. They were sitting on the bar of the rack watching my phone, I told them to sit there because I didn't want them to sit on the disgusting floor (it was very dirty). The employee was physically touching them (tapping their leg hard) and telling them to leave that area! I was standing right there they were being quite and calm just minding their own business, she then was ugly to me when I asked her to leave them alone! I have shopped at this store for years! So here is the paradox of disappointment. If your store has done away with dressing rooms how are we, as the paying customers supposed to know if an item fits or not? Since you don't offer refunds or exchanges that leaves the customer out that sum of money as unfortunately I had to experience. Face it if we are going to a thrift store it is to save money not just give it away on items we can't use. Since all garments are cut differently and sizes vary I would highly recommend you reconsider this policy or bring back dressing rooms. You can definitely do better than this. read more

Was chased down by a very rude employee as I was shopping with my sister. Told I would have to leave because my purse is a backpack. Bus drivers often use backpacks as purses. She acted like we were the worse criminals yet we had a basketful of items to purchase. She was rude and treated us badly so we just left. Megan & Danielle were both really friendly & helpful! I was looking for moo moos /older style clothing for a party and Megan went out of her way to show me where to look & even give me her opinion on some things that I found. Danielle helped me with pearls at the jewelry case & was also our cashier when we checked out. Both of these young ladies were 5 stars! This store is big & has a lot of stuff. The reason for 3 stars is that they had two of the exact same blankets but they were different prices. The cashiers aren't allowed to price adjust. Also, I found numerous pieces of clothing w stains on them (like the black stains on the yellow dress) and they still won't reduce the price on items that they were GIVEN for free. I think that's ridiculous. Nobody is going to buy this old fashioned yellow dress (with shoulder pads) w black stains for $8 but they could've made $5 or $6 (on something they got for free) if they'd reduced the price for me. That's just bad business. Their loss though! I found more moo moos for the party at Good will for half the price. read more

This place has a high turnover of items so this means you can come often to find different items at a reasonable price. I have found the staff to be friendly but I haven't come when it is a day when they have "Specials" i.e. 50% (which is probably ridiculous. There are normally lines to check out, but they seem to go at a decent pace. Plenty of parking and lots to choose from depending on what you are looking for. Always check to see what discounts are going on. read more

Great for a thrift store. Seems like usually good selection, each visit over the years. Like most thrift stores, can unfortunately be messy, but can say that at this location, there are always employees meandering the floor, trying their best to pick up after the customers. They have been conscientious during CoronaDrama. Fitting rooms closed, all employees wearing protective gear. Tags discounted every day in the week, also have storewide sakes rather frequently. Honestly, this is one of the best thrift stores I've ever been to. The prices are good and they always have some type of color tag deals. I specifically go for housewares which can be a nightmare for the workers (wrapping while checking out) but the first time I went Roger checked me out and was extremely pleasant and friendly! I'm used to the eye rolls from workers but Roger didn't even flinch! While in town I've been to all locations but this is my favorite because of the selection and the staff! this place, gets wayyy to busy. i couldn't look at the things i wanted to because of how busy it was. also, i've got some clothes from there and a lot of it was ruined clothes. there was a cute romper i was excited to wear and the sleeve was completely broken. i was super upset. i would watch out and take a good look at the clothes before you buy them, and if you are willing to go through a very long line, by all means do it. it was super busy. i will never go there again. read more

First time in and it's a big store with lots of selections, but mostly clothing. The prices are decent compared to other thrift store ($6-$10 clothing). They do color tag promos. It was organized and clean. The cons are the customer service and no fitting rooms/very few mirrors. I agree with the other reviewers, this place is quite large, but for being so large- I thought they would have a lot more than what they did. We walked out of there with nothing which was just fine. My husband is drawn to thrift stores and can easily spot them like a hawk. He spotted this one on the way to San Antonio. It is big, fairly well organized, but also disorganized if that makes sense. Lots and lots of clothes shoes (ratty ones too, throw them out instead of trying to resell gross items). Prices were okay, but some of the things were over priced for the quality of what they were selling. If you have the time, it is worth a visit. read more

What an awesome place to go. I never knew how ginormous this place was until we stopped in one day to check it out. Absolutely huge, and the prices here were great. Managed to pick up a couple of things that had little to no signs of wear for crazy good prices so it's a win win. When I went, the store looked super clean and everything was tidy. First and foremost, no fitting rooms??? And you can't return your items?? "But here's some store credit instead at an overpriced thrift store" Can it get any worse? Right, it can. If there's no tag on the item instead of price matching it to the rest of similar looking items "we can't sell this to you there's no tag and we have to send it back to production". The people up front obviously don't look like they want to be there either. For one of the biggest thrift stores in San Antonio I expected a little more structure. I used to come here all the time, back when it was structured. For people looking to come here, simply don't, drive down the street and go to goodwill instead. read more

Now this is a thrift store of epic proportions! It is huge. Lots of shoes but they are not arranged in any particular order except by gender. Women's dresses were too packed on the rack to be able to go through them easily. Men's shirts, T Shirts were much better arranged by size and they were not jammed on the racks. Housewares are well arranged and there is a good amount of this type of merchandise. Good prices and excellent color tag sales as well as senior discounts on Tuesdays. Lots and lots of parking in front of the store. Most employees were friendly and helpful. Very clean but some racks were cluttered. read more

We went today for the Labor Day 50% off everything, and it was easy to navigate the store but Upon checking out the line was wrapped around the building, and it was hot, it was actually so hot, my daughter fainted after waiting 1 1/2 hours in line just to check out and we were only half way thru the line. Another guest rallied for me to go to the front to get checked out quickly and take my child home and the supervisor told me that I need to be more prepared for an event like this and that I can leave my stuff and go home, I told her that no one can prepare for a fainting CHILD and the other lady told her that I had already been waiting in line for over an hour and just needed to check out quickly as I only had a few items. I was flustered my child was crying and I was prepared to leave my stuff behind and walk out but the supervisor huffed and took me to a register. As I was walking with the supervisor she literally pointed at people in line and telling me that it wasn't fair to them because they have waited. And it turns out the reason the line was taking hours to check out is because half the registers were CASH ONLY and the others CARD ONLY. How many people actually pay in cash now a days?! I hate that this happened to me today because i really liked going to this store as it's near my home. My husband even got there quickly when I called him to let him know what happened. This is one of our favorite stores to go even to just walk around and see what they have. We usually spent between $20-40 and bring back some essentials we need at home or just stuff for fun. On our last visit we notice an increase on prices and it was really disappointing. I know more and more second hand stores are doing this because of resellers online but they also need to understand that online reseller target specific buyers. Increasing prices will only make you loose customers as it was evident on our last visit. We used to always see a full parking lot as we arrive on previous visits but this past Saturday it was more than half empty and now we know why. We only spent $10 since most of the items were not worth buying for that high of a price even with discounts. read more

I decide to pop in real quick to see if i could find anything. This place is huge! I became a lil overwhelmed with all the merchandise. It was a weekend so yes it was busy. It is messy but I did find 3 gems! Of course, you gotta take it or risk it not being there mins later. I managed to score 2 Hollister barely worn jeans and an authentic Marc by Marc Jacobs purse for $4.00! She looked so sad just there hanging with all the other purses. I'm gonna polish her up(real leather) and take her out for brunch/dinner dates. I'll be back, most likely on a week day to avoid the crowds. read more

Disappointed!! I used to stop here all the time to look at the furniture. Took home a few nice pieces for a reasonable price in the past. I have become discouraged that fair conditioned furniture price are now 2-4 times more than previously. Today I saw a desk with half unscrewed drawers, top surface with multiple coffee rings and big chipped edges going for $120. Small side tables were over $50 and sofas were over $200. The quality does not reflect the prices. I won't be coming back any time soon when looking for furniture in the future. read more
