This place has died. After today's experience, extinct in my world. As in, it used to be a more quirky thrift store that had a treasure hunt vibe to it. Ever since COVID, it seems like it has tried to become a Texas thrift trying to promote clothes, but did not do it successfully. Their prices and value are also not quite up to par. Compared to similar thrift stores in the area. My biggest issue today? Customer service was absolutely unacceptable. I feel like they were uncomfortable because of all the pictures I was taking? The two ladies in front kept staring and whispering to each other and looking back at me. I decided to give them the benefits of the doubt- they must have better things to talk about? I had nothing with me but my mobile, so why were they following me around? I looked through the clothes for about twenty minutes, then went over to the shoes, then back to the clothes. Then I went over to request getting into the fitting rooms, which were locked. One lady from the front came over as I stood there. "Something wrong?" Was the first thing she said to me. Taken aback, I replied, no, I was trying to get into a fitting room, please? I showed her my three garments. "Were you putting clothes back?" "What?" "My associates said you were putting clothes back." I looked at her blankly. "They said you took some and were putting them back in the shoes section." "I apologize, ma'am, I do not know what you are talking about," I answered in the most polite voice, even though I was getting increasingly frustrated. "They saw you. Take clothes and put them by the shoes." At this point, I was ready to leave. If this was how they were treating customers, I was not about to beg to be let into the fitting room, let alone give them my business. "I do not know what you are talking about, How about we go to the shoes and you can show me? I did not put anything there, only the clothes I have in my hands." "No. They took them away", she replies. Silence. "I am going to have you ask you to leave," she says. I don't even care anymore. Frankly, I am not sure whether I am more puzzled by how this confusion has taken place or more shocked that they have the audacity to treat a customer like this with no grounds. She did not even try to communicate with me with kindness. She was accusatory, told me to leave, and that was that. I left. Never plan to return. Good riddance. Highly not recommended. I think I was expecting more knickknacks than what it was, which was rack after rack of lightly-used clothes of all sizes. I would say it's about 75% clothes, 22.5 %everything else plus 2.5% shoes. They had changing rooms to try on clothes and at first I grabbed the first room that seemed vacant due to not really seeing a clear system. However , once I was in the room, I discovered the door did not lock from the inside. Assuming they did not lock us in from the outside, I proceeded to try the Thrift Town clothes on over my own outfit. This gave me an idea of which garments would work, but not really a confirmation. So I perused some more, grabbed a couple more tops and with my fiancé as lookout, proceeded to try everything on as intended. This place has some diamonds in the rough if you have the patience to look through the offerings. They organized the clothes very well by size and all the knickknacks were arranged neatly in their own categorized shelves. I left happy, with a few great and comfy everyday tops as well as a flattering house dress. I look forward to dressing them up with accessories and cardigans. read more

Really sad to see how quickly this place has slide. The prices have gone up for such poorer quality clothing. I miss the eclectic variety. No point going here since they're going the way of goodwill. Selling only wore clothes and expecting people to pay more is just horrible. read more

All I can say is wow! If you're looking for a great thrift store, that's stocked, clean, and ORGANIZED, then look no further! Seriously! Put your phone down, grab your keys, and head on over! This place is FULL of goodies! Name brand, not so name brand, you name it. I loved this place. This place has changed and definitely for the worse. It used to be a good thrift shop where you could search through everything and really find some quality items at a good price. Now it is almost all junk and lower quality clothing. (Not sure about the children's section, because I don't shop there.) if you do find something fairly nice, there is an insane price tag. Here are two pictures from today. The pea coat price is unbelievable. It's a J Crew Factory coat, not the nicer J Crew quality, and it probably cost less in the store when it was new. You can definitely find it much cheaper on EBay. The Southern Living trays are priced about the same as on EBay which is ok if that's the way they are going to run the store, but that isn't the way they priced before. It's gone downhill since I guess new ownership. I've wondered if they have someone pulling the better quality items and listing them online since there is such a dramatic change in quality from before. read more

Firs time at Thrift Town and I have to say I was surprised how much stuff there was! The only thing that made it a little difficult to see everything clearly, is it was a little dark inside and it is such a big space that it needs more lighting. They had about 2 people doing checkouts, so if you go at a busy time you can wait about 3-5 minutes in line. Also if you are military they only do discount on Monday's! I will definitely be back when I have more time to shop. I was able to find a couple cute shorts. read more

Pretty expensive for a thrift store honestly. But, worse it's an uncomfortable shopping experience due to the staff and I would not recommend coming here if you're trying to thrift as a way to relax. While shopping, I politely asked for a changing room to try some of the clothing on and of course left my basket (with housewares, my car keys and a drink outside the changing room) after I came back outside I found that my cart was gone. A little frustrated I asked the employee who was putting away the things I picked out away where the keys were, and she said they were at the front because they "Thought I left". I won't lie it was a pretty weird, embarrassing exchange when I went to the front and asked just why someone would do that, when I was clearly in the dressing room. The employees were pretty mean when they explained they had thrown my drink in the trash, and that they weren't allowed in the store anyway. Which was kinda weird because I entered the store with the drink clearly in my hand and was greeted by someone who worked there. There also is no signage anywhere on the front of the store that claims drinks are not allowed..Just no backpacks. I won't lie..It seemed kind of mean spirited. Ultimately, the manager on staff proceeded to talk down to me as if I was a child. Asking "Well where WERE you, you weren't with your keys, huh?" (To which I answered, the dressing room...) She went on a little tangent about how people steal things in the store all the time and that it wasn't a safe place..Which I guess may have been a good point, I don't know it seemed like an overreaction.. Attached is the outside of the store which obviously says don't bring back packs but doesn't mention drinks.. Overall..It's just not a fun place to be, kinda demoralized after buying myself a nice drink and going thrifting to cheer myself up lol so I would recommend somewhere else if you are trying to decompress.. read more

I used to love to shop here & would go in maybe once a week to find what treasures awaited me. I lived less than a minute from the store so it was easy to catch me over there all the time. I moved so I don't go as often & now when I do I am usually walking out empty handed. This isn't because I didn't find anything I liked, it was because the prices are outrageous!! I don't know if they're taking a page out of goodwills greedy book but wow!! I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't take pictures of the highly over priced items so I could put them up to the EBay & Etsy comps I found. What I think is incredible sad is Thrift town gets items donated to them, they used to price in house & now the corporate office prices everything & ships out trucks to the stores. GREED!!! Shame on you thrift town! The areas where your stores are located are in low income areas & you're forcing yourself out of business because people can no longer afford to shop there. I legit had a lady approach me while I was in the store asking if I could help her purchase a shirt because she didn't have enough money & it was a shirt so she could go to her interview. I ended up directing her to another thrift store where she could buy more with the budget she had to work with, after I bought her her shirt. i'm a lady that loves thrifting so much. i don't get clothes unless it's thrifted. i'm a cheapskate and i do not want to get clothes that is super expensive. i went here to check out the stuff and i wasn't impressed but at the same time i liked it! they had nice clothes and a whole bunch to choose from. i got very nice clothes from there. it wasn't too packed either so i had the freedom to take my time and look at things. overall, i got some good finds! read more

I am a 62 year old African American woman and have been shopping at Thrift Town for many, many years. Over the years, I have had a problem with some staff following me around to see if I am stealing. Today, I had the problem again. Two female staff were watching me. Wherever I shopped one of the female staff was there. When I turned to walk to the counter to pay, I noticed the two female employees looking at me and then they turned around and went back to work. I approached one of the female employees and told her I don't steal and I was aware that she was watching me. Of course, she denied it. This is very bad for Thrift Town's business and reputation. I would like to know how many other African Americans are subject to this behavior at Thrift Town. This happened at the San Antonio Store on Thousand Oaks drive store. Inventory is in and out constantly, so some visits you'll find a ton of stuff but others will seem like a waste of time. Location is huge, there's definitely something for everyone here. Clothing for men, women, and children, with separate sections for outerwear, accessories, and shoes. Jewelry is always worth a looky-look here, but a lot of it is too costumey for my taste. Furniture, home decor, seasonal, and linen sections are better-stocked than most other thrift stores in SA- and usually it doesn't look like the leftovers from a garage sale! This is the best overall thrift store I have been to in San Antonio. The store is kept in primo condition, staff keeps the items on the hooks and off the floors, it's organized and KEPT organized, and the quality and selection are pretty darn good. I was shocked when I walked past the men's shoes when I noticed several pairs of Clarks in my size. One pair I recognized as being around $150 but unfortunately it was a size too small. Of course inventory comes and goes so expecting such a find on a routine basis may be a wee optimistic. The only major downside is probably home furnishings of which they do not have much. A not so major downside is the location - it's near... Nothing! Well, maybe a few of you live in the area but for most of San Antonio, it's quite a hike to get to this place. However, I do believe if you are a thrift store shopper, it's well worth the drive. As with all other thrift stores they do have bargains each day of the week e.g. pink tagged items 50% off. They may have some sort of rotating schedule so you may want to call ahead and ask. Thrift Town, not to be confused as I did with Thrift City, is a great thrift store that thrift enthusiasts will surely love. And even if you're not a thrift enthusiast and normally would not consider buying or wearing used clothing, even you might find something here that changes your mind. read more

I came on a day when everything in the store, with exception of holiday items, were 50% off. I found some great deals: 6 shirts, a very cute flamingo drinking glass and a backpack for under $15.....Sweet!. Store was clean. Staff were nice. Only complaint is, there was a long line at checkout, about a 15 minute wait. Other than the long checkout delay, was a good shopping experience. Not that I've found too many things there, but my husband and son make out like bandits there. Their selection is great, everything is clean and color-coded, and there are some pretty good weekly sales. The whole trick to thriftshopping is to go often...several times a week, even. It's been awhile since I've walked into a Thrift Town. After moving to San Antonio, I went onto Yelp to find a good thrift store to go to, and was excited to find a Thrift Town close enough to where I live! Yay! I've always enjoyed going to Thrift Town because they always have a sale or another and with those sales their clothing is cheaper than what you'll find at Goodwill. This location is fairly easy to get to and to find. The parking is decent even though it shares it's parking with other stores. This store is fairly clean, organized and the employees are nice. This store is a bit smaller than other Thrift Towns I've been to, but still an awesome place to go and shop around. I was able to find some nice tops, a couple dresses, and a nice bag while here. It's also easy to spend a good amount of time here and not realize how much time you've spent shopping. They do bring out items regularly so like other thrift stores, go visit often to see if you can add to your household/wardrobe (mainly wardrobe XD). I would highly recommend signing up for their emails so you can know about their different sales and to also get on their rewards system so you can start saving on your purchases!! ^_^ Overall, a nice thrift store to go visit and visit often! read more

Great thrift store with lots of selection. Sign up for their VIP program and you will get coupons emailed to you every month. They usually do colored tag sales on holidays so everything is up to half off the tagged price. Plus they have weekly tag sales of 50-60% off. I've found a few good deals here on designer brand items. There is a bigger selection of clothes here than a lot of other thrift stores. My only issue would be that you can end up waiting a while in the checkout line as they usually only have 1-2 people on the register. As far as thrift stores go this one is pretty good. Fair prices and good inventory. It's spacious and has wall to wall full of things you might need or just impulse shopping. For example they have some name brand clothes for men, women and children. They have a cool assortment of glassware. They have a section that has books and magazines at pretty reasonable prices. They do have some vinyl, but not a lot. I spotted a copy of Michael Jackson's, "Thriller" among other things. Most of the stuff you find here is random and depending on how hard you search you can find something cool. The service is pretty good, despite the fact that lines can get long here. Which brings me to my last point which sums up the service you might expect here. Long story short they forgot to bag a few items by mistake. I asked if they would hold them, a lesser store would have put them out to be resold. They put them on hold til I could get them and were very apologetic and professional about the whole matter. I really like this store! I have gone to places where inventory was scattered all over floors. Or even places where they have locking devices on items, that were donated to begin with in the first place. Even worse is thrift stores selling items at retail price like it was Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom. Here, prices are just right and won't break your wallet. And that helps if you are on a budget or in my case, on the hunt for good read or one of the kind brew glasses. Check this store out, it's not bad. I love Thrifttown! I can't believe I just discovered it! First off, I'd give it 5 instead of 4 stars, but the line is so dang long!!! I was a little upset about gaining some weight, but luckily I can find some "temporary" pants without breaking the bank until I fit back into my regular size! Not only did I find very cute stylish temporary pants, I can't ever find a pair a cute shorts without hunting the world over or wearing "mom shorts"... And I am not one to wear short shorts. I ended up finding an awesome pair of shorts for $3 that someone made into shorts by tailoring cute jeans. The length is perfect! Not too short, not too long. I also found 2 really cute pairs of shoes! I'll definitely be back, even when I can wear my regular size pants again!! Such a big thrift store! Bigger than any Goodwill I have been to! Comparable to a Savers. I walked in and was so excited I spent about 30 minutes in there and probably could have spent an hour or two. While I was trying on clothes I realized how pricey their items were. $7.99 for a sweater, anywhere from $15.99-$19.99 for a pair of Levi's. These prices are way cheaper at Goodwill. Thrift Town is the best thrift store in San Antonio! I have been to thrift town several times and each experience of shopping was better than the last. I love the great customer service, clothes, shoe household items and coupons they offer their VIP Members. So far I have gotten a $10 discount. I always find what I am looking for at a reasonable price. Their jewelry collection is off the chain! They have vintage, early 90s & modern jewelry. On certain days they have discounts related to the colors on the tags which can give you up to 50% off. This thrift store is always clean and the lighting inside is great.
