This review is for the IMAX theater experience only, not the museum. I went to see Star Trek Into Darkness, and have some pointers and advice for movie fans. #1 If you believe that buying tickets online will save you time, think again. We waited in line (to receive the tickets we had already purchased online!) for about 20 minutes. There are 6 ticket windows, but only two were staffed. On a busy Saturday afternoon, that seems inexcusable. So, if you buy your tickets online, plan on getting there at least an hour early, and here's why. #2 After you 'buy' your tickets, there is a gigantic line waiting to seat. This is normal for any blockbuster, of course. However, if you think buying your tickets online gets you a better seat, you've been flimflammed. #3 The first 4 rows of the theater simply shouldn't be used for a 3D experience. The glasses are not large enough to view the whole screen, and the left and right 1/3 of the screen were out of focus the entire film, even when I turned my head. This was by no means emmersive, and very annoying. I understand if a person is late to a film, they may have to sit in the front row at any theater. However, we weren't late, we were 40 minutes early! IMAX's process for getting ticket buyers to their seats is flawed. Take a page from Alamo's book and let consumers buy reserved seats! At $15 a ticket, it's really the very least you could do, IMAX. Until you fix this, I will never, ever see a feature-length film at your theater again. Here is what I propose to consumers; if you DO go see a 3D film there, and you discover you have to sit in one of the first four rows, go get your $15 back. If enough consumers do this, and IMAX sees it's first 4 rows regularly empty out, maybe they will do something about it. read more
