This place was awesome!!! Great customer service coupled with a bevy of rubs and a fine selection of meats and cheeses. I loaded up on rubs to take back to Cali with me. I really appreciated the fact that I was able to taste every rub I was curious about. Also, the gentleman at the shop gave me tastings/samples of some popular rubs each of which I loved and had to have. I wanted to buy almost every rub I tasted but had to restrain myself. The jerky is excellent and I've been buying it for years online. However when I went to place an order recently, I cancelled it due to the postage. I live within a hundred miles from Mansfield (Waco) and the postage on a small size ($7,50) package was over $12.00 bringing the total to over $20.00. In the future I'll drive there and purchase larger amounts. read more

This place advertises itself as a beef jerky place. WELL that's bull! ;D This place is high level meat market BUT.. drum roll. ITS CHEAP! I know unbelievable. I had been told this fact and also saw a review stating as such but I didn't believe it. Brothers and Sisters...Im a believer. Prime grade ribeye $13.99. Prime grade strip $12.99! Yep, amen carnivores. Got some chicken which is real chicken. Smallish, not injected with that bullshit solution all chicken seems to have. Got a pork butt,the color is astounding and I cant wait to cook it. Whether you're in the area or not you gotta get over here. All kinds of rubs and sauces you don't see everywhere. I cant believe I haven't stopped here before. DUMB. The place is TINY but packs a punch. Oh yeah. The beef jerky. DUH. We were very impressed with the selection of meats. We left with some prime steaks, a brisket and a rack of ribs. They all were fabulous coming off our pellet grill. Very friendly service, ask all the questions you want, they have answers. We'll be returning soon. read more

I have tried many different types of beef jerky and I can tell you, without a doubt in my mind, that Texas Slabs makes the best beef jerky. This is the best place to get great natural chicken, steaks and ribs for the grill. We buy the filets and they melt in your mouth. If you love beef jerky then this is the place for you. In the store they also carry specialty sauces, marinades, rubs, dips and soup packages. The peanut brittle they carry is wonderful also. For a small shop they offer so much. read more

Have shrugged the grocery store meats and almost buy solely from these guys. Beef jerky is good and the tenderloin is better than what you get at the more expensive steak houses. Didn't see t-bones but no big deal. Their fajitas are also great. Gotta try the beef and jalapeno sausage. read more

This place is great! Bought half a brisket and smoked it over the week-end. Best I've ever done. Moist and tender. Meat is all grass-fed and from local Texas or Oklahoma ranches. This is the only beef jerky I buy any more! It's pricey, yes, but it is so worth it and so delicious. I always get it for stocking stuffers for Christmas, and my family is always very excited! I've heard their meat selections in their cooler are some of the best you can buy and not expensive at all. We were told about this place by some of our first friends in Mansfield when we moved here a year ago and I have to say, I will never purchase steaks anywhere else!!! We were strictly Ribeye people and were introduced to the filets and let me tell you, I will never buy Ribeyes again!!! It's a very small out of the way place. According to some, the staff is not friendly. I can answer to this when the younger guys are tending to the front, but they are just that... Young guys! The owner will appear from the back with his apron and cowboy hat and he is just about as friendly and informative as you could ask for! He takes a lot of pride in what he has to offer!!! The filets come in a 2-pack vacuum sealed package and really look small to the eye. They run anywhere from $8-$20 for 2 steaks depending on size and special he has going on but let me tell you... Once you remove them from the package, smother them the Steakmate ( you can purchase there), a little salt and pepper and a squeeze of lime just sit back for about 5-10 minutes and watch them expand. They are huge! 9 minutes each side on the grill and you've got the best, most tender juicy steak you will ever eat! The beef jerky is good too! Well done, Scott!!! read more

Worth the hour drive for our spicy beef jerky.

I bought some of their jerky at a gas station here in North Richland Hills, and It was the best jerky I ever had. I drove 40 minutes to go buy more of it. When I arrived, I could smell the store as soon as I stepped out of my car. When I walked in, the person behind the counter greeted me with a smile. The people that staff this store are in every way fantastic. Extremely friendly, and the Beef Jerky is probably some of the best you can buy. I saw some fantastic looking cuts of meet in the cooler as well! I will definitely be coming to this location again. Absolutely fantastic! read more
