My husband & I have lived in our rental for almost a year now and have no complaints. We were easily approved for the house 2 months before our requested move-in date and the process was extremely quick and convenient. Every time we put in a service request, it is usually handled in an adequate amount of time. There was a time where our AC went out and I got extremely frustrated with them because I need the house cold at all times, but we were followed up with legitimate reasons as to why it was taking them a couple weeks to resolve the issue. Good thing we were out of the country at the time so I didn't have to deal with the heat for too long. This company has good communication and emails/calls us regularly to notify us of inspections, repairs, and other requests. We have another year on this lease and will probably renew if the customer service they've been providing us with is as accommodating as it is currently. read more

Hey, accountant - you were supposed to return over $500 to me in fees that were charged to an OFFBOARDED ACCOUNT! It is unprofessional and unethical to keep monies due to your patrons, but I no longer bring in rental income, and I'm a disgruntled previous owner, so there is limited bandwidth for my issues, which have been presented multiple times on calls, in emails and thru the unhelpful owner's portal. I have cataloged a long, laundry list of items and issues that were never addressed, including the over $5,000 damage done to my home, never reported/paid by the renters. You know, the renter who allowed "an adult not approved/on the lease" to be living in my home, while the renter lived nearby, with parents? The reason TR never wanted to acknowledge this was because they would have been responsible for kicking the adult out and calling in the entire lease payment from the renter (yes, the adult living there was verified by my neighbor, a cop). That "adult" was the person who did not alert management that there was a leak that caused over $5K of damage, which then had to be repaired by my new rental company. Yes, I'm very unhappy with TR, in their lack of professionalism (Laura T, missing multiple "meeting" calls and blaming the meeting software!), lack of correspondence and lack of communication. Imagine my surprise when in 2025 I found out that Laura T got her real estate license; that explains why she was missing meetings in 2024 and 2025, never responded to correspondence, never took meeting notes, never addressed my concerns, never got me paid for my OOP expenses that were charged to me in error, etc. read more

In my experience, working with Laura M. Tijerina and TexasRenters.com was very disappointing. They attempted to charge us for misaligned electricity bills, threatened us with a $5,000 legal retainer fee, and later demanded a 2% commission--even when their agent resigned in the middle of the process without completing any further management or sales. Please note that they were NOT successful in securing any tenants for us or selling the house. Our balance sheet remained negative for revenues, yet they continued charging us a monthly management fee even after their agent resigned without advance notice. They also tried to apply a 1.5% 'interest' fee. To us, this felt unreasonable and unprofessional. They claimed it was stipulated in the contract, but how can it be justified when the interest is applied to charges that were neither reasonable nor supported by any documentation? Overall, the process came across as intimidating and barbaric, and we felt being "robbed". We reached out several times both on phone and email requesting for clear explanation and reconciliation over the charges. But never did them call us back to explain. Instead, what they did is to send threatening emails asking us to clear it off before a certain date and some electricity bills invoices that don't align with the numbers on our account. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this company to other homeowners. No professional dialogue or communication has been taken place at all. P.S. Due to their slow response, my child was attacked by a neighbor's dog that required medical attention. What a freaking nightmare. Texas Renters does NOT do their job. I am being billed extra monthly for AC filter replacement and exterminator services and nothing is done. I asked to stop being billed and they said they would take care of it by scheduling maintenance. I was hopeful they would show and waited the entire day - took off of work. No one ever came. They never rescheduled. They never contacted me again. They said they had a backlog of maintenance every month but I haven't seen ANYONE in over 6 months. Someone is obviously lying about doing their job. When I call to complain I'm made to feel like I'm being rude and I'm in the wrong when I am genuinely concerned. I spent a lot of money to be here and the outcome is less than satisfactory. They took over 2 months when I first moved in to supply a working dishwasher and fix my oven so I could cook a meal and wash dishes. My kitchen sink doesn't drain and they've attempted to fix it three times and still it doesn't drain because previous owners clogged the lines with grease. No dishwasher and no sink and no oven made it miserable. The wiring in the house needs to be completely redone. Half of the plug sockets do not work and the lights flicker in parts of the house so bad it gives migraines. They repaired the roof and arrived on a random day without ever alerting anyone who lives here of their arrival - and redid our roof in one day IN THE RAIN. The roof is already caving and they nearly knocked my ceiling fan off of the ceiling from how quickly they were working. There are RAT traps in my attic that I NEVER placed along with a ton of feces from rodents. I was NEVER informed of a pest problem such as that. None of the maintenance people they send speak English only SPANISH so communicating is very difficult. My house has a notebook page worth of issues from plumbing, electrical, and structural and NOTHING is being done. When maintenance did show up announced they did NOT arrive with a body camera like they stated. I informed them I was uncomfortable when they showed up without a time frame and had Carlos become upset with me saying he "would not hurt me" when I expressed how I didn't appreciate the random timing. I am a young woman with a young daughter. I have EVERY right to exercise safety in my home. I have addressed this issue multiple times and am told "this is the first time we are hearing about this" EVERYTIME. I wish I had never ever used this agency. Our homeowner initially decided to involve Texas Renters because he was deployed in the army. However, in the eight months we have lived there, he has been more responsive and supportive than Texas Renters-- from freaking BAHRAIN in the Middle East! They have charged us for multiple instances that were completely out of our control-- leaks through the back door, a toilet that was unknowingly leaking into the bowl for our first three months and making our water bills astronomically high, and a broken heater. Mind you, we didn't try the heater until Houston had it's first freeze of winter. Texas renters failed to send out a repair man for a week and half and then when he finally showed he didn't have the right parts and asked us to order them from amazon. We lived in a house that was 55 degrees for four days with no help or rent deduction from Texas Renters. ***They were contractually bound to conduct routine maintenance checks prior to our move-in date, and completely and utterly failed to do so. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. We had the displeasure of signing a two year lease. When first viewing the property we noticed some issue: the dishwasher was broken, there was mold in the kitchen due to the water damage done by said dishwasher, holes in almost every wall in the home, mismatch paint and BLACK MOLD on the caulking of each bathroom. Damages by previous tenants we were told would be fixed before move in... boy were we wrong. 1.) We moved in a did a deep clean despite being told the property was "professionally cleaned" prior to move in. Dog urine was under the fridge and washer and dryer. NOTHING WAS FIXED AS PROMISED. 2.) Maintenance request were being closed with no reason besides "too expensive for owner." We gave up making requests after 8 months. 3.) Our fence fell on a windy day. We have dogs and two women in our house, so safety is a priority. That request took 3 weeks to fulfill because the owner was cheap and wanted to "shop around" before repairing. She also reached out to me despite our lease stating I would be charged $500 if I reached out to her. We were also charged for fence repair in our security deposit breakdown despite them being aware of all sides of the fences conditions via photos in the portal. ($400 for "12 planks") We also replaced some planks ourselves so that proved useless. 4.) Maintenance was sent out to fix mismatch paint and just spackled the walls instead. Left the "correct paint" which we used to do it ourselves and they tried to charge us for it saying is-matched paint in our security deposit. 4.) Our A/C started leaking through the ceiling. Immediately made a service request. 3 separate teams came out and weren't able to fix it. Landlord got mad at us for not "telling her the severity soon enough." BLACK MOLD started growing in the vents and we were breathing it in for months before anyone took us seriously. That's when they started caring. We had 4 months left on our lease. ( This is when they finally fixed the dishwasher which was in our lease agreement. 20 months into our lease) They also charge you $10 a month for filter changes. We did all of the filter changes, except 2, ourselves. I argued with them about refunding and that was useless. 6.) Sprinkler system that was stated we had in our lease never worked and was visibly cut off. Texas renters required me to show it was leaking via my bill, despite sending photos of the leak and an increase of water bill by $200. My word wasn't strong enough compared to an automated bill apparently. Tried to blame the increase in billing on my boyfriend that visited twice a week. 7.) We over paid our lasts month rent by $1000+ because autopay was set up. They refused to give us the surplus till we received our security deposit back. When we finally got our security deposit breakdown back they falsely charged us for previous tenants damages and everything we had been complaining about our whole lease. They charges us for the fence, a whole house painting and a cleaning fee despite hiring a professional company and paying for it out of pocket. Couldn't get anyone on the phone. Had to show up in person just to basically make an appointment for another day. They also don't have a phone number for their accounting department which is how they're able to break down your spirit and not give you the proper amount back. This is how they weasel money out of you as well. Showed up to the appointment and it proved pretty useless. 7.) FINALLY received our security deposit back after 57 day of our lease ending which is ILLEGAL in the state of Texas. Our landlord began using Texas Renters about 4 months ago. Immediately, they increased the rent by $100 (without any occupancy inspection) and made a mandatory $40 monthly fee for a "Tenant Benefits Package." According to the contract, the benefit package includes credit reporting, filter changes, $50 discounts on repairs, and pest control. No information was given about when any of the services would begin so we asked and were told the services would be performed quarterly starting in August. At the end of August, I inquired again. It wasn't until the end of September when someone came out to change the filter and spray for pests. They left puddles of the spray in the common areas of our living spaces. One of our toddlers stepped in the puddle! Seems very careless. Before this, in July, we needed our air conditioner repaired. After two weeks, someone was finally scheduled to come out. With no notice or invoice, they charged $75 on our ledger. When we inquired, they told us it was for the repair. I asked that in the future we be allowed to know the charge upfront instead of including it without telling us. All business must be conducted on their portal. Expect a response in 2 to never business days. As I have inquiries that are still unanswered on the portal.. I have couple picture when I move in they are using it as I move out and I show her the pictures, with no comment she said nothing, I understand that they charge the previous tenet, and now they charge me, then will charge the next tent for the same pictures, for deep cleaning and painting without doing anything.T hey charge me to paint the kitchen cabinet ( they took the picture I don't know how) I am 100% sure nothing wrong but the game in the picture. From day one the dryer not working, I called them they ask me to pay $75 to open work order, so I put it in the garage and I used mine, what if I don't have one ... We have rented several apartments and one home in our time as renters. Expected a standard lease agreement when we were approved for a home, but renters beware and read the fine print. At the end of the day, we were fine with the terms outlined, however, once lessees of the home the issues began: 1) as outlined and contested in our lease, they charge monthly HVAC/maintenance fees. When we inquired about this prior to signing our lease, they claimed we would receive filters monthly. Did not happen. Instead, a "monthly" inspection took place but only every 6 months, and never at the date and time they informed us of via the portal. In 1 year in the home, we have received only 1 filter delivery and have had only 1 actual inspection, because all others were halted due to our dog being out because we were not expecting inspectors 2) while completing the move in inventory, we documented several issues with the home that per our lease should have been the homeowners responsibility: ie the garage door lock malfunctioned, the restroom shower was molded, the patio covering was eroded and the gate fence was eroded beyond repair. While they did send someone to repair the fence and patio, we were on our own for the rest, even though documented in our inventory as already an issue. $75 for any maintenance request meant we live with the issues 3) our rental home was sold through texas renters while we were tenants, all well and good, the right of the owner. However, the company was unwilling to work with us on show times and inspection times, even when we reminded them of our pet in the home and work schedules. Essentially, we were expected to be viewer ready on 24 hours notice from 8 am - 5 pm seven days a week. Period. 4) once sold, we continued to see charges posted to our online portal, even after being informed by new owners of the sale and receipt of the lease. This happened during the holidays so we granted a certain amount of time for out of office, but no reply to several queries on the portal and phone calls. We received late fee notices for over a week before we were finally responded to. Receptionist is incredibly nice and helpful to the best of her abilities, but considering one of their agents facilitated the sale of the house after us living with viewers & inspectors entering the property for over two months, you would think they would take care of things on their end as to not further trouble us. Here's the skinny on this terrible management company ... 1) They don't take care of the property, they never did a walk through before I moved in. So, I had to pay $75 each time for maintenance requests that should have been completed before giving keys to a new tenant. I put in 6 requests in 2 weeks. Once the "Texas Renters Maintiance guy" showed up ... what a waste - he told me to wait to put in all request at one time... so not having a/c, dishwater or dryer was a normal thing.... 2) They charge $10 a month for filters but they always bring you the wrong size 3) There was a termite issue in the home and they said it was my issue and I had to pay for inspector to come out! Thank goodness the pest control guy explained to me it was a tenant issue and this should have been addressed years ago. 4) The carpet is old as dirt - there were lumps with who knows what under it (I had a carpet cleaning company come out and they said the carpet was well beyond it years) ... ewwww with all the animals .. gross. 5) Last but not least... I kept getting lease charge emails well after a month I moved out (they have had possession of the home for over 30 days) ... so they are nickel and dimming me without explanation... I logged into my account and they have removed my access so I can't see why they did. ZERO communication... no response to emails. If you have an option to move to another home please do so. A professional cleaning service was also hired and a receipt was provided to Texas Renters as they requested. They then went on to charge us $1300 to touch up walls and another $300 for a full house cleaning even though proof of a professional cleaning service was provided. A thorough move in inspection was also conducted and this too was disregarded at the end of the lease when they charged us to clean carpets that were already documented to be stained upon move in. First, they list homes for least, and applicants are required to complete an online application and provide the fees for the listed available homes. With this being said, I completed an application and paid $90 in application fees and $5 for processing fees. I was told the next day that I did not get the home due to " We have received multiple applications on this home, and based on the criteria, there is an applicant that is better qualified to whom we have offered the lease. Thank you and goodluck on your search for home". The above statement is understood. However, the next statement is what bothers me. Why would a company continue to accept applications on a home when you have offered it to someone already, and you have plenty of applicants to choose from? Further, then after receiving such an email stating that you have offered the home to someone else; you contine to take money from hard working people? i got a new job in Texas and found a place renting through Texas Renters. I put in my application 3 weeks ago , and have had to follow up every week to see what the status was. I was approved and did not hear anything until I called. which was a week after putting in the application. they then asked me to do bank share. We set that up, then I had to follow up to ask what was next. They contacted me and told me they were drawing up the lease. this was a week ago. I am now scheduled to report to my new job , and I have no place to stay. I told them on Friday I was to report to work the next week, if they could please have the lease ready. They told me it could be ready the next Friday. I asked them if it could be earlier, after 2 days they moved it to Wednesday. After almost a month of trying to get a lease. I now get the fees to move in, without even seeing the terms of what I am paying for, which is a full months rent plus the deposit. I'm moving into the unit mid month, why am I paying for a full month, most businesses pro rate. I decided to go to Yelp for real reviews on this company. Thank God for real people sharing their experiences and saving others like me. I have found another company to rent from. This place seems like a nightmare. This is the worst company in Texas (Houston) to rent from. I rented a home from this company for 3 years and it was the worst experience I have ever had renting from anyone!!! The house was disguising but we moved in the home because it was affordable and at the time my husband was going to go to trucking school so we needed a home affordable and my income could pay, so it was perfect. From day 1 we had issues. Not only did they NOT fix anything but when they would, they would charge $75 to fix things that were clearly because of the horrible conditions the house was in. After the 2nd year of being there and my husband finally got a trucking job we decided it's time to move on to bigger and better. But during the time of them wanting to do showings (3mnths before our lease was up) I was in the hospital delivering my baby girl and had my 2 boys (12 &16) at home. I absolutely would not allow strangers in my home while my boys were there, ALONE!! But they kept trying to schedule these showing even after explaining my situation. So i was forced to stay another year. Another year goes by in this disgusting home and 3 months before our lease was up we found another home and moved because our daughter was learning to crawl and we refused to let her crawl on that disgusting carpet. Might I add we were never late paying ren,t even when COVID hit. We were very good tenants!!! So we moved and paid 2 rents because we knew it was the right thing to do even though we had bad experiences with Texas Renters!!! After we moved and right before we had to turn in the keys we cleaned that house top to bottome!!! Even got that 20 year old carpet professionally cleaned!!! These people not only kept my deposit, they charged me almost 5K for painting the house. They took pictures of every little hole I placed in the wall that I used for hanging up pictures or decor and charged me $75 for each little hole, cracks in the ceiling that was done because of the foundation shifting, they even tried to charge me for the front door not opening properly even though I complained in the beginning that the front and garage door would not open or shut but all of a sudden it was my fault and it kept potential renters from seeing that disguising house. As much as they charged us you would think we had left that home vandalized. These people even charged me for cleaning supplies I left for the cleaning people who i knew would go behind me and clean with a note saying they could use. Guess that's what I get for being nice!!!! I have never wished bad on anyone but these people who work there are all POS!!! For a company to purposely do this to hard working individuals are bottom of the barrel scums!!! This is by far one one of the most unethical companies in Houston. As a renter of one of their managed properties I witnessed them blatently rip off the owner of the property and charge him for repairs that were never made. As a tenant we had to file a lawsuit over mis-charges and home repairs that didn't fall under our responsibility. Upon moving out we had another complete battle to only receive a minimal portion of our deposit. All in all my recommendation would be to never associate with the slime bag owner or his company as a tenant or a home owner. I had the nerve to give this company a good review in the beginning. Ha. This review is meant to WARN you. I don't care how BEAUTIFUL the house is, I would bet the owner of the home is new to this company and so are you. Let me save you the trouble. This company tried everything in the BOOK to keep my deposit BUT I read the reviews halfway through my lease and got smart. I started recording conversations and read through my lease multiple times before move out, so when Diana called to tell me I wasn't getting my deposit back bc I didn't give a 60 day notice, I confronted her with the FACTS. My lease stated 30 days written notice for the lease. Let's just say that changed the conversation. They don't even know what their leases / contracts state! They take JUST enough from your deposit not to get sued. They tried to charge me for a water heater leak that my landlord was aware of, denied the work order, THEN AFTER I MOVED OUT it caused water damage, and Texas Renters had the NERVE to try and charge me for it! (Yes, I have the recorded conversation and pictures.) So no, this isn't slander, this is facts and if I wouldn't have been the meticulous and detailed oriented person I am, and documented EVERYTHING they would've taken it all. Let's just say I got MOST of it back after the headache of arguing and proving the facts. But don't worry, companies like this don't last long.
