Purchased a used firearm (SOCOM 16) from them via Gunbroker (for a more than great price where I'm at). They shipped it very quickly and it arrived at my FFL dealer within days. After the waiting period I was finally able to take it home and took it to the range that weekend. In my rush I did not strip it down and just did a quick wipe-down/oil of it. At the range I found that it was not ejecting rounds, essentially turning it into a bolt-action. It otherwise shot very well and accuracy-wise, I could not be happier.
I took it home and completely broke it down, assuming that the gas port was clogged as the rifle was VERY dirty (I assume the previous owner used engine oil when he/she first bought it and never cleaned it). I stripped the rifle and found that the gas port nut was very loose. Took the nut and the operating rod off and found that there was no gas piston! Well, that would explain why no semi-auto firing. My assumption is it was disassembled at some point and someone forgot to put it in. Not a major problem and it isn't a particularly expensive part, so I went online and bought a NM part from Fulton Armory.
I shot Texas Ranch Outfitters a courtesy email just to give them the heads up that the firearm was missing a part to avoid any future problems with buyers. As it was an obviously used firearm, I would assume sold on consignment, I didn't blame them. Just wanted to give them a heads up to help them out. Not only did they respond very quickly, they refunded me the cost of the replacement part, which I highly doubt had anything to do with them. Afterwards, they stayed in contact with me and reached out by phone to provide updates.
I can't speak to their in-store service, but their customer service in my dealings was top-notch. I spoke to I believe three different people over the phone, so I can't call anyone out by name, but all three people were very pleasant to talk to and very helpful.
I will definitely have them as a saved search on GunBroker for anything I can't find locally in the future and they definitely earned their 5 stars from me! read more
