I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience. I called this plumber because my shower was only producing hot water and had no cold water. At the time, I didn't know what brand the shower valve was--I simply described the problem and expected that a licensed master plumber would either be able to diagnose it or tell me if it required someone with more specialized experience. Once he removed the trim and exposed the valve, it became clear that he was unfamiliar with the fixture. He repeatedly commented that it looked unusual, didn't recognize the cartridge, and eventually said he needed to do some research. Then when he was trying to put everything back, again didn't seem to know that the handle and the cartridge needed to align in a specific way, he broke the cartridge stem, which became lodged inside the handle, leaving both the cartridge and the handle damaged. Afterward, I did my own research and learned that the fixture was a Newport Brass valve. The following day, he called me with a replacement cartridge recommendation, but it was for the wrong part and was not compatible. At that point, I decided to find someone with Newport Brass experience instead of having him return. After discovering the handle had also been damaged, I called but he didn't pick up but then sent a text and explained the situation to gave him an opportunity to acknowledge the damage or offer to make things right, but he never did. My frustration isn't that he didn't know this particular fixture. No plumber can be expected to have experience with every manufacturer. My frustration is that once it became obvious he was dealing with something unfamiliar, he didn't stop. A true professional knows when a job falls outside their experience and is willing to say, "I'm not comfortable proceeding because I don't want to damage your fixture." I would have respected that completely and found someone with Newport Brass experience. Instead, what should have been a straightforward cartridge diagnosis became a much more expensive repair because he continued working on a fixture he clearly wasn't familiar with. Update: text received from Texas Master Plumber "The cartridge was faulty and already needed to be replaced. That's why it broke while I was turning it. I explained it was going to be $600-$800 to repair it before the stem came out of the cartridge. You made a decision to get another plumber that was "more familiar" with that product. If they're telling you the trim is broken, they're not as familiar with it as they say they are. The trim isn't broken. The cartridge stem is inside the trim and can be removed when the new cartridge is installed. The cartridge is the only piece that needs to be replaced. Sorry you're having trouble. I had the correct parts ordered and was happy to help. But, since you've got another company involved and they're giving you bad information, I'm out." It's a Newport brass 3/4' thermostatic valve 1-540 that needs a Newport brass cartridge 1-102. The stem is built in and not inside of the trim. And he was referencing to a Santec part, although it may be compatible but he didn't mention anything of it. read more

On the recommendations on another web site I called Texas Master Plumber. I spoke with Ronnie fairly late in the afternoon who told me he could come out the next day. He showed up on time and we discussed what I needed done and then a few things that I thought I wanted done. His quote for what I needed done was fair so I had him perform the work. It was done in a timely manner and everything was to my satisfaction when he finished. When we talked about the work that I thought I might want done he explained in detail, again to my satisfaction, why I should wait. Not many people will do that. My vacuum breaker on the sprinkler system was damaged by the recent freeze. Also the ball valves were rusted and hard to shut off the system before the freeze. I ended up lucky to still have water. I had a leak in the wall behind the toilet in the bathroom. Master Plumber came out and they were able to solve the problem. I needed water remediation and they referred me to a company. They also came a few months ago for a clogged drain and he was able to fix it. The plumber I had originally called wanted to break open my tile floors to find the problem because they were unsuccessful going through the drain. I called Texas Master Plumber (TMP) after a very rude plumber from another company left my home. I left a message on TMP's online portal since it was Friday night. I asked for Saturday service since we did not have hot water for several days and Sears Home Warranty would not be able to tackle the problem for a whole week. The owner called/responded to my request on Friday night and said they could get someone out to my house on Saturday. They called me again Saturday morning to let me know a plumber could get out to my house within the next 2 hours. I received a third call to let me know the plumber would be there in 30 minutes. Great communication efforts, overall. Alton, the plumber, came to my home and immediately fixed the water heater problem that the previous plumber (through Sears Home Warranty) could not/would not repair. But that is for another review I will write on the whole home warranty scam. Alton was very knowledgeable and waited 30 minutes to ensure the hot water was working as it should. Called these people out to give me an estimate on changing my water heater. I was in a jam and it seems they made every attempt to take advantage of the situation. The quote was stupid rediculous high. Needless to say I went with another bid. I was promptly visited the next day by the building inspector. These greaseballs called the city in retaliation for not using them on my job. This is the tactics these guys resort to in order to swindle in busines? Apparently, there is a good reason this company has a sub 2 star rating. I did some calling around to others i know in the industry: it wasn't surprising to find their reputation is very low among their peers as well. Good luck staying in business for the future. I cant help but chuckle as to how defensive your comments were to your other "one star reviews". It is a safe bet that your rating would be even lower if yelp allowed patrons to leave a zero. I found Texas Master Plumber's website after business hours. So I used their contact form and the very next morning they gave me a call and said they could send someone out in the early afternoon. Now, that's what I can efficiency! You'd be surprised how many businesses take too long to answer their contact forms and some don't bother at all! The technician they sent seemed knowledgeable. He looked around and the conclusion was that they were not able to fix the problem. I don't know if the job was too small or tedious, but I was disappointed that a company like theirs can't fix my plumbing issue. read more

Delusional. Yes the home warranty paid for my water heater that you installed in 2010. What you Conveniently left out was the fact that you worked on that water heater in 2013. That work you did in 2013 failed which is why I had to call you again on 12/3/2014. What a scam you are running. I guess you think you can install inferior parts and when they go out we call you to get them replaced and you charge us $200 for labor again. When those crappy parts go out (and they will) you keep getting our $200 for labor. Recap: your plumber replaced the exact parts you put in just 19 months ago. You keep trying to throw this home warranty thing at me but it's just not sticking. As far as how long it took him to fix it. I literally used my my phone to time the plumber on his actual work and it was 13 minutes. I even brought this to the plumbers attention and his excuse to me was that he was very good at replacing those parts. Gee I wonder why? Maybe because he replaces them all too often. Even your plumber didn't deny it took only 13 minutes. I can show you the screenshot of my timer if you want. Yes you made two trips you made out here but only because you had to. The first plumber didn't fix my problem and left me without hot water for another day. You even admitted to me on the phone that the first plumber should have fixed the problem on the first trip. In response to "I'm glad we were able to fix it in a timely matter". No you didn't fix it in a timely manner. I had to take off work for two full days for what took you 13 minutes to replace. I called first thing Wednesday morning and the job wasn't completed until Thursday evening. If that's your idea of fixing a problem in a timely manner that just confirms how delusional you really are. I can see now why you get so many bad reviews. PS. Classy move "closing" the business on yelp so nobody can see your bad reviews. What you don't realize is the damage is done. I've left reviews everywhere I could. I told 793 of my closest Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram friends of my situation and I can't wait to show them your response. I'm a business owner and wouldn't dream of treating a customer the way I've been treated and the way I've seen you talk to other former customers is unethical and immature.
