We scheduled or 12lbs chihuahua mix Roxy online to be spayed/microchipped. We followed the instruction on the email. Checked in at 730am, filled out 3 pieces of paper, they weighed her, took her back & we checked out. Quotes received by other vets ranged from $340-$450. In all my years of having my pets spayed/neutered I've never paid more than $150 (we are from Alaska). At TLC I paid $105 for the spay/microchipped. I have a $5 donation which I wish I'd gave more at the time. But I still can. Both ladies working were very nice, professional & communicated great. I'll update my review when I pick Roxy up at 4pm. Update: picked up Roxy at 4pm. She was alert, of course drowsy a bit. The nice gentlemen sat down and gave the Do's & Dont's, what has normal and what wasn't. They gave me her pain meds for the next 2 days and showed me how to register her for her microchip which they put in her as well as her being spayed. So far I'm very pleased with the service from TLC. Their employees are on it, professional and showed they really cared. If you use their services please add on a donation. They are providing a very great service to the community. I'll update my review in 24hrs after watching Roxy's recovery progress. **update** -it's been over 24hrs since Roxy's spay procedure. She's doing great, her stitches look great, she's eating/drinking normally. We're keeping her gates away from our 2 male dogs who sense she was recovering and actually haven't bothered her. read more

I took both my cat and dog to get fixed at the beginning of this month, I could not tell if my cat was a male or female so I told them it was a female well i took my cat to the vet today an come to find out shes a he, not once did they bother to tell me it was a male an not a female and they still haven't registered my cat and dogs microchip through the system. The whole process was a nightmare never will I ever deal with theses people again ill find a nicer place with nicer people who actually show they care about animals instead of just taking your money!!!! read more

EVERY pet should be spayed or neutered. It is healthier for them and the community, so I appreciate the services offered here. However...when I picked my boy kitty up after his neutering the bottom of his carrier was FILLED with urine and he was soaked from sitting in it, likely for hours. His incision site was submerged. This is not healthy or appropriate for anyone, animal or human, after surgery. It also may explain the overwhelming smell of urine in the facility. I made no attempt to contact the clinic about this. I just got him home and cleaned up. He is now fully healed and doing fine. But pet owners should be aware and prepared for this when taking your cat here since they must be in a carrier. On a positive note...their website is great. Everything is well explained. Paperwork can be printed and completed before arrival (saving everyone time) and online scheduling is always a plus. read more

I recently acquired a six year old that was retired from a breeding kennel. I needed her totally checked out, brought up to date with all shots and spayed. I chose this business due to ease of access, I only have one leg, and they had a 'package deal' that seemed quite reasonable and included microchip. She already has one but I needed to transfer the info into my name. When I set the appt, I explained all that I wanted and specifically asked if they would spay a senior dog as I know that some vets will not perform that procedure on dogs after a certain age. I was assured they would do all I wanted, she was within their age range and all would be within the package price. We were ushered into the exam room, no waiting, and attended to quickly. After a brief exam they said they needed to take her into another room for weight as the scale in the exam room was too small. They came back and said all was done and she weighs 19.3lbs and they were done, I could check out now and 'Oh, by the way' they recommended she be spayed but they would not spay a dog that age. I was not pleased. At checkout I asked where new has tab was and they said 'OMG. we will do that now'. Remember, this is part of the 'package' deal. After that was done I asked her condition when they expressed her anal glands. I knew it needed to be done because she was doing the 'Butt Scoot Booth' on the carpet at home. Once again, 'OMG. We will take care of that now'. Remember, I am at checkout trying to keep from falling as I am standing on my one and only leg. I next asked if they had transferred her microchip info. Once again, 'OMG'. They had not scanned her yet. They wrote down the number and gave me an email address and said I had to register her myself as they install chips but do not do the registration, it was the owners responsibility. Needless to say that by this time I was beyond just being slightly perturbed. The kicker comes the bill. Since they refused to spay they decided I must pay for all services a la carte. Needless to say the bill was more than double the price of the 'package' deal. Once I got home, I realized they had given me the tag but not the vac certificate which is required for prove. The tag is not enough. I can assure you, they will never hear from me or my dog again and will not give them as a reference if ever asked. I have gone from being just 'slightly perturbed' to being ' Major oh Pissed Off'. read more

My puppy Chica was spayed at the Tomball location, and the staff was very nice and helpful. The only thing I didn't care for was the huge cone my puppy was given (it was way too big), but overall, I was very pleased. Chica is doing great and her incision healed up very nicely. read more

Took 2 of my cats in to be fixed. Now a week later they have been to the pet ER and are on antibiotics Going back today because they are not eating and need a feeding tube. Doesn't look good. I am very impressed. First they have a very organized system down where you register your pet. I just got a new cat and thought I would give them a try knowing she needed everything done. The cost is fair, not a fancy building but who cares if they do a great job. Workers were friendly and when I picked up my cat she was alert. The number one thing that impressed me was the veterinarian who performed her spay. She has the smallest incision and not one drop of blood. Very clean and my cat acts like nothing happened, no pain. I have brought my two cats here for the past year. Overall it has been a great experience with friendly staff and effective treatment/results. The only recommendation is have is with the communication on the surgery side. I had my cat neutered recently and while I paid when I dropped him off, when I picked him up I was told that I still owed due to him being a cryptorchid neuter. I wish I would have been told prior to picking him up that there was an additional cost as well as what it meant. I wish I would have had that opportunity to ask questions because it wasn't 100% clear when I picked him up. I was so worried about him having surgery that when I picked him up and got the news, my mind didn't completely wrap my head about what exactly that meant for his after care. I think sometimes we forget that people don't know the same things as the staff so a courtesy phone call prior to pickup would have been appropriate customer communication. Other than that, I appreciate this location and their dedication to our community and pets. read more

The staff are very nice and will take the time out to talk to you in a closed room so the animal you're interested in adopting can play around/with you at the same time. I am an LVT of 15 years and this place has a lot of bang for its buck. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. But here you get a lot more. A stray found me and I brought her here to be spayed. The website and instructions are all so self explanatory, easy to use, and what I refer to as "idiot proof", though idiots are finding more and more ways to be idiots. Seriously. Full out the paperwork prior to arriving and you're gonna have a good time. A few tips: The tech or assistant who does his or her spiel at the discharge of your pet...LISTEN TO THEM. It's a good spiel with good info that people ignore and get their pets in trouble. What they're giving you is not wrong, podunk info. It's good quality stuff. Don't be a dick. Your pet is getting bargain basement prices for MAJOR SURGERY. Would you go to the surgeon who charges least for yourself or your kids? No? Then quit your bitching. Primary care vets have to charge what they do. And this place charges less because they pay their staff almost nothing. And veterinary staff already make peanuts to give your pet the best care. Be kind. They have to put up with assholes who think their pets don't feel pain or need the same quality medical care as humans, and who think pets are a right and not a responsibility. Give your pet their pain meds until gone. If you just had surgery, you'd want it. Do what's best for your pet. They've heard all your bad jokes before. And they're really tired of hearing them. Just don't. Instead, thank them for being willing to take almost no pay and deal with some of the worst pet owners on the planet just for the sake of the animals. Well where do I begin. The person who called to confirm my cats appointment was extremely rude over the phone and upon arrival today the receptionist and technicians were also rude. The doctor was very nice and I was quoted a price over the phone as well as by the technician at check in and upon arriving this evening to pick up my cat the charged me more than quoted and the receptionist hadn't a clue how to look at what the charges were for I guess you get what you pay for when you hire help that's incompetent I managed vet clinics in the past and have been a technician for years and I have never been to a clinic with people who are rude and unprofessional on top of lying about prices. I would never recommend anyone go there and will never return and if I managed that place the only person I would keep out of all the staff was one of the technicians doing the room appointments this afternoon she smiled and obviously loves her job and is there for the right reasons and provides great customer service skills on top of being very friendly. The front staff is highly unprofessional and is what starts and sets standards for a veterinary practice. I brought a female kitty and her male baby to the location at Rayford and they were great. They maintained the social distancing that local mandate is requiring and still moved the line along at a decent clip. My fur babies were alert and not seeming to be in too much pain afterwards and TLC gave me their pain meds already portioned out in syringes. The worst experience I've ever had. The staff made fun of my cat for starters.. as if I couldn't hear them. Very inappropriate. My cat was (naturally) very nervous about being spaid. She had an irritation around her bottom as well so I made it clear I wanted both checked out. I come back, they said not only did they not look at the irritation (because apparently a member of staff never "informed" the other?) but that they saw a "scar " that LOOKED like she was already spaid. I've had her since she was born. Not spaid. Not to mention- NO where was there a scar on her belly. I will NEVER come back and I am furious with the fact that my cat has ptsd now. Very very rude staff. We had to bring our dog in for a skin infection and the front desk lady was so unfriendly. Then after an hour of waiting (due to the coronavirus) we finally were seen by the dr who was just AS RUDE!!! She told us our dogs collar was way too lose and we told her that our dog rarely uses the collar because he obeys and walks beside us without a leash, she replied with "well it doesn't look like he behaves". I usually use SNAP but tried TLC a year ago. They almost killed my kitty Castiel. He was bleeding uncontrollably after his neuter here and I rushed him the the emergency Vet a few hours after his surgery. It was touch and go and two days of antibiotics for an infection but he survived. After $800 and an email to TLC, by their request, they didn't even offer an apology. This place is garbage! I know that you get what you pay for, but I don't think that it isn't too much to ask for a little communication. I found Texas Litter Control on the CAPS website and thought that they could be trusted. Everything was fine until I came back to pick up my dog after her surgery. I had found this dog a little over a week ago so I did not have a lot of information on the dog. I paid to have her fully examined, tested, chipped and spayed. When I pick her up they give me medicine for her telling me it's an antibiotic, carprofen. Well after looking up the drug it's also a pain killer. No big deal, but I was a little irritated that the tech told me it wasn't a pain killer when I asked. Like I said you get what you pay for so I wasn't too mad. Yet. Next as I'm going through my paperwork I realized they never told me the results of her heart worm test or put it in her paper work. So I call, and they tell me she has heart worms! Any vet I have every been to would have at least told me this after getting the test results and informing me of where and how this could be treated! If this wasn't my first pet, I would have been clueless. I could have easily forgotten about the test and never known my dog had heart worms. Finally for the final reason and the reason why I decided to write a review, which I never do. As I'm looking through her paperwork I noticed that they checked she was pregnant. I had discussed with the vet that I did not know if she was pregnant, only that she had been bleeding when I first found her. They didn't even have the common courtesy to inform me that they had to terminate my dog's pregnancy. I don't know if anyone will read this review but I regret ever taking my dog here! The staff was rude, unhelpful, and uneducated. No one could give me answers or an explanation until I was transferred three times. As an animal lover, I don't think it was too much to ask to sit down and talk with me about what the results mean and what you did to my dog during surgery. It's not worth saving a few bucks, please take your pet to someone who actually cares about animals. I already have an appointment with a highly recommended vet that I'll be taking her to tomorrow to find out how severe her heart worms are. *******update******the only good thing about this place is the director actually called me and took the time to explain everything to me and apologize. But when he was of age/size, I watched for an email and they had a sponsor day so it was ridiculously cheap! Sam was cared for the moment he was taken back! It doesn't get much better than TLC. While they are not a full service vet, this place is fantastic for the basics at ridiculously low prices. The best part is that even though they are so low in cost, they treat your animal with all the love in the world! Another Yelper had some good advice...be patient, they have many, MANY animals to care for and even more people. Keep in mind you are paying rock bottom prices. They only charge what it costs to stay open. So be kind and patient if you have to wait a little past your appointment time, it will be worth it. I promise. My cat seemed happy as soon as she got home. She ate and drank water right away just as they said she would. We took our new Kitten to get Spayed here and we got the best service. My husband took our Dalilah early on a Wednesday morning in her crate and my kids and I picked her up same day at 300pm. Dalilah was a bjt groggy but by time we got her home she was out of her crate and ready to be home and she ate. I'll admit I was nervous. This is our 1st kitten. But the employee's all looked sweet and instructors given to all. They answered questions too. Like another reviewer I was concerned about that pain medication metacam? Well Dalilah seemed well and I just did not give to her. Even thou its just 2 doses..I hated to risk since It potentially could be harmful. Another friend of mine too said she didnt give her cats anything..they were fine. I also spent $10 on the neck cone to prevent cat from nibbling on stiches..well. I shouldn't have purchased. My cat too it off and it was very Ackward for Dalilah. Pretty much she only licked herseld and we kept a good eye on her. She healed up well and We paid about $110 for Spaying, rabies n distemperment shots and she got Micro chipped too! Great service! We took our cat here to be neutered and are so happy that we did. You can definitely tell that they love animals and take great care of them. Everyone is very friendly, overall. The only time I saw a problem was at drop off. I know they're very busy during drop off/pick up, however, one of the woman had a huge attitude with customers and appeared to be annoyed (rolling eyes, sighing). I took my dog to get spayed.. we thought she was pregnant and we told them and they said they would verify she wasn't before doing the surgery. BEWARE they don't even have a ultrasound machine, meaning they didn't even have a way to verify. They continued with the surgery and my dog turned out to be pregnant and she went into "shock". My husband had to rush and take her to the emergency room. I called them, TLC, clearly upset and DEANA SELLENS said well "you let her get pregnant" and that she only got sick when we picked her up. How convenient. She was there 8 hours and they NEVER noticed she wasn't okay. This place is shit. Take your dogs somewhere else. They did pay for the emergency room costs which is the least they could do! Even the emergency room were disgusted by them and shocked by their actions. RUN RUN RUN! I know they are going to come back and write some BS apology. Save it. REPLY: Your response is sickening. When my husband dropped her off he told your staff i think she's pregnant and your staff told him she doesn't look pregnant. This goes to show that you don't know the full story or your staff is lying to you because we did disclose this so STOP using this as your CRUTCH for this argument. We left her believing and trusting that your staff would do more than just merely look at her to make a determination. We did NOT know FOR A FACT that she was pregnant or that far a long. If YOU OR YOUR STAFF (who i'm sure have degrees or have some technical certificate) could not tell she was pregnant how were we supposed to know. If we had received a call letting us know she was pregnant we would have gladly picked her up let her have her puppies find them homes and spay her at a latter time. Secondly, you're in surgery and you find out she's that far a long and pregnant and your staff knowing how HIGH RISK and DANGEROUS IT IS, the best thing to do was to give us a call and let us know of the complication. Out of courtesy. That would have avoided half of everything that happened and we would have been somewhat ready for the outcome. We are not cruel to take her when she was about to give birth like you're trying to make it seem only to save your reputation. Yes, we feel guilty over what happened too but you are trying to wipe your hands clean as if it is all our fault is not right. You HAVE to take some RESPONSIBILITY. It is a lesson learned, you pay for what you get, a bad service and rude staff MEMBER DEANE SELLENS. AND it is NOT okay that you text me at 11:00pm to tell me you won't refund us our money, i know that was your way of getting back at us for this review since you mentioned it in the text (Please don't TEXT your customers again it is unprofessional). This confirms how you don't care about animals or your customers and I'm not talking about TLC but personally to you DEANE SELLENS. It is unfortunate for TLC that they have you representing them. everything YOU'VE done from the moment this situation spiraled out of control was to get back at us with your rude comments and not once taking an ounce of responsibility. You really need to take clases on customer service. I worked at a morgue for 5 years and if a client called me crying or upset i would never tell them "why did you let him drive drunk" like you did when you said "you let her get pregnant". My wife and I went to your location in PetsMart in Portofino Plaza this past Sunday and selected a cat that you've had from at least February. Her name was Princess. We were told she was 2 yrs old. We brought her home and she was very shy and withdrawn, which we understood from being cooped up for that long a time period. She smelled bad and we noticed that she didn't groom herself. We asked why when we were there and really didn't get a good answer. We decided to bring her to our vet that we've been using for over 15 years to have her bathed, cut her nails and a physical. Well, much to our shock, we were told that she has a sever case of Gingivitis ( which is not curable ), a very bad infection in her left ear, dehydrated and in general, in bad health. The vet also said that there's no way this cat was 2 years old. Based on her condition and the thickness of her nails, she was at least middle aged and maybe even a senior. We had to make a decision on what's best for the cat. I can't believe you people would offer a cat up for adaption with the problems she had. The gingivitis was the worst case our vet has ever seen! There is no cure for it so we decided to do the humane thing and euthanize her. You have no idea how upset my wife and I were. We went there for a check up and a shampoo and were hit with all the problems she had. I received a call today from some clerk who was returning a message I left. I asked to speak to Deana Sellens. She would not put me through to her without knowing why. Well, I told her and her response was " you put one of our cats to sleep?"! Just as indignant as could be. When I told her about all the physical problems the cat had her intelligent remark was, " well, that's the vet's opinion". I'm sure this clerk had no idea what gingivitis is or that it's not even curable. I'm supposed to be get a call back from their executive director but I'm betting, based on some of the horror stories I've just read, there will be no such call. Oh, I forgot, she told me I was rude. That's almost comical. I didn't swear, didn't call her any names but yet I was rude. You're nothing more than a rip off, based on our experience. I doubt that you'll change any of your policies or procedures based on this post, but suffice it to say, we will never ever use, nor recommend, your shelter to anyone ever! You have no decency regarding those poor animals. Oh, and it cost us $25 for the adoption fee plus $85 to euthanize her. I'm out $110, but at least the poor cat isn't suffering anymore. read more
