Well I signed up for a two week trial and we showed up and it was such a gloomy place not one instructor is smiling or even a bit friendly .... it's like a bunch of angry ppl or socially disconnected people. My son was ready to go as we walked in .... my son isn't bad or anything he is just a normal active boy. We did the long sit and listen to the instructor brag about himself session , then he kept going on and on about backing police and like police do no wrong when we ALL know police can be bad just like anybody else and my son and I did a small class. The lady they had us with was clearly still in training and didn't know what she was doing. After that we didn't get our two week trial, we got thrown into a office and was super pressured to sign up for classes because if we didn't sign up that day it was going to be so much more expensive to sign up , I went along with my husbands decision to sign up and it was the worst decision ever. My son never wanted to go to class and the more I went I understood why. I have seen great classes and students who get out on the mat and give it their all , great behavior from students who learn the art and love it..... Pittman Academy was none of that, everybody looks like they don't want to smile and they are scared to enjoy class. Paid the full price for the classes for a family of 4 and didn't go for no more than a month , if that..... me and my youngest son never even started..... biggest waste of money and time, wish it would have been a different outcome but nope. Sadly someone called me from the studio and I told him exactly how I felt, all he had to say was well you have a good day!!!! Pittman or anybody else who works there could careless why anybody isn't coming ..... it's literally been months and they just called lol. Worst purchase of my life .....

The instructors have a mad amount of experience under their belt, and push their students to the limits, all while having fun and feeling good after the class. All ages excepted and no discrimination allowed, come by and train or even work out in the gym, mind you this gym is not all glory with top of the line equipment. This gym was built around the old ways, sweat and iron. I've been to a large majority of gyms in town, and this is the one that's taking me back to the good ol days. People who are here are here to work, not play on there phones and get tans. Highly recommend.

So of course the little one wanted to sign up, but you have to sign a 6 month contract regardless if you go or not. Once you have signed up then the little one is crammed in an overfilled class with very little if any personal instruction. This place is just a pyramid scheme wrapped up in a karate suit. Buyer beware. This place will suck you dry.

Not only was it that she did so well that pleases me, but how much fun she had... How much respect she has gained for her sensei, her student instructors, and this form of martial arts... how much she has learned from karate. I would highly recommend this program for children as young 5-years-old on up to teenagers. They have a travel team that competes around the country. Fundraising is a critical component for the travel squad. I appreciate how involved the various programs (levels) are within the community and Lea County. Each group prays and recites the Pledge of Allegiance before practice. Their facility just keeps getting better and better. In October, ATK will be celebrating their 7th anniversary! This review aggrandized ATK, but rightfully so. Hobbs should be very proud of this business. I'm a fan!
