This is probably the nicest rest area I have ever visited…read more I was getting extremely sleepy after an early morning departure and drive from New Mexico. This rest area appeared just before we entered the heavy traffic of Fort Worth and Dallas. It was perfect location to change drivers, take care of business, and rejuvenate before tackling city traffic for the last two hours of our drive. Parking is divided into two sections. Cars are directed to one area, and big rigs to the opposite side. You never have to worry about walking near or navigating around large freight trucks. The rest area is so inviting. The gardens around the building have a lush green lawn, lots of shade trees, well manicured bushes, and beautiful flower borders throughout. It was a pleasure to walk my dog on the wide, paved sidewalks all around the property. We both thoroughly enjoyed stretching our legs while strolling through the shaded garden. There were several covered picnic tables where you could relax outside and have a snack. Grab food from one of the vending machines inside or bring your own meal with you. Inside the building was a small museum exhibit featuring a filling station and an old fashioned car from the early 1900s. It was a welcome respite to activate your mind after countless hours of staring at the flat, featureless plains and desolate Chihuahua desert. Bathrooms envy that of the famous Buccees has station. They are clean, well maintained, and plentiful. You will never have to wait in line here. There is an information desk at the facility. No one was sitting there when I was in the building, but there were clearly workers on the property working outside, They were wearing brightly colored reflective vests and smiled and said, "Hi!" when I walked by them. Free wifi was available here too. I didn't stay long enough to enjoy this, but I'm sure others appreciated it. This was a free government provided rest stop, but it rivaled any commercial entity out there because it was (1) FREE, (2) offered the services and facilities I needed, (3) clean, (4) beautiful, (5) relaxing, (6) rejuvenating, and (7) safe. This place was packed. The parking lot was buzzing and the spots were all full. The store had a large selection of items- as one would expect from a truck stop. The restroom is showing its age. But the dispensers were all stocked. And the floor was dry. I do prefer to hit the rest area in EastLand but I was having an emergency. So compared to the EastLand area not as good- But I'll still choose it over ANY Loves on the planet.

There is a wifi network here but it never allowed me to sign in, only repeating "The service is initializing, please try again later." It probably isn't the safest spot unless your doors are locked and you can put a screen on your windows. There is a lot of transient traffic and I did not spot any law enforcement patrolling. This Buc-ee's is insanely large and I know it's not the largest in the chain. They have everything you could ever want and more from freshly made food, preserved foods, souvenirs, kitschy things you'd find at a cracker barrel or gift shop, and then what you'd expect from a gas station. Apparently, I fudged by getting the sausage on a stick wrapped in a tortilla. The go-to move is supposed to be to get anything brisket. Rookie mistake on my behalf. I did manage to snag a caramel fudge that I did not regret however! The sausage was rubber and beyond dry. I felt like I was chewing an old balloon and the BBQ sauce didn't help. *This was my fault for not knowing better since they sit out. The bathrooms are super clean. The doors are sealed on the sides with privacy! If you need an OTC medication chances are they have it and it's really affordable compared to CVS or something.

I've been to other Buc-ee's before, this one doesn't seem that big but still has everything you want and crave for! The jerky station lets you sample the jerky prior to buying them. My family was so happy that they got to try everything and they eventually bought 7 different flavors! The lemon pepper and Steakhouse was my favorite flavor of the day! You can never go wrong with their brisket sandwiches and the freshly made chips! They also freshly slice the brisket if you order at least one pound of meat. One challenge we faced was that they overcharged us for additional pound of meat. At first, we were super frustrated because we could not call them to resolve the issue. Also, we were far away from Buc-ee's by then and there is no way we could prove that we did not ate those item. Eventually, we send Buc-ee's an email and they were able to check through video footage that they indeed overcharged us. They did this in less than a day and they were super professional about this matter. It turned from a situation full of frustration to relief. I will definitely bring my other friends and family over again in the future!

Crickets were everywhere!! In our bed, shower, all over the floor, in the drained pool, and thousands of crushed up crickets in piles in the parking lot. When we complained 5 minutes after arriving, they replied, "It's Texas, what do you expect, everyone has crickets." They offered another room, but the stench of the entire property was so bad - we left and went to La Quinta 2 blocks away and guess what??? No crickets!!! Stay away!! I pulled in so I could join a conference call and noted there was some tree shade over their parking lot. Not enough but it was better than roasting in the open sun during my call. While here, I took advantage of quality gasoline and topped the tank off. Then my stomach started to growl and I got som BK. The store had some interesting souvenir items for sale as well as basic needs for snacks and hardware. The restroom, the whole store in fact, was very clean. I was pleased also with the quality of the service and the fast food I ate here.
