Most places it is an older dancer that works with them and while it's not necessarily a bad thing, it's also not the most beneficial. At The Dance Space, Tara (THE OWNER) teaches the little ones. WHAT? That's right. I personally danced for 13 years and didn't have a studio owner/director work with me until I was 11 or 12. Plus, Tara has more patience and skill with these children than I could ever imagine. Even as a new student, my daughter was welcomed so warmly. We are so happy here and hope to have a long tenure with The Dance Space.

My son has ADHD and they not only embraced him, but develped his technique and he thrived! My daughter is very young and only did the recreation program, but all of the teachers (especially Tammy and cooper) were absolutely amazing! Because of DI both of my kids are way above their age level in all genres from just one year of dancing there. The staff is extremely professional, and the owner is just so on top of everything at the studio. The best part of the studio is that none of the teachers or staff (Including the owner) get involved with ANY of the drama at the studio. They place the kids where they will do the best in technique and maturity wise. The only reason why we left is because we moved out of state, however we are going back every year for some of the conventions they participate in so we have the chance to dance with them. They care about molding your dancer into a professional dancer, not just a competitive dancer who stops dancing at 18 when they age out of competitions. They work with the seniors in getting them into the right collages and help them earn scholarships to pay for tuition. The owner and staff are well connected as well to get your foot in the door if you want to go more towards the entertainment industry. The ballet program is top notch with dancers that get into the most prestigious dance schools. (They have placed at least 3 dancers at Juilliard last year). They also have great adult ballet, tap, and hop hop classes that are so much fun! If you have the opportunity to go to DI do it! For starters we had put our membership on hold before the start of the new physical year, one would assume this would stop payment or they would tell you your payment continues or that there is a 30 day cancellation fee. When my wife had asked for the 30 day cancellation fee policy she was told they dont have one just the one year commitment which we did complete 1 year it was more than 2 months later they charged us for a full month claiming that was the cancellation fee ($169.00) Myself and my wife have called several times a couple times were even within 10 minutes of getting a text messag saying "sorry we keep missing each other lol" no call back or nothing just a simple text purposely avoiding the situation. My 4-year-old daughter came home telling me that Ms. Pam told her she is "dark brown." I find it completely inappropriate for a dance instructor--especially in a class for such young children--to point out differences in skin tone. My daughter was the only African American child in the class and had never even noticed the difference between herself and the other girls until it was unnecessarily highlighted by the instructor. What saddens me even more is that this is a Christian dance class. One would hope that such a setting would promote love, kindness, and sensitivity--not behavior that could make a young child feel singled out. I reached out to Ms. Pam personally to express my concerns, but unfortunately, she never responded. My husband and I ultimately decided to remove our daughter from the class. I hope this feedback encourages the studio to provide more training for their instructors on how to interact with children in a respectful and inclusive manner.
