As a highly skilled Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), I joined this practice with the intent to contribute my expertise and grow within the team. Unfortunately, my time there was abruptly cut short under circumstances that strongly suggest discriminatory motives. Despite being punctual, professional, and recognized by many staff members as one of the most skilled RDAs at the practice, I was unexpectedly informed by the manager, Ashley, that I was "not a good fit" for the team. This decision came without any prior warnings, write-ups, or clear explanations. When I sought clarification, the only reason given was that I didn't "fit in," which seemed to be more about my race and religion than my job performance. The environment at Texas Dental Specialists was one where most employees shared the same religious beliefs and ethnic background as the doctor, Dr. Yousuf. As the only Black Christian in the office, I was often marginalized and made to feel isolated. Dr. Yousuf and certain staff members frequently conversed in a language I did not understand, excluding me from discussions and creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. Additionally, Dr. Yousuf consistently displayed irritation during our interactions and showed little interest in my contributions. It was particularly disheartening to witness behaviors such as micromanaging and creating a hostile work environment being tolerated when exhibited by employees who shared Dr. Yousuf's religion and ethnicity. Rather than addressing these issues, Dr. Yousuf allowed them to continue unchecked, with these employees often retreating to the back to pray together during work hours. Meanwhile, I was subjected to undue scrutiny and ultimately terminated without cause. While Texas is an "at-will" employment state, it's important to note that wrongful termination based on religious or racial discrimination remains illegal. When I questioned the rationale behind my termination, Ashley initially responded with "Texas is an At-Will State," implying they could fire me for any reason. However, when I pointed out that wrongful termination due to discrimination is still illegal, she shifted her reasoning, falsely claiming I was absent twice--both instances were approved sick days with documented communication from my doctor, to which Ashley herself responded with "feel better." She also alleged that I was late, a baseless claim likely made to protect Dr. Yousuf's practice from being rightfully identified as discriminatory. To counter this, I documented my hours meticulously (a practice I started after discovering discrepancies in my first paycheck) and can confirm that I was consistently punctual. To anyone considering employment at Texas Dental Specialists, especially if you are not Muslim or Middle Eastern, be aware of the potential for discriminatory treatment. Patients should also consider whether they want to support an establishment where such practices are commonplace. It's worth noting that many patients expressed dissatisfaction with Dr. Yousuf's work, which was often carelessly dismissed. The reviews on the practice's website do not accurately reflect the reality of the situation and may have been influenced by bias within his religious and racial community, much like his staffing decisions. I am currently pursuing the necessary legal steps to address this issue, and I hope that by sharing my experience, others can make more informed decisions before choosing to work with or support this practice. From the moment I arrived I was greeted with a smile by everyone. The office staff is friendly and very professional. The process to handle my crown replacement was performed with expertise by Dr Yousef and his assistant Jameson. They were very attentive to my comfort during the entire process and kept me well informed. This was the 1st time Dr Yousef actually performed any extensive work on my teeth and I was very pleased. He helped me a few months ago with a damaged implant that another dentist had installed a few years earlier. The office worked with my insurance company and the Dr was instrumental in providing a mutual fair monetary outcome. Over the years we have always come across some dishonest Dentists. I can assure you Dr Yousef does not fall into this category. He's honest, easy going, intelligent and just a nice guy. I would not hesitate to recommend him and his office staff!! read more

Rude and unhelpful. I have tried booking with them for two months and scheduling is ridiculous. I assigned them as my contracted dentist and sent all paperwork to them to make things easy, still so much back and forth to schedule. They don't answer their phone ever and returning emails is hit or miss. When I asked them to just give me ANY appt they had - no reply. I've been going to Texas Dental Specialists back when Dr Cassidy was there. Since then it's a nightmare. Went up for a cleaning that I've had scheduled for months now. I get up there and the "office manager" Ashley is extremely unprofessional and condescending. She kept saying they couldn't see me because I'm "Not listed". I asked what that means and she just repeated that I'm "Not listed" as if repeating what she said would miraculously make me understand. She said I have to be "listed" because I have an HMO. I was confused what my medical insurance had to do with anything and said "I don't have an HMO" and presented my insurance card that shows I have Aetna PPO. She kind of shrugged her shoulders as if to say "I don't know what to tell you". I asked what's going on as I've been going there for 5 years (also to note I've NEVER in my 5 years seen this person before). She said "IDK maybe your insurance changed". I said "no, it's been the same" and she kind of shrugged her shoulders again. At this point I said "OK just give me back my insurance card and I'll go somewhere else if you do not want to help me." I left. My son has an appointment the next day. Well this "office manager" Ashley, she decides that no one in our family of 4 (kids included) are allowed back there and tells Aetna that I was yelling and screaming and cursing. I know they have a camera in the waiting room there. Pull that footage up Ashley so we can see what a liar and small person you are. read more

I've been coming to this location for quite some time. In fact, the entire family is patients. That includes my mother, 2 sisters, myself and my child. I had an appointment today for myself and my child to have our teeth cleaned. I noticed that there was a work conflict yesterday, however when I called no one answered. I called back and left a voicemail. When they followed up with me the next morning, it was obviously too late to cancel at that point. I explained to them, that I have a work emergency that I could not reschedule. Dawn is who I spoke with. She spoke to her manager and the manager decided to charge me $50 per appointment for the cancel since it was less than 24 hours. That's fine, your policy is your policy and its unfortunate that you could not be lenient due to an unexpected occurrence. You won't be getting a dime from me or anyone in my family anymore. I guess $100 was worth losing 5 patients. read more

I have been coming here for years staff is always friendly and accommodating. They really work with you on payments and scheduling to fit your schedule. They are great with kids, all three of my sons come here. I started coming after having my teeth cleaned by Jennifer who always makes you feel at home and makes you laugh along the way! I'm a single father on a budget so they really help me by splitting up my treatments in between paychecks! Will continue to come here indefinitely! read more

I found this dentist through a groupon and even though it was really far from me I decided to try them because they were so accommodating to get me in on the same day because I was in extreme pain. I have to say I have been to a lot of dentists over the years and most everyone in my family has had a ton of work, they are AWESOME. We all share our stories within the family and close friends and I was happy to finally have one with a good experience. I'll be back and I don't care that it is almost an hour drive. read more

I had a tooth crack & they were able to get me in immediately. There was a challenges with the crown fitting correctly on the first mold, but the second crown was perfect. The dentist would not tolerate subpar fittings. For those that like the nitrous gas, I don't believe they offer this. Overall, I would recommend however as they are very gentle & pain free. read more

In early 2021, I picked this practice from among those offered by my insurance plan and it turned out to be a great decision. Dr.Yousuf is warm and personable, professional and sensitive to my concerns about aging crowns and fillings. Since he took over this office in mid-2021, he has enhanced the aesthetics of the office, upgraded equipment and hired additional staff. The employees genuinely seem to enjoy their work, putting me at ease during stressful procedures. Kudos to Jamisan, the new, young dental assistant who did a great job scanning my teeth for invisalign braces. No more plaster of Paris impressions! She was friendly and patient, taking her time to get the 3D images perfect. read more

I am typically a very cautious and critical individual with the places I visit, and I can honestly say, TDS is by far the BEST dental office that I have been to. Prices here are slightly above average but you get what you pay for. I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months and they always remind me a week or so in advance about my appointment. Texas Dental Specialists has been our family dentist for multiple years. Dr. Cassidy and all his staff is very easy and nice to work with. They take care of our regular clean ups and all other dental needs. They are always very accommodating and ready to work with our busy schedules. Today morning I called for an appointment for my mother-in-law as she was having tooth pain for few days and was delighted to get one for tomorrow afternoon. So happy after my recent experience with my appointments that he is my new Dentist. Dr. Yousuf is very personable and one of the best caring dentists I have been to for taking care of my dental checkup and issues. I had a crown done today which was a great experience after a good check up/cleaning with Dr. Yousuf and Hygienist a couple of months ago. The dental assistant, Dawn is a gem! She is so very personable from assisting with dental procedures to answering any questions you may have. Dr. Yousuf, Dawn and the entire staff are so nice and helpful which made my visit pleasant when seeing the dentist is not what we ordinarily look forward to scheduling. The Manager at Texas Dental Specialists in Plano,TX is very harsh, rude, and not respectable. Dental hygienists are good but the Manager/part owner Jess is very bad and does not have any customer service. she takes the money upfront for services before insurance pays for it and does not return the excess amount after insurance settles the claim, we have to call her several times to get back the money. When you ask her that we have received the insurance claim and she owes some money back, she gets pissed of and tells customers that she cannot service them anymore and tells them rudely that they are no longer welcome to Texas Dental specialists. She has a very high temper and does not know how to retain the customers, she told upfront that they don't want us as customers. I would never go there and is the worst dental place I had ever been to. I do not recommend this place at all. I have seen an other customer yelling at her when I was there, very bad service. read more
