I had not been to the dentist in over 7 years. Earlier in the month, I went to a dentist in Texas and they gave me the bad news that I did not want to hear. The work I needed to be done would cost me about $8,000. They explained that each root canal (I needed two), would take about three separate visits to complete. Therefore, in my mind, I calculated no less than 10 office visits. Against my family's wishes, I took a chance and headed south to get the work done across the border. I arrived at 9 a.m. and the doctor did a thorough exam, which included x-rays. Then the doctors (2) did two root canals, two fillings, prepared another tooth for a crown (this one didn't need a root canal), and placed a temporary crown on the three teeth. By 3 p.m. I was walking back to the U.S. I was in pain but again this was A LOT of dental work in about 6 hours. The next day, I arrived around 11 a.m. Doctor Cortez replaced the temporary crowns with the permanent ones. She did a complete cleaning of all the teeth and then a bone graft for the required implant. She removed an old silver filling and replaced it with a natural color filling. Again, I was across the border by 3 p.m. All this work, which was actually more work than what was originally quoted in Houston, was done quickly and at 1/3 the price.
Overall, outstanding service! The doctors and staff were well qualified and experienced. The office was clean and they used modern sterile equipment. I did not feel comfortable bringing a large sum of money over the border the first day. My worries were soon put to rest once I crossed the border and met the friendly folks of Nuevo Progreso.
