A variety of the foods they offer
Laura R.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. We came at 530pm on a Wednesday evening. We had no wait and it wasn't super busy. We also made it for Happy hour. Yippee! It is pricy but if you can eat a lot is it so worth it! The spicy filet mignon was amazing! I ate so much of it! The lobster bisque was also outstanding! Their salad bar is large and they have lots of meats! They can come by very quickly and it can get overwhelming at first but they do slow down. Over all the food was amazing, our server was amazing, and we will be back!

The online reservation options via Open Table had us worried because there wasn't a slot available until 7:30 pm, but our party of two arrived a little after 5:00 pm on a Saturday and we were immediately seated. The salad bar was beautiful, but actually had limited options. There was a small charcuterie section, a couple of cold salads, and a side bar with lobster bisque, Jasmin rice, au gratin potatoes, and mushrooms. The decor was warm wood grains meets delicate crystal lighting. Very upscale vibe with white linen napkins, cobalt blue water glasses, and oil lamps. Our server was very attentive and met every request with a warm response. He patiently answered our questions and explained the situation with the roaming meat carvers. Now for the reasons my review isn't rated higher: Parking at the Mall St. Matthews was a nightmare! Think Christmas time on a movie with angry drivers stealing parking spots. There was plenty of meat readily served, but it was all bland without seasoning, and mostly at room temperature. It was very busy, loud, and hard to hear the carvers when they approached the table making offerings. I never knew exactly what I was agreeing to eat. Desserts are served à la carte, the server brings a tray of plastic replicas to the table and explains the offerings. We selected flan and pecan pie. The pecan pie, was supposed to be served warm, but it was delivered cold. Our server replaced it with a new slice that was heated, but it still wasn't worth eating in my opinion. I picked the top off and our server took it off our bill. From the moment we entered, met our server where he described refreshing limeades to the time he detailed each of the desserts, there was never a menu or price list offered. This was a one and done experience for us. We didn't eat any foods that made us want a second portion. We didn't enjoy the unknown, or guessing pricing. We hated the parking nightmare. But hey, if you are looking for a new experience, or if you want an atmosphere that makes a great photo opportunity, Texas de Brazil - Louisville may be what you are looking for!

This restaurant is a meat lovers dream. We went here for my dad's birthday. He really enjoyed himself. Our waiter did acknowledge his birthday but I was hoping for a free dessert for him. Maybe I should I have signed him for the dining program. I did like that our waiter asked what meats we would like to try and made sure it made it to our table. Make sure to bring your appetite. There is sooo much food.

Off the salad bar... lobster bisque was wonderful.

So.... Let's deep dive and do a very thorough review. This is a new restaurant, only open a few weeks... and they have some serious growing pains, mainly with their staffing. The service was good, but our waiter was overwhelmed. I've seen faster, more attentive service at the Waffle House (no insult intended). This is a major chain upscale restaurant and they didn't even have a bartender working. So on service, they get 1 Star. The food was excellent, especially the meats. The salad bar was also decent, but it was haphazardly laid out and didn't have that OMG factor you see at other Texas de Brazil places I've been too. On food they get 4 stars. The restaurant is very nice, modern decor and well lighted. The waiting area is almost nonexistent, and there was a crowd at the door. We made reservations and were seated within 20 mins of our reservation time, that should be better. On ambiance they get 3 stars. Overall, it was OK. For the price, I expected a much more polished dinning experience. I will come back in 6 months and see if things have improved. For right now, my over score is 3 stars.

Inedible dried up beef and chicken.

I drove 3 hours to take my son out for his Birthday. The place we were going to eat at Repeal, my son said this had excellent reviews. I have prime rib, brisket, filets etc in my freezer. So I didn't need to gorge on their meat. I got a skimpy half plate salad. I cannot eat a lot. I wanted some filet and some medium rare steak, which is what we told our waiter. During the next hour we had lamb and more lamb, cheap sausage links, and dried up chicken in bacon. The man came with filet and there was not enough for the 5 of all to get a piece of filet. 30 minutes later looked like a manager with long blonde piggy tail stopped by and my son said we'd like some filet. Nothing. We got passed with some beef and was told it needed heated. Another man came and I thought I got a piece of meat, was a chunk of fat. Another man was walking around with dried up meat nobody was taking (see picture) I made the mistake inedible. Finally we said something to our kind waiter and two of our guest went outside. Until then I had one piece of filet, the man came and I took 2 there still was not enough for all to get a piece. The man came back with 2 pieces for me. I've travelled all over worst Brazilian steakhouse. Normally fighting off meats and stuffed. I was ok the last 10 minutes. I expect decent service for $51.99 person even when in Manhattan. All 5 guests said it was worst and we've all ate at them together in other places. I have never seen in one this size where there were periods no meat server was on the floor. If they offered a dinner for free I would not chance it. Too many great places in Louisville.

My family and I enjoyed our first visit with the constant flow of array of foods, I enjoyed the salad bar, their lentil dish had me hooked. We ordered the Brazil Cheesecake and it was creamy & full of flavor. The interior design was eye catching especially the chandeliers. I recommend Luis B. for giving excellent service.

This was my first experience at a Brazilian steakhouse and I wasn't sure what to expect!! We did the whole "experience" which included the salad bar... we definitely didn't need it. We were saving up for the big meal so we got very little from the salad bar, but they some different options and a variety of soups as well. Before we could even turn our card to green we were already being served meats! Everything tasted so good!! The different steaks were my favorites. There were also 3 plates of sides that came out, and we opted for our dessert to go as we were so stuffed. Our waitress came to check on us a few times and was helpful with our questions. We will definitely go back!

My salad plate from the best salad bar, ever.

I took my grandson to TdB last week. As usual, TdB did not disappoint. The food was delicious. Our waiter, Marvin took exceptional care of us throughout the meal. I will be requesting him to be our waiter again when we return. The gauchos kept the delicious meats coming until we were stuffed. Our favorites ate flank steak, filet and bacon wrapped filet, picaña and beef rib. Honorable mention goes to parmesan chicken. The only meats I don't recommend are the garlic or spicy picaña as they tend to be tough; tasty but hard to chew. We were too full for desert as we ate four baskets of Brazilian cheese bread with our meal.

Big backery happening

Had the classic Brazilian Steakhouse vibe. The highlights of the night were these little beer. Very nostalgic for me. The banana foster pie was also a new one for me. Taste absolutely great. I loved it.

Beef rib, chimichurri, etc.

We really enjoyed our first experience here! Went with my mom and husband, both of whom got the meat service (I did the salad bar option, which includes the hot sides--lobster bisque, sautéed mushrooms, seafood stew, etc.). Husband especially appreciated the sauces on the salad bar--he got two saucers of chimichurri to pair with meats. I loved the roasted garlic and Israeli couscous salad. In terms of meats, the table's favorites were garlic sirloin, tri-tip, filet mignon (the one not wrapped in bacon), beef rib, & flank steak, plus the house special. My mom commented on the dryness of the chicken but was otherwise pleased. The meat service was relentless--it seemed to never not be offered table-side. Our server was very attentive. The table also received delicious crispy fries, creamy mashed potatoes, cheesy bread, & cinnamon banana, most of which went uneaten, but not because it wasn't great (but because the meat-eaters were prioritizing meat). We used a 25% off coupon for one entree for signing up for emails, which basically meant we got a free cocktail. My $7 happy hour wine lasted the whole meal. Tip: don't order an Old Fashioned unless you want the midwestern version with a smashed maraschino cherry. Double-check your check, too--we were initially mischarged (my salad bar "lite dinner" was charged as a meat dinner, a $20+ difference) but it got corrected quickly when I noticed. Look forward to going back--great stop before or after a movie at Cinemark.

It's on the pricier side but if you come hungry, I'd say it's well worth it for the amount you can eat and the quality. You begin with the AYCE salad bar, which has a wide range of olives, cheeses, salad toppings, smoked salmon, and even a delightful cold apple salad and potato salad. When we were seated, hot dishes came quickly. I loved all the sides - fried polenta, fried banana, mashed potatoes and cheese bread. You could request a few additional side items complimentary. I tried the fried yucca and was glad I did. Now, the MEAT! Once you turn your card to green, be ready! There was a constant flow of Gaucho chefs with the different varieties of meat. They were very attentive asking preference on cuts. When I was getting full, I wanted just one last piece of picanha. Not one, not two, but three Gaucho chefs stopped by within approximately one minute asking if there was a particular cut I would like while the first chef had gone back to the kitchen. The service was incredible.

DRINKS: This is a fantastic BTG list with many excellent options for sparkling, white, and red wines. Trefethen Cab for $30 all day with the myriad of dry-aged steaks offered here! The bottle list doesn't disappoint either as it showcases a medium selection of options, which cover a little bit of everything while having a New World focus. Finally I made it to the cocktails and loved the focus on some absolute classics with Manhattan, Boulevard, Vesper, Sazerac. Then you see the seasonal section where their Amaro cocktail creations really shined! FOOD: The appetizers are all wonderful, the crab cakes are about the crab, the bone marrow while not my favorite is good, the steak tartare is divine, and the oak-fired heirloom carrots are without a doubt slept on. Now I did love the Lobster Bisque presentation but I have had better if I'm being honest. Then I thought... for being a steak house they sure give you a lot of reason to not order a steak ! The organic Chicken Picatta is wonderfully executed, The Whole Roasted Dover Sole Meunière stays classically French and is a great fish entree where steak is the headliner. But if you are getting a steak it's definitely going to give you a super-star performance. The steaks here see 35/45 days of dry-aging and the Fred Linz Heritage or A5 Wagyu is the way to go without a doubt! Every steak was cooked perfectly medium-rare and the Red Wine Jus was my favorite personal sauce while others preferred the Bourbon Peppercorn. However, if you truly want to indulge get some of the bone marrow butter and put that on your steak..... your tastes buds will thank you. DESSERT: The dessert list gives you a respectable selection with the Bourbon Bread Pudding being a must try! I also always appreciate a good sorbet option but I must say the chocolate cake is rather underwhelming... however that Raspberry coulee it comes with is awesome so it kinda redeemed itself. The waiter recommended to ask for more on the side. SERVICE: The waiters are all abundantly professional, performing at a level of service you'd expect from a modern high-end steak house. The recommendations made were excellent while their knowledge of not only the menu but the wine list was appreciated. OVERALL: Absolutely would recommend Repeal for a special date night, Business dinner, or if you're wanting to treat yourself to a high class experience in downtown Louisville.
